I am using object tag and have attached onreadystatechange event to a function. in this function i want to check object.readystate value and perform some operations. but it seems object.onreadystatuschange and object.readystate is not supported in Firefox.
Is there any alternative to have readystate available or onreadystatechange event available in Firefox? my requirement is to perform certain operation once element being loaded inside <object> tag is fully loaded and available.
Can assign a new function to a built-in object in Firefox:
But IE and Opera don't have a MouseEvent or HTMLElement that can be set up in the same way. Can you do this in IE or Opera, or just Firefox, and maybe Webkit?
how to get DWR readyState as in AJAX. I am using Springs.
Problem for me is sometimes the Flow continues even before Ajax values being returned and hence ends up in some error. If I can get the readyState, then i can check whether it is 4, so that I can make the flow to continue further.
I'm using the XMLHTTPRequest JavaScript object to fetch updated info from the server.
The problem I'm having occurs on Windows 2000/IE 6. There is a very long pause on readyState 3 (close to a minute, maybe more) but it eventually gets to readyState 4. I have no idea why. The page works just fine on Windows XP/IE 6.
There is no delay or hang up on the server side as far as I can tell (if we get to readyState 3 is because the server already sent its response).
Does anyone know what takes place between readyState 3 and 4 and why does this happen on Windows 2000 but not on Windows XP? Code:
I have several functions with code along the lines of:
var xmlDoc = requestXML("ajax.asp?SP=SelectRelatedTags&tag=" + array[i]);
The requestXML() function includes the code:
var xmlDoc = null; http_request.onreadystatechange = function() { if (http_request.readyState == 4) { if (http_request.status == 200) { xmlDoc = http_request.responseXML; } else { alert('There was a problem with the request.' + http_request.status); }}}; http_request.open('GET', url, true); http_request.send(null); return xmlDoc;
However, the last line (the return) executes before the readyState reaches 4. How do I return the xmlDoc to the functions only once the xmlDoc has been assigned? I tried putting the return statement in a while loop with the condition that the readyState must = 4 - this worked, but makes the browser popup a message saying the script is slowing down the system.
site_url is a link to tinyurl script which return a tiny url in this form [URL]now this working very fine with firefox but not with IE and google chrome sometimes it working and always get error " j.readyState is null or not an object
I'm having problems with a custom JS object (XMLLoadObject) I designed to load XML and XSL files, perform an XSL transform with them and embed the resultant HTML fragment into the host HTML document. I designed this object so that I could generate and embed HTML fragments from more than one XML/XSL source into a single HTML document. This is done by instantiating an XMLLoadObject with an XML filename, an XSL filename, and the ID of the HTML element as arguments. Once the object is created, XSL Parameters can be assigned to the transformation with a member function. Finally the documents are loaded and transformed with call to the member function xmlLoad(). A distinct object must be instantiated for each transform. The object assigns closured member functions as event handlers to give access to the object's XML Document and XSL Document objects (member data). Code:
data = ajaxRequest.responseText ; var jsonOBJ = eval('(' + data + ')'); len = jsonOBJ.application.length ; key = jsonOBJ.application[i].optionValue ; value = jsonOBJ.application[i].optionDisplay ;
Internet Explorer is able to process the above code , but while trying from Firefox , I am getting the below error message
jsonOBJ has no properties [Break on this error] len = jsonOBJ.application.length ;
What it is supposed to do is pull down the background image of my nav panel by setting the CSS height to match the length of the page. I got it to work in IE but it does not work in Opera or Firefox. I'm not sure how to access the correct object in Opera and FF.

Well, I'm a new user so I can't post the link to the problem.
I'm new to client side js, so I'm trying to figure out the relationship between the js frames object and the <frame></frame> tags. I have read and reread the information in my book on this subject and googled many examples, but still need clarification.if I have the following code in the body of an HTML document.
Then I should get back 2 when I do this alert(document.frames.length);
Instead I get document.frames is undefined from Foxfire and get 0 from ie8.If I replace document with top, window, self or parent I get 0 in both Foxfire and ie8.
