Replace A Link With JS For A Window On Top?

Oct 13, 2011

I would like to have the click on an image take the user to a higher resolution image. The user would then click on a Close to close the higher resolution page.

Conventional HTML is like this:

<a href="next_page.html">
<img src="images/my_image.jpg"alt="an image"></a>

Instead, I would like to use an onClick as in

onClick="openWindow('hi_res_image.html','hi_res','toolbar=no,status=yes,scrollbars=no,resizable=no') ;">

with openWindow defined as

function openWindow(theURL,winName,features) {
window.open(theURL,winName,features);
}

Replace Link Text And Change Link Behaviour

Jun 24, 2010

Can anyone explain why replace doesn't work in the code below, the anchor text doesn't change when I click on the link.I will be happy if someone can tell me

1. how to change the linktext to "Hide information" when I click on the link.
2. how to hide the showInfoText (which has been visible when I clicked the first time) when I click on the link - now with the text "Hide information" - again.
3. how to make the link clickable again. Just now it is only clickable once.

Replace Image Inside A Div On Clicking A Link?

Mar 29, 2010

I am pretty new to javascript, safe to say I have never written anything, just edited. I am trying to write this function now to replace image inside a div on clicking a link. Here's what I have so far -

Quote:

function ReplaceContentInContainer(id, source) {
var domlu = new Image();
domlu.src = "source";

[code]....

It shows up the image source instead of the image itself when I run it.

Window.location.replace()

Sep 28, 2005

This may sound dumb but this is what I want and I am not sure how to frame it better. I see window.location.replace() creating problem with my "Back" browser button. This is because, location.replace() actually replaces the url in the history with the one currently given. So if I click on "Back" button after going to an url using window.location.replace, it goes to the previous-1 page.

Is there any measure to avoid this? Or do we have an alternative function that does the same action without replacing history?

Link In New Window Changing Value Of <input> In Parent Window

Feb 28, 2002

I'm building a program for webmasters, and I need to have it so that I can have an <INPUT> button that, when clicked, will open up a new window (400x350 pixels) with a list of links. However, when the person clicks one of those links, the window closes, the value of an <input type="text" name="parentdoc" size="8" maxlength="8" readonly> is updated.

How would I accomplish this?

(As I mentioned above, I am very new to JavaScript, so please provide as much explanation and code as possible.)

Pop Up Window/Opening Link In Parent Window?

Jul 21, 2011

I have a site where one of the links I have set up to open a pop up window which will display Terms & Agreement information, at the bottom there is a check box and a submit button for users to click on if they agree to the terms. I was able to get that working but the thing is when the user clicks in the check box and hits submit I want them to be directed to a page which has a form on it but I wanted the page to open in the original (Parent) window. This is where I am lost cause I found some coding which will open the page with the form in the pop up window but Ideally once they agree to terms and hit submit I'd like the pop up window to disappear and the new page open in the Parent window... is this possible below is the coding I'm using.

Here is the form:

<form method="get" action="this is where my link will go" onsubmit="return yes_no(this.form) " name="Agree">
<INPUT name="agree" name="agree" value="agree" type="checkbox"> I agree to terms
<input type="submit" name="submit" value="Accept Terms">

Javascript Open Link In Same Window

open a new window, but I need it to open in the same window. Here is what I have:

function pass_info() {

var info = "";

info += document.form2.productWeight.value;
window.open("/page/shippingrates/calculate_shipping_before.asp"
+ "?" + "weight=" + info,");
}

I know that it is the window.open, but I have not figured out what I
need to do to get it in the same window.
