DIV Layer - Match For Specific Folder / Directory?

Mar 14, 2011

I'm using the following Javascript code to show a div layer depending on the URL
<script type="text/javascript">
if (location.href.match(/folder/)) {
document.getElementById("div-layer").style.display="block";
}
</script>
This works perfectly when I visit [URL] but I do not want it to match any subfolders beneath /folder, for example: [URL] etc. How I can modify the code to only match /folder or /folder/ and no subfolders beneath it?

Floating Layer - While Scrolling - The Layer Flickers Continuously

Jan 30, 2009

I have created a floating layer using Javascript that remains always on top of page on scrolling.Issue is,at some point while scrolling,the layer flickers continuously.

The html page is as follows:

Many common software systems, JavaScript has a history of security problems. Many of these problems could allow a person with malevolent intent to steal sensitive information from a visitor. The number and type of such holes in security vary among browsers and operating system versions. Most JavaScript security holes have been caught and fixed, but new ones are being discovered all the time. For a list of current security holes check out your browser's and operating system's Web pages. As a Web site author, it is your responsibility to keep up-to-date on the current status of known security holes in the applications you create.

Signing Scripts. In Chapter 11, I explained that JavaScript does not provide the ability to directly access files on the client computer. This can be a very large hurdle to overcome if you're trying to upload a file to a server from the client computer. Fortunately, file uploading is one of many functional enhancements that signed scripts provide. Signed scripts are specially packaged scripts that have been verified and signed to be correct and non-threatening. These scripts have additional rights on the client computer that allow a programmer to do many things that he wouldn't otherwise be able to.

With the introduction of Netscape 4.0, a new security model was put in place that would allow digitally signed scripts to bypass some of the restrictions that had previously been placed on them. A signed script can request expanded privileges from the visitor and, with the visitor's permission, gain access to restricted data. A signed script requests these additional permissions through LiveConnect, which allows your JavaScript code to communicate with the Java Capabilities API. The security model allows JavaScript to access certain classes in Java in order to extend its functionality while still maintaining tight security for the client.

A digital signature is a fingerprint of the original programmer, and it allows the security model of the browser to detect where (or from whom) it originated. A script signer can be a person or an organization. By signing a script, you acknowledge yourself as the author and accept responsibility for the program's actions. A signed script contains a cryptographic checksum, which is just a special value that ensures the signed script has not been changed. When a digital signature is detected, you are assured that the code has not been tampered with since the programmer signed it.

Once you finish writing a script, you can use the Netscape Signing Tool to digitally sign it. Signing a script does the following:

Unambiguously assigns ownership of the script to a person or organization.

Allows an HTML page to use multiple signed scripts.

Places the signed script into a Java Archive (JAR) file.

Places the source of the script in the JAR file.

Once a user confirms the origin of the script and is assured that it has not been tampered with since its signing, he or she can then decide whether to grant the privileges requested by the script based on the validated identity of the certificate owner and validated integrity of the script.

JAVASCRIPT FILE IS AS FOLLOWS:

AND CSS FILE IS AS FOLLOWS:

At some point while scrolling,the div 'movable' flickers continuously,while at some other point,it is perfectly stable.

JQuery :: Select A Specific Class Inside A Specific Div Based On The ID From A Button Elsewhere On The Page

Mar 10, 2010

<div class="box top"></div>
<div class="box main">
<div class="box header">
<div class="badge"><ul><li class="active"><span>60</span></li></ul></div>

[Code]....

What is happening is $(this) is no longer based on .expand being the (this) that is clicked.

like if i have a button SOMEWHERE randomly on the page with this

<div onclick="Minimize('_alerts');">Click Here</div> this will minimize alerts but because the (this) in minimize function doesn't actually point to the right button that I want to add a class to.

Is there a way to modify the minimize function so that it finds the <div id="mytoggle"><ul> <li class="expand boxminimize" rel="_alerts"> using the rel toggle, and then changes the class of the li from expand boxminimize to boxexpanded??

just like the .expand click function I posted on the top of the post that works?

Browser Detect To Load Specific Code For Specific Browsers?

Oct 6, 2009

Another thing that has been driving me crazy is that css positioning is handled differently by different browsers. JS is not my area, but I can do a lot with CSS, and I do, but cross browser compatibility is killing me.

I can use an IF IE statement and only IE runs that segment of code, but I haven't been able to figure out out how to make ONLY firefox or ONLY opera or safari enact an encapsulated segment of code. The same type of IF statement doesn't work for them.

Is there a single method using JS that works for all browsers?

Printing Other Frames

Jul 23, 2005

I have a frameset with two frames, and want to have a button in one
frame call print() in the other one:

This is the layout:

<frameset rows="*,40" frameborder="NO" border="0" framespacing="0">
<frame src="..." name="pritableText">
<frame src="..." name="printButton" scrolling="NO" noresize>
</frameset>

And, in printButton, I got this code:

<a href="#" onClick="parent.printableText.focus();
parent.printableText.print();">Print the page</a>

However, nothing happens in Netscape (7.01) and Firefox (0.8), and in IE (6)
I get an "error in the script". However, I do not identify the error.

