Does anybody knows the reason why?

I am facing problem while closing the child window in Mozilla Browser. Actually i am using window.close() in order to close the child winow . Its working fine with IE but its not working for Mozilla browser.
View 4 Replies View RelatedBut what are all these different browsers? Obviously one dependent on the other. Since AOL took over Netscape this thing splitted up till I got too confused.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been looking and looking to no avail.
IE has had, since IE4, the use of:
expression( [function or script expression])
within a style block declaration to dynamically set the value of a css property.
Does Netscape v6+ and/or mozilla have anything of the sort?
Code:
<style type="text/css">
div{position:absolute;
top:expression((document.documentElement.offsetHeight * 0.15) + 'px');}
</style>
I am on WinXP. The following page works perfectly in IE6. For Netscape
7.0, I have to move off of the image and then back on to get the fade to
take effect, and with Mozilla (latest version) a series of close mouseovers
will cause the screen to go wacko.
Does anyone have input on how to get Netscape/Mozilla to work with a fade
like this?
I have trouble using JavaScript to access an embedded real audio in netscape navigator 7.1 and mozilla 1.4 and 1.5 (It seems to work in NS 4.7) Eg.
<EMBED NAME=javademo SRC="test.rpm" WIDTH=220 HEIGHT=180 CONSOLE=one
CONTROLS=ImageWindow BACKGROUNDCOLOR=white
MAINTAINASPECT=true>
<!-- Form Buttons using JavaScript Controls-->
<FORM>
<INPUT TYPE="button" VALUE="Play"
onClick="document.javademo.DoPlay()">
</form>
The javascript error: "document.javademo.DoPlay is not a function" any suggestions?
Code:
When I load "frame 3," it calls the javascript function which is resident in "frame 1" to make the flash behave a certain way.
It's that simple... I.E. loves it, but Netscape/Mozilla don't like the javascript being called from ANOTHER frame. Any ideas/hints/seen it before? I'm wondering if there is any workaround, but afraid there may not be!
For a application I am writting I need to make some table columns apear and disapear by clicking on a link. I do this by changing the "style" property in the <td> tag.
The HTML is generated by ASP.NET, which automaticly sets the style property of the <td> tag to the right value. and makes links to the right Javascript function call to change a specific property.
This is the HTML output of 2 table columns: Code:
I need to know if the user close the browser or to open the window browser without or with a disable close window button How can I???

View 4 Replies View Related- I have a button on my Flash site that opens an HTML page in a popup window. In Flash, I open the new window using Actiosnscript 2.0:
- Within the popup window are links to other HTML pages. They all open in the same window. I've been using the following to create the links in Dreamweaver:
- On each page, I have a "Return to Main Menu" button that should close the popup window. To do this, I have been using:
- The problem is that it works differently in each browser, and I can't even get it to consistently close the window in most browsers:
Internet Explorer = popup message appears, asking "Are you sure you want to close this window?" or something similar; window closes after clicking "Yes."
Safari = Only closes if I'm on the original HTML page. If I click on any of the other links (note that these all open in the same window), those pages' "Return to Main Menu" buttons cease to work. However, if I keep clicking "Back" until I get to the original page, it closes.
Opera = Button actually works for each page.
Firefox & Chrome = Does not close the window at all.
I looked into it and saw that others have used a window.opener to solve similar issues. But, since my popup window is opened using Flash/AS2, I need to find a way around it.
I've tried preceding "window.close()" with "window.opener=null" (i.e. -onClick="window.opener=null; window.close()"), but I don't think I'm doing it right because it still doesn't work.
I've also seen others use codes that involve functions and variables, but it is beyond my current coding knowledge to implement this. Like I said, I'm sort of new at this.
i tried everything to open a new window of smaller size in Netscape, just couldn't do it. Is it my own Netscape browser setting or Netscape itself's problem?
here's one of the code im using:
<A HREF="javascript:void(0)"
'welcome','width=300,height=200')">
Open a new window</A>
I have a inline javascript function in my jsp.
HTML Code:
onmouseover="window.status='Registered Content - File System Jobs'return true;"
onmouseout="window.status=''return true;"
But this doen't work in netscape? Do I need to use anything else to make it work in netscape?
I have a page with 4 frames in it. If I click on a button in the 4th frame, a new window has to be opened and the value of the listbox in the 3rd frame hoas to be passed ....
My code works fine in IE, but doesn't in Netscape .....
First, the value of the listbox .... I try to get it with
parent.frame3.form.listbox.value ... But an alert of this (as a test)
does nothing .... I tried several combinations like parent.frames[2]
and parent.frames[frame3] but nothing happens ...
Another problem is that the frame4 is blanked ... strangely enough ...
I'm just doing window.open('blablabla');
I need a script that will open a new window (popup / new link) in a specific size, but will also close the old window (where the popup came from). I know the popup window is easy but finding a work-able close window script as the new window is opened is impossible!!

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe application I am working on uses Frames (TopFrame, SideFrame(Left)
and the MainFrame). On the occurance of a certain event, I am closing
the window from one of the frames. This is the script I use.
function CloseWin ()
{
window.opener = window;
window.close();
}
Works perfectly well with IE. But not with Netscape. The Javascript
console says 'Script may not close windows that were not opened by the
script'. Is there any workaround to this?
I am try to detect the mouse pointer by
var event = window.event;
var x = event.pageX;
var y = event.pageY;
This is working fine in IE, but in
Netscape/Firefox where event return undefined.
Can someone tel me how to detect mouse pointer
in Netscape/Firefox?
I have a JSP page on which when print is pressed - Records are fetched
on a redirected page and those are to be printed.
I use the lines -
<script language="javascript">
window.print();
history.back();
</script>
to do the same.
When browsed from Netscape 4.7, the Resultset page is printed
perfectly whereas in IE6, the resultset page is generated and the
source page is printed i.e. the one where Print command was given
Is there a workaround for IE6 for the same which will let me print the
Result page silently without changing the sequence of operations for
the user?
I'm trying to create code to close the child window I'm creating if the parent window is closed. Here's my code so far:
function openWindow() {
var newWin = window.open(); // open the new window
newWin.document.write('<h1>Child Window</h1>
[Code]...
The above openWindow function is used in this event: <input type="button" name="btn" onclick="openWindow()"value="Open a new window" />
I can generate the new window fine. I just can't close it if the parent window is closed.
Somewhat tested on Moz1.5

Notes:
1. edge & help attributes do not work.
2. "height" & "width" must be entered before "center"
3. if you should choose to set "center=yes" do not put in "left" and "top"
4. Minimize button not hidden, but when clicked the window will not disappear
5. Aside from the aforementioned, all features should react the same *fingers crossed*
6. Still in the works, so don't expect miracles. Any problems/queries/complaints please don't hesitate.
