View 9 Repliesi have a registration form, which has a general user information. now i had added the jquery validate plugin for validation purpose, and it was working fine in firefox. but recently i came to know that the same form is giving errors in IE, i dont know the reason but its not validating the form.
if we click on the save button , its just going to the previous page.
I am looking to add an email validation to my new user registration form. Currently, we do not validate (or activate) a new user via an activation link in the email. We don't have that process. I'd like to get my hands on the code to randonly create a security code and the actual code to sent the validation email. Can anyone help me out here? I'm absolutely new to PHP or ASP coding. I do know some HTML.

The problem is all the error messages appear in one div together and I would like to have each field have its own div containing only its own error.
I think I need to wrap my error messages in xml and use something like this -

Does anyone know how I should modify my code to do this?

I am creating a form for a registration that asks the participant if they have completed pre-requisite training. There are three questions they are asked. When they click yes, the text box for the requested information is enabled, when they click no, they get a warning that they need to register first.
Here is the javascript
The first one works fine (the SERE training question), however, the second one does not function at all. What am I missing to enable the second question to function like the first.
I am using javascript validation for submitting a form. All the other fields are working except for the Terms of Use checkbox. It sends and alert and says it wasn't checked whether or not you check it. It also submits the form whether or not it is checked immediately after the alert. The field is called df_Terms. Can anyone see anything I am missing?

I cannot get the rules I define to process when validating a form in IE6. I found some folks couldn't use the minified version of the .js file, but I tried both and am still getting nowhere. This works in FF. The submitHandler runs (I'm showing an alert) but the validations aren't running. Below is the code.
<html>
<head>
<script src="jquery.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="jquery.validate.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
var prospectTxErrors = {
prospectName : {
required : "An entry is required in field Prospect.",
rangelength : "Prospect Name must be between 2 and 45 characters."
}, .....
I have to build a small contactform validator in JS, which checks the fields' values when submit is clicked. I am experiencing problems with getting the email validation to work properly. This is what I've got:
When I don't fill in anything in the email field, I indeed get the proper alert. But when I fill in a string between 1 and 7 characters, the (document.contact.email.length < 7) is not met. The same goes for the last two conditions: (!document.contact.email.indexOf("@")) || (!document.contact.email.indexOf(".")). Even when (one of) these two conditions are not met, it is possible to submit the form...
I am trying to develop a form with email validation but i am recieving an error which is this

I am creating a form using php, with which I can successfully validate and strip html tags. What I am trying to do is use JS to automatically strip tags whenever the user leaves the text field so they see any changes before submitting.Here is my code:

I'd like to have one form that has username and password at the top and if that is all the user supplies, then try to log him in. Otherwise, validate all fields for registration.
The problem then lies in the remainder of the form which has email, name and password confirmation. I still want to run validate on those fields but ONLY if the user has typed at least one character in any one of them.
Is there a way to do this? Or an example somewhere? Can validate for certain fields only be turned on IF a certain other condition is met?
I want to create a twitter like user registration form for my asp.net(C#) web application. I have configured asp.net membership module for my site. I have searched alot but couldn't find any all in one JQuery Plugin which provide the following functionalities to my webform-
1. Form Feild highlight when onFocus and on error
2. Tooltip when form field is in focus
3. Proper client-side form validation
4. Check user name availability

I am building a large registration form. In this form, a sponsor/educator must register himself or herself and then may add up to 6 more " delegates" in pairs. The first two pairs registration info on the form is shown by default. I need to hide the other two pairs until when/if the user clicks on a button to add two more delegates at a time. I used javascript to show or hide the parts of the form that I had put into two divs and adjusted the css display attribute. However, my problem was that, if the user filled out the sponsor/educator section and the first two delegates, and then decided to add two more, when the user clicked on the button to show the part of the form for delegates 3 and 4, it reset all the previous visible form fields to empty. Not good. So, I thought, maybe AJAX.
I created the request object (I am a relative novice at AJAX), had it grab a text file with the code to insert into my target div, in this case a div with id = "delegate3and4". Surprisingly however, it still reset the previous form fields to empty. Am I misunderstanding how AJAX is supposed to work? I figured that, because it does not refresh the page that this would not happen. In fact, to test this out, I created a simple page from scratch with just a single input field and then used AJAX to insert the file in a div after this field and it did not reset the previous input. So, I am totally confused about why this would be happening on my live page. The page is a php page as it submits the form to a php script for processing but I don't think this should make a difference.
What I want to do is somehow get my browser version through javascript:
Code:
var browse = navigator.appName; and then mail that to myself. I can't figure out how to get that variable into php so I can email. I'm aware of the difference between client/server side, so I need to know how I could POST the value to another page or something.

I'm working on a form. The one thing i can't get to work is the following:

I am having trouble with validation not working in IE 8. I have a popup form which I have implemented from: [url]
Also I have added additional functionality using a validation script I found at: [url]
Now this works fine in FF and chrome, but it doesnt work in IE 8 and probably 6 and 7 too. The problem is that the form doesnt always show up. I tested when the form isnt hidden and it works perfectly fine.

how can I write a Javascript for a HTML form which when filled will send
an email to the defined email address in the JS code.
Pardon me for asking a basic question. I basically need a pointer to an example or ways to learn this -- including an editor I should use for scripting. I would like to do the following:
Divide a window into 3 panes; Display & manage messages in one pane; Each message has a unique subject line; Each message can be opened or deleted or forwarded.
I want to get IE5 to send the contents of an HTML form by e-mail using Outlook. I know that the basic idea is to make the recipients' e-mail address the Action. I can make a blank message open addressed as required but I can't get the user's input to appear in the message body.
View 9 Replies View RelatedScript to prevent browsers pop up E-mail privacy warning when submiting a form
A very basic form has been employed :
<form name=formulario action="mailto:ron_wolpa@hotmail.com"
method=post enctype="text/plain"> form contents ......</form>;
(I don´t domine cgi- bin nor php , and even I if did it some servers where I host my files do not support both , that´s the reason action is a simple mailto: )
It works fine but as visitor press button "SUBMIT" , browsers like IE and Netscape pops up a privacy warning screen notifying visitor that his email will be disclosed ;
a 2nd pop up demands another click confirmation to send the information collected by the form ;
What I have in mind is a script to do the following :
1- to submit the form just by clicking submit button once
2- as visitor press on submit button , will be directed to another html document where will receive the usual thanks and the confirmation message ;
I find it necessary because as the basic form is above the message is sent and the form fields are not cleared , not giving the visitor any confirmation ;