Does anyone have a clue onto what's happening?

Printing Envelopes From The Web

Jun 7, 2007

We have clients asking that we provide an easy way to print envelops
from within our web applications. These envelopes need to be pretty
advanced, and need to include a bar code and maybe even a logo. My
boss wants a solution where we simply "push" the Word or ODF file to
the client's computer and it automatically prints on their printer.
I actually think that is what our clients are hoping for as well.
I've told him I am pretty darn sure that can't be done, because both
Word and Open Office files may contain viruses.

My suggestion has been to generate a Word or ODF file that the user
can download, open and then print. Alternatively, we could probably
generate a PDF to accomplish the same thing. These solutions might
involve extra steps, but I know they are possible.

I want to make sure there isn't some other alternative we haven't
considered, so I thought I would email this group and see if anyone
has some suggestions as to how they would approach this problem.

Printing - Fit On One Page

Aug 18, 2005

I have a calender I made in PHP and when you choose a week in opens up in a pop-up window. I have a simple JavaScript to display a print button. The problem is that the calender is very wide, so you have to print it as a "landcape", but even then the whole thing doesn't fit on the paper. Furthermore, it doesn't fill out the paper in the top and bottom.

It's a bit hard to explain, but I hope you understand what I mean. How can I make it fit the paper when being printed? Here's the JavaScript I use:

<script language="Javascript1.2">
<!--

var message = "Print this Page";

function printpage() {
window.print();
}

document.write("<form><input type=button "
+"value=""+message+"" onClick="printpage()"></form>");

//-->
</script>

Printing Linked Documents

printing the report , I want to print all the reports with a single
button click, say on pressing a button "Print All" .

I have found out a way, in which the reports can be printed , but
the print dialog box is coming up each time( eg. for 4 reports it is 4
times, and for n documents it would be n number of times ) ; which I
find very irritating . I would rather prefer a single print dialog box
coming up for n number of reports .

Style Display:none And Printing

Jan 4, 2006

Situation:
A (rather long) page that contains a lot of divs.
Some are visible (display:inline) at a certain time, other not.

The javascript is responsible for divs to be visible or not.

Question:
If the browser is displaying some divs, and the user gives a printcommand
for the page, can I be sure only the visible parts are printed?

On my machine this is working fine (W2000/IE6), but I hope it will work on
all setups that support display:inline and display:none (= every modern
browser I think).

Could this give problems for different printers/printdrivers?
Or can I trust that if the browser can handle divs right, it will send the
correct commands to the printer?

JQuery :: Example Of Printing From A Lightbox?

Dec 19, 2011

Can anyone refer me to a site that demonstrates printing from a lightbox? I'm not looking for a site that explains how to print from a lightbox. I'm looking for a site that does printing from a lightbox.

Context: I think that a lightbox would be a good solution for some browser compatibility problems in my client's user interface. The information I need to display in the lightbox is a certificate which the user will print. For a lightbox plugin to be useful, I must be able to (1) print the contents of the lightbox, not the whole screen, and (2) show my client how the concept works.

I was originally planning to recommend Shadowbox until I realized that printing was a problem. I've found instructions for printing from Shadowbox, but no examples, which puts me in the position of having to do all of the implementation work before I can produce a demo that will enable my client to decide whether they want me to do it or not.

I'd still be happy to use Shadowbox if it meets my needs. I'd be happy to use anything else that meets my needs, too. I need a lightbox that can display an HTML page or (ideally) a PDF, not just an image file. Printing doesn't have to be started from the browser's menu; it can be started from a special button in the lightbox frame. (Shadowbox works that way.)

Printing A Page In A Frame

Jun 21, 2007

I'm having great problems trying to print out pages from within the middle frame of three horizontal frames in Internet Explorer (only):

<frameset framespacing="1" rows="45,*,35">
<frame name="topFrame" scrolling="no" noresize target="middle" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" src="topframe.html">
<frame name="middle" marginwidth="8" marginheight="16" target="_parent" scrolling="yes" src="page.html">
<frame name="bottom" target="middle" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" scrolling="no" noresize src="botframe.html">
<noframes>
<body>
<p>This page uses frames, but your browser doesn't support them.</p>
</body>
</noframes>
</frameset>

The problem is that the pages spill over to another page (in all printers I've tested - and in a pdf) BUT (and this is weird) if I print the page OUTSIDE of the frames, they print out on one single page as designed. The javascript used to print the page is simple enough:

function printit(){
window.parent.middle.focus();
window.print();
}

...but i don't think the function is the problem.

Does anyone know why a page would print out differently (i.e. longer) if inside a frame in a frameset, why this should be so, and what I can do to prevent the difference and have it print like a normal page?
