JQuery :: Behavior Of Document.write Call In .loaded External File

Sep 30, 2009

I need to be able to use jQuery's load function to grab the contents of an external file and append them to a particular DOM element. The problem is that when that external file includes scripts that contain calls to document.write, I get weird behavior that changes depending on which browser I'm using.If I'm using Internet Explorer, the load function gets all of the non-script elements from the external page and correctly appends them into the DOM element. Of course, this is not ideal because it ignores the scripts.If I'm using Firefox or Safari, the load function runs the scripts but the document.write output overrides the entirety of the calling page.Thus, I end up with a page that now only contains the document.write output instead of a page that includes the original HTML plus the document.write output as a child of a DOM element.

Document But When Using The Object Onmousemove It Seems To Run The Code Even If The Mouse Is Still Over Then Document

Dec 6, 2010

I am trying to make a function run if the mouse is moved over the document but when using the object onmousemove it seems to run the code even if the mouse is still over then document, how can I make it so if the mouse is over the document but isn't moving then don't run the code but once the mouse moves run the code? This is the code I made to handle the mouse move collections.

[Code]..

But with this code it runs even when the user doesn't move their mouse and the notification box pops up every second as the code seems to think a still mouse is a moving mouse.

I was thinking about having a run once system but that would mean if the mouse moves it runs once and then if the mouse moves again the code will not run as it has already ran before.

Reading External Text File - Load The Content Of The File Into A Variable In Script

Jul 16, 2010

I'm writing a script and I've encountered a problem.. I have a txt file with many words, each word in a different line. For example: the file words.txt contains:

word1
word2
word3
word4
word5

I need to load the content of the file into a variable in my script. I prefer that all the words will be in the same variable with line breaks, but if you'll figure out a way to put it in an array, it's ok too. I really don't know how to do it, and I tried to google but didn't understand.. By the way, I don't want to change the txt file to js file, I need it to remain txt..

Including A Javascript External File From The <body> Part Of An HTML File

Sep 26, 2007

I got an [object error] from IE 7.0.5730.11 when moving the <script

<bodysection of a HTML file.

Is not possibile to include Javascript code via <script src="..."
type="text/javascript" /from the <bodysection, instead from the
<headone? If yes, anyone has any idea of which the problem could be?
If not, how can I programmatically include a javascript external file
inside the <bodypart of a HTML file, for example, using Javascript
to some particular native functions?

Document.write() - Trap Changes Done To The Document Object

Jun 5, 2006

I have been searching for a way to trap changes done to the document object (mainly by the function document.write();).

Example of code that doesn't work:

function myFunction() {
ed.document.onchange = doFunction(document.body.innerHTML);
ed.document.open();
ed.document.write('Hello');
ed.document.close();
}

function do_function(body) {
alert(body);
}

It only fires when the page loads, not when I change the text. You are free to use any event that works, but i think onchange was the one to fit this problem. The alert will write the initialpage, but will never write the tekst 'Hello' that is the new change.

Any javagurus out there know a solution to pick up any fired events triggered by document.write();

Syntax Error On External JS File Beyond End Of File

Oct 14, 2005

I have the following HTML file:
---
<html>
<head>
<title>Test</title>
<script type="text/javascript" src="test.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
Hi There. <a href="javascript:doit()">Click Me</a>
</body>
</html>
---

The following js file:
--
function doit() {
alert("I did it");
}
--

Running htm file locally (double click) gives me security warning (XP
SP 2) but if I then select "allow script to run" everything works fine.

But when I serve page through IIS (localhost) I get a syntax error line
4 char 4. Of course there is no line 4 in the js file.

This HAS to be something simple I am missing but I have tried:
- with and without language attribute in script tag
- relative and absolute paths for the js file
- with and without Mime type for js set in IIS

Only remaining thing I guess it could be is file permissions but
everything has execute on it as far as I can see.

How To Check The Input File Object File Size On Client Side?

Dec 20, 2004

I have a form with three Input File form objects in which the user can add image files. But I am worried about the problems these controls can lead, because to check the file size the server needs to receive the entire file, so serious problems may happen, for example:

1. Malicious user trying to collapse the website sending big files.

2. Users that have not seen the warning “Maximum size: 100 KBâ€&#65533; for each image, and try to send three image files consisting in 1,5 MB each one. These users will have a bad experience waiting one hour or more to upload the images, and after that receive an alert saying “Oooops! Your image files are too big.â€&#65533; And also, web server will waste an important amount of resources. The same case with 100 users at the same time can be a nightmare!

I have been searching a way to check the file size on client side without having to force user to install anything, but I think that there isn’ t nothing to do with javascript. But I found an interesting PHP article that explains a way to do it with this server side language. The technique consists in:

“A hidden field (measured in bytes) that precede the file input field, and its value is the maximum filesize accepted. This is an advisory to the browser, PHP also checks it. This form element should always be used as it saves users the trouble of waiting for a big file being transferred only to find that it was too big and the transfer failed. Code:

Handling External Object Events

Jun 17, 2005

I have a script for a radio player that I'm working on using Windows Media Player. Before I was using the safe WMP 6.4 object model but because of feature requests I've had to include support for more recent WMPs.

I have a javascript class that wraps the versions and depending on which version is being used it calls different methods. I was wondering if there was a way to assign the events of WMP to functions in javascript, but without using <script for=WMP event=blah> type tags. Code:

External Sheets - Html Document For A Few Days Now Called "Farming Paradise

Jul 21, 2010

I have been working on a html document for a few days now called "Farming Paradise." The location of this html file (with javascript in it) is Desktop>Javascript!>Farming Paradise.html. My next step in Farming Paradise is to add animation. Well, I know there are libraries in which we can make animation easier. I would like to use jsAnim (jsAnim.com). I downloaded the library, but I'm not sure of my next step. I saved the library in my Javascript! folder (the location is Desktop>Javascript!), but I'm not sure how to link that Javascript library into my Farming Paradise.html? At the top of the javascript section in Farming Paradise.html, what code should I use?

or

or something totally different?

I've only used jQuery, which allows the source to be on the website, no downloads required. But jsAnim requires you to download it.

File Path For External Js

Jul 23, 2005

I have the following directory structure

index.jsp
a.js
b.js
|
|--/templates
|
|--/blah.jsp

Now blah .jsp is included INSIDE index.jsp.
In blah.jsp I have a button that calls a function inside b.js.
In index.jsp I have following code inside head tags:

<script src="a.js"></script>
<script src="b.js"></script>

and I figured since blah.jsp is included inside index.jsp, I should be
able to access the javascript methods with ease. But its not happening
that way. I get an error (object expected in the line that has button in
it). BTW, its not a problem in my JS or JSP code, because if I put the
js file's contents inside blah.jsp, then it works like a charm!

So what am I doing wrong?

I also tried moving my script import statements inside blah.jsp as:

<script src="../../a.js"></script>
<script src="../../b.js"></script>

But this doesn't seem to work either?
