Reference To Entity "src" For Which No System Identifier Could Be Generated
Sep 10, 2010
I keep getting this error during validation reference to entity "src" for which no system identifier could be generated ludes/phpthumb/phpThumb.php?w=1000&src=../../../../images/stories/portfolio/it This is usually a cascading error caused by a an undefined entity reference or use of an unencoded ampersand (&) in an URL or body text. See the previous message for further details., followed by entity was defined here /includes/phpthumb/phpThumb.php?w=1000&src=../../../../images/stories/portfoli the ampersand is bold and red, highlighted if you will.
Then it shows reference not terminated by REFC delimiter cludes/phpthumb/phpThumb.php?w=580&src=../../../../images/stories/portfolio/it If you meant to include an entity that starts with "&", then you should terminate it with ";". Another reason for this error message is that you inadvertently created an entity by failing to escape an "&" character just before this text.

I cant seem to get the reference to the 'header' IFrame that is dynamically created. I can reference one called 'footer' that is created in the same line of code as the other IFrames however (oddly enough). I've tried numerous ways with no luck. Since this is inherited code and designed years ago to run on IE only it's a mess. You'll see I've tried alerting out various different ways and simply left it in to show my feabile attempts.
Code:
function mit(e) {
var iframeElement = document.getElementById('header');
[code]....

I am creating a <select> with options, and I want to include such html entities as the Ohm/Omega symbol (Ω)When I say
$select.append($("<option>").text("Ω"));
it leaves that as plain text instead of turing it into the Ohm symbol -- specifically, it turns the & into an &, so that the rest of it doesn't get resolved.

I want to be able to automatically filter certain characters a user is typing in either an input field or a textara and automatically convert them to it's equivalent html entity. I've looked at .keypress, which will give me the character they typed, but I have no idea where in the box they have typed it.

I am developing a html ordering system that does not use a database but sends the data via email. To differentiate between two orders I would like to generate and add an unique identifier to the email. One approach I have seen is using data object to generate an unique id:
function uniqid()
{
var newDate = new Date;
return newDate.getTime();
}
This is not guaranteed to be unique as two people can send their request at the exact same time. One question pops up, the data being generated, is this local or utc time? Also, the number being generated in this situation is quite big and not so easy to differentiate two orders for a human. Ideally I would like to generate a global sequence starting at 1 and incrementing by one for each user that clicks on the order button regardless of timing, timezone etc. Is this possible given the constraints given at the start of the post?

IE 7 is throwing a JS error and I can't figure out why (probably because I am new to JS). FF and IE8 do not throw any JS errors. The JS error I get looks like this:
Line: 42
Char: 3
Error: Expected identifier, string or number
Code: 0
URL: http://dev.emsketch.com/
I'm not sure which JS file this error file is referencing.

I'm would like to add a light box to a site that has content generated by php. Basically it is a property site and will have a thumbnail image and description. When the user clicks on thumbnail I would like to display a gallery of pictures relevant to the property. Each property will be generated dynamically by php. My question is how do I enter the selector for the gallery into jquery. I am thinking of using Fancy Zoom as you can use hidden elements, as the gallery will be hidden.

I'm not quite sure if this is useful, but it's fun to watch :) . It displays a Particle System in which point masses gravitate toward each other.
Simple unzip the attachment, open TEST.html, and run:
var vps = new VisibleParticleSystem(canvas).randomizeParticles(10);
vps.run();
It works in Firefox, doesn't in IE, unsure about others.

I recently found out about L-systems (Lindenmayer systems) which are fairly interesting so I decided to make one in javascript. It uses the <canvas> tag so the code won't run in IE. I made a 2D version first and then decided to expand it into 3D because I think 3D stuff is much cooler. I tried to comment the source a bit. You can use the code for anything you like. It does include a simple 3D engine which can work with things made up of lines. Here is a link.

Does anyone know of a tutorial or the proper name for a tab system that will stay on the current tab even if you refresh.I've seen some sites that what they do is pass some parameters in the URL and it allows them refresh the page and stay on the same tab.I'm not sure on how to explain it properly nor do I have the proper name for it.if I click on About tab it will show the content of that tab AND also allow you to stay on that tab even if you refresh. A lot of tab tutorials I've seen when you refresh it resets all tabs.

I`m writing a javascript regex tester (IE 6 only) and would like to include
an undo button for a text input field.
I want it to handle individual keystrokes, pasting and drop, and also
text added by clicking various buttons.
I have tried a LOT of handler combinations and fancy conditionals to
make it work perfectly, and I`m ALMOST there.
