Way To Check Object Equality ?
Jun 20, 2011
I've been looking around on the internet search for the right way to check for object equality, but I couldn't really find an answer that I could be sure of to be correct.
I made a vector "class", where mixed types of data can easily be stored in an array. I want to add an equals method to the vector. What is the correct way to check if two objects are equal? Where equal means that both objects hold the same data?

Is it possible to test whether two objects are equal using the data they contain inside and not comparing their pointers with ==?
Well actually of course there is but...
Is there a way to do it without actually looping through the object, instead maybe something that came with JS? (something like a .equals() method from other programming languages.)

If I define two arrays identically and test for their equality I get a "false".
That is,
Code:
So I thought perhaps == could not be used to compare arrays.
But the following:
Code:
Why the first comparison fails?

All I need is a script to check whether a field contains an exact code. For example,
A user goes through a game, collects pieces of the code - In this case random numbers or letters to form a 9 digit code.
The user can then enter this code into the field, hit submit and told whether they've cracked the code or not.
So basically something like, if this field contains "123456789" then go to WellDone.html but if it contains anything else other than this code then go to BadLuck.html ,
any ideas? Code:

The function below results in this error and I'm not sure how to correct it? The initial value of the field is 0.00, but it doesn't look like it's relevant... That is, even when the value isn't 0, it still results in this error.
if($("input[name='b2h']")) {
$("input[name='b1']").bind("keyup", b2);

I have a form with three Input File form objects in which the user can add image files. But I am worried about the problems these controls can lead, because to check the file size the server needs to receive the entire file, so serious problems may happen, for example:
1. Malicious user trying to collapse the website sending big files.
2. Users that have not seen the warning “Maximum size: 100 KB for each image, and try to send three image files consisting in 1,5 MB each one. These users will have a bad experience waiting one hour or more to upload the images, and after that receive an alert saying “Oooops! Your image files are too big. And also, web server will waste an important amount of resources. The same case with 100 users at the same time can be a nightmare!
I have been searching a way to check the file size on client side without having to force user to install anything, but I think that there isn’ t nothing to do with javascript. But I found an interesting PHP article that explains a way to do it with this server side language. The technique consists in:
“A hidden field (measured in bytes) that precede the file input field, and its value is the maximum filesize accepted. This is an advisory to the browser, PHP also checks it. This form element should always be used as it saves users the trouble of waiting for a big file being transferred only to find that it was too big and the transfer failed. Code:

Here is the HTML: [URL] I'm trying to uncheck the selected radio button, then set the value to 1 (Yes), basically overwriting theinitialvalue to 1. I've looked at prop(), val(), and attr(), and just don't know where to start. Should I select $('#set_q157 input') or$('#set_q157 input:radio'), or each individual radio?
Do I need to each them, and check if its checked, then change its value, or is there a way to select all three inputs as just one radial button? It would also need to work if the input has not yet been checked.

I am a php programmer and not a Javascript programmer and I am trying to help a friend out with his shopping cart. The original programmer (who wrote this years ago and is no longer around) has a button that looks up the quantities in the database for the submitted items, and then displays a prompt if you selected a quantity that is less than the minimum purchase amount.The issue is if the user enters a smaller amount than allowed and hits the enter key instead of the "Buy" button, it allows the order.how to use the current code to also check for an Enter key submission.I can handle the PHP and the db lookup for minimum quantities. Here is the page code and the Javascript code.
Code:
<a href="javascript:checkQuantity(document.form<?php echo $formCount; ?>,

I have an .asp page for my customers which does just accepts e-mail information and passes this information to another .asp page. But before passing the info, a javascript checks whether the entered e-mail does match some certain rules. Rule1: If any input has been made at all, Rule2: If an "@" sign is there, if the"." is there and so on. upon pressing the submit button, the first rule works but the second rule does not. Could not figure it out why.
[Code]...
It is the function control() which validates the e-mail field. But it just validates whether the e-mail has been entered or not. The second check (with the @ sign) is not being made.

I have come across an issue that only happens with IE.I have a custom save function that is designed to handle different ajax submits but I will simplify it for debugging. The issue is that once I make a submit everthing is fine at first. Then once I try to submit a second time it craps out. I am checking to see if there is an onsubmit function and then executing it like so before continuing. After the inital submit it is no longer found. When I alert the typeof document on the form it returns object but when I add the onsubmit it says object expected or object is null or undefined.
Code:
function secureBarSubmit(formId)
{
alert(typeof document.getElementById(formId)); // object always
alert(typeof document.getElementById(formId).onsubmit); // func first time then it is broken
