Window.open With Url Variables?

Jul 11, 2011

i have this code:

echo "<script type='text/javascript'>openWindow('".$adress."')</script>";

the $adress send an url with variables like "xpto.com?var=1&varB=2"

Problem is that using window.open always encodes & character to & and the url doesn't open. I have tried many functions but still doesn't work.I have this javascript code:

function convert(str)
{
str = str.replace(/&/g,"&");[code].....

The convert function doesn't do anything. the commented javascript functions like unescape, etc also doesn't work. If i do alert(adress) it converts & to & but if i do document.write(adress); it shows correctly. So i assume that some functions encode and others don't. Meaning that window.open encode by default. It there a way to override this?

Open.window Reloads Parent Window

Jul 23, 2005

When I do the following line in Netscape, the popup loads as it should,
but the parent window usually, but not always, reloads as well.

<a href="#"
onClick="window.open('/cgi-bin/displayimage.cgi?/store/demo/image.jpg&YOUR+PRODUCT%27<b>S+NAME+GOES',
'fullimage', 'WIDTH=420,HEIGHT=405,status=0')">

The original window should not reload, but is, and I have tested it with
both version 4.72 and 7.02, and they both do it. IE does not do it.
The big problem is that the original window has security built into it
so it must be called from the right referring url, but when Netscape
reloads this parent window, it neglects to send the original referring
url, so the original page is replaced with an error page as soon as the
above link is clicked.

Is there any workaround for this, where either Netscape will not reload
the original page, or if it does, at least not lose the referring url?

Window.open Affecting Parent Window

Jul 23, 2005

I'm using window.open to create a secondary window, and everything is
working fine with that. My problem is that as soon as that window is
opened, the parent window scrolls to the top of its page. So when the
user closes the secondary window, they've lost their place in the
parent document.

Is this normal behavior for window.open? Is there a quick way to
prevent it, or is it more likely a problem with my Javascript?

Function To Open A New Window With Variables Attached To Url?

Sep 23, 2003

I'm figuring this will need to be done in a function. I'm building a page builder with 2 fields, a textbox called 'title' and a textarea called 'text' (imaginative huh!).

I want to have a preview facility. I've built the preview page, all I want to do is have a javascript button that passes the value of those two text fields to this preview page in the querystring. Is there a way using variables to pass this through?

Changing Values In The Parent Window

Aug 25, 2003

I have the following code in a popup window.

Code:

<td bgcolor="#000000" onClick="javascript:setRGB(0, 0, 0);" class="swatch"></td>
<td bgcolor="#000033" onClick="javascript:setRGB(0, 0, 51);" class="swatch"></td>
<td bgcolor="#000066" onClick="javascript:setRGB(0, 0, 102);" class="swatch"></td>
What I want to do is to define the setRGB function so that when I click on a color swatch (onClick) it updates 3 fields in a form in the window that opened the popup with the corresponding RGB values. So let's say that in the window that opened the popup i have a form 'formname' with three text fields named 'red', 'green' and 'blue'.