I am integrating PHP with javascript and css to create an image gallery for an art site. When a user clicks a thumbnail, the painting shows above the thumbnails, and data about the painting, along with an artist statement (in the form of an image) shows up on the right side. Everything works as it should with firefox and safari, but the statement image is not showing up in explorer. I right click the broken image and it shows the correct url, but the image is not/won't be displayed. What am I missing?
function displaySetter(value) { var parent = findParent(document, this); if (parent) { if (parent.tagName == 'TD' && value.toLowerCase() == 'inline' ) { value = 'table-cell' } } this.setProperty('display', value , 'important'); }
function findParent(obj, style) { var nodes = obj.childNodes; if (obj.style == style) { return obj; } for(var i = 0; i < nodes.length; i++) { var suBsearchResult = findParent(nodes[i], style); if (suBsearchResult) { return suBsearchResult; } } return false; }
As you can see each time I need to scan whole document for parent which I would like to avoid. Is there any other way to get an object on which style is applied to?
I'm a newbie to JSON and have been trying to parse some data and send it to a function that writes some html. I can do this in IE, but I can't get it to work in firefox. Code:
I have a script that works in Firefox but not IE6-
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> document.Params.ThisPageURL.value=document.URL; var x = new Date (); document.Params.TimeZoneOffset.value =x.getTimezoneOffset(); document.Params.submit (); </script>
The form is set this way: <FORM ACTION="<?php echo("$Action"); ?>" METHOD="POST" NAME="Params" <input type="hidden" NAME="ThisPageURL" value=""><input type="hidden" Name="$ERR" value=""><input type="hidden" name ="TimeZoneOffset" value=""><input type="hidden" Name="$U" value=""><input type="hidden" Name="$R" value=""><input type="hidden" Name="$T" value="">
I get the following error in IE: document.Params.ThisPageURL is null or not an object
Here's the example:Basically, there is a QuickTime object under one of the expanded menus. When the menu is opened, the QT partially renders on top of the menu, especially when rolling over the expanded menu.Only tested in FF and Safari as of now, and it only happens in FF.I tried some of the Flash solutions, but no dice.
I have a php page which returns a table representing a query sent to a MySQL database. So far it has worked in every case except now that I'm trying to use it to call a stored procedure, in which case the readystate is staying at 1 and never completing.
I have logged the results of the php file both in an error log and looked at the response from the request using firebug, both of which show a correct result.
Why isn't this returning properly?
Here are the relevant javascript functions:
Code: function customizeType() { $("custom-header").innerHTML = ""; $("custom-top").innerHTML = "";
[Code]....
After the page loads, the error log shows correct results for all queries.
I just got this script for a countdown on a website and I got it to work locally but when I upload it to the server i get the error "index.html:22 Uncaught TypeError: Object [object Object] has no method 'fancycountdown'".
I have checked to make sure all other javascript files are loading and they are and I can't figure out whats wrong. You can see it [URL]
I have come across an issue that only happens with IE.I have a custom save function that is designed to handle different ajax submits but I will simplify it for debugging. The issue is that once I make a submit everthing is fine at first. Then once I try to submit a second time it craps out. I am checking to see if there is an onsubmit function and then executing it like so before continuing. After the inital submit it is no longer found. When I alert the typeof document on the form it returns object but when I add the onsubmit it says object expected or object is null or undefined.
Code:
function secureBarSubmit(formId) { alert(typeof document.getElementById(formId)); // object always alert(typeof document.getElementById(formId).onsubmit); // func first time then it is broken
Is there any way at all to create a new template object that inherits from the built in Date object so as to be able to add new methods to that child object without adding them to the built in Date object? I've tried everything I can think of and as far as I can tell it keeps referencing the Date function instead of the Date object and so doesn't work.
I have an object with a single Method to load content from a xml file. The problem is... how do I add a property to the object to store the data loaded?? I tryed adding a simple Array inside the object, but didn't work.
I am using a Photo Gallery script called Galleria which uses jQuery/JavaScript to display photos. On my index page load (only in Internet Explorer), a message box pops up saying "Message from Web Page [object Object]". After clicking OK the photo gallery loads and there is no problem.No idea how to fix this, or really what the error means. You can view the error from my site here
