Jquery :: LocalStorage.removeItem Not Working When Passing Id?

Im playing with HTML5 LocalStorage and it seems pretty straight forward for the most part. Load the page with the following to insert the test values.
Code:
localStorage.setItem("artist-0", "0"); //saves to the database, key/value
localStorage.setItem("artist-1", "1");
localStorage.setItem("artist-2", "2");
localStorage.setItem("artist-3", "3");

For a calendar project implemented with pure HTML/CSS/JS I need to access local data files (.ICS). These ICS/iCal data has to be accessed also by other applications (eg. sync, backup, etc).Can anyone point to a possible solution to use HTML5 compatible calls (or jQ plugin) AND how to access the localStorage files also from the other apps.

So i am working on a piece that using local storage and saves them to an un ordered list. I have been using Chrome for the console and inspector abilities and it has been going well. I've tested it before in Safari and Opera and I know it works. However, in Firefox (and IE but I don't care about that) I am getting a console error.
Here is the code being executed:
There is some jQuery thrown in there but basically it says, test for a localStorage key of i, if it is not null create the list item, add one to i and repeat.
I am getting the following error in firefox only:
Index or size is negative or greater than the allowed amount" code: "1 [Break on this error] while (localStorage.key(i) != null)

I've been experimenting with Local Storage. I can do things like this just fine:
But if I do this:
...then place it in local storage, reading it back gives me a TEXT STRING that says "[Object object]" and not the actual object.
I would like to be able to store multiple values in one object, but it doesn't seem to work.
I also tried to store a variable obtained with "document.getElementById" and when read back it just says [HTMLDivElement] (something like that) instead of the actual element.
Am I doing something wrong, or does local storage not support objects? (btw, tested on FF 3.6).

How do I check to see if HTML5 localstorage is empty?
I don't need to know what's inside just if there is anything inside.
Code:
This is returning empty all the time.

I'm attempting to track changes to values I've stored in the localStorage object. From everything thing I've read, this is done by adding a "storage" event listener to the window object but the test file I made doesn't seem to fire the event. I was under the impression that there was pretty good support for this (although I do realize the spec is still under revision).
Code:
if(localStorage) {
// Set Item
button1 = document.createElement("input");
[Code].....
I create two buttons on the page - the first to write a value to localStorage (which works) and the second to clear all values from localStorage (also works). The problem is the event just does not want to fire for me. Even if I set the event on the window's "onstorage" property rather than use addEventListener, no event fires. I've tried in the most recent Chrome, Firefox and Safari browsers.

I've just started my venture into HTML5 localStorage. I now have a javascript my server sends to those who visit my ip address. I store all their data using localStorage. I have a few security questions regarding the HTML5 localStorage situation:
1. Can a script that did not create the local storage retrieve/modify the localStorage of another script just by guessing the key maliciously or unintentionally?
2. Can another script use the clear() method to remove my scripts data? Edit: I just tried this myself. And, yes, I deleted my data, all of it with clear() using a different script. Is there any way to prevent this? Is it only my end that will be able to do it or could I load a script from a site has a hidden clear() method and destory all other javascript apps data?
3. If item (2) is true, any ideas on how to protect my scripts data for the user from the clear method?
4. if item (2) is false, cool, my first idea is to create a uniqnue string random string and ask the user to creat a password to encrpt that string and just use that string with enumeration added to it for the keys.
5. Does anyone know where localData is stored? Is it encrypted already, in plain text, in well-known or hidden location?

I've been using localStorage to store a large amount of data (> 5mb). I know that most browsers limit localStorage to 5mb. However, on the specification site it states,
Quote:
User agents may prompt the user when quotas are reached, allowing the user to grant a site more space. This enables sites to store many user-created documents on the user's computer, for instance.
Is this available yet? If so, how would I use it?

I've been workling seperately with PHP/ MySQL and am now trying to get things together with jQuery which I have so far only used with non-dynamic content. Here is the setting I am trying to achieve:
I have one php file that generates two different contents depending on the setting of a status-variable $ncs. If $nsc=0 the main page is loaded, showing an overview of all available news-articles. If $ncs=1 the content of a specific article is shown fully. The jQuery connected to each case differs. So i would like to pass the varible $ncs over to my jQuery script:
Code JavaScript:
I have checked that $ncs is not NULL on the rendered page. However after being passed to the jQuery script the variable is undefined. I have never connected PHP and jQuery so it is probably a general twist in my idea of how it works. I tried passing different variables and all are undefined in jQuery. What do I have to attend to when passing PHP-variables to jQuery?

i'm hoping to have a file 1.php, which takes in a userid via form input, which sends it to file 2.php which shows you available options depending on your userid, and a file 3.php which alters database values depending on your action, and applies it to values corresponding to the userid.
i'm using ajax to request the pages, so they seem to "stack" on the page for the end user
say 1.php
//ajax call up here with a getdocumentbyid to get our 'key' and put it into our get function as a querystring ?key=key in the call for 2.php
<form>
<input type='text' id='key' />
</form>
<div> and 2.php should appear here </div>
[Code]....
so in principle should this work? the last time i pasted all of my scripting here i got zero responses, so i'm trying a different approach this time

I hav a setTimeout at the tail end of a function. On time out I am running a function and passing argument values but they do not seem to be passing to the setTimeout.
For example (snippet from full code to save you time)
Code:
var billboard_number_new = 3;
setTimeout("rw_billboard_num_chooser(billboard_number_new)", 5000 );
Even if I test with an alert it still will not acknowledge the value of billboard_number_new
Code:
var billboard_number_new = 3;
setTimeout("alert(billboard_number_new)", 5000 );

I'm trying to trap a user entry that cannot be found in the database. When a code is entered, the page should give a "Code Not Found" message if it is an undefined value.
However, it didn't; and it always shows the "undefined" value to the page instead.
Here's what I actually did:

To sum up this issue, I have a parent page, which holds some values in hidden input fields passed to them from the url. On this page, I have an iframe with a form in it, to which I want to pass values from these hidden fields to be displayed for the user in the iframe form. In IE, it works. To accomplish this, im just simply doing a <body onload="GetInput()">. The GetInput function does the following, but for about 10 fields:
Fnamefield=document.getElementById('firstname').value = parent.document.getElementById('firstname').value; Thats it. Once the page loads, i see my values. In firefox it does not work. I know the hidden fields are getting their values, but thats as far as it makes it. I have tried calling the GetInput function after the form is written out and not in the body tag, which still works for IE, but not FF.

I'm passing the variables myTitle and myLink to form.php using javascript.
This is the way I'm doing it:
Code:
<a href='form.php?title=" + myTitle +"&link="+myLink+">Click me</a>
It's working great but sometimes myTitle and myLink contain the plus character (+). When this happens it's not passed. In the case of the title, it's just a problem of looks but in the case of the link, well, the link won't work without the character.
As an example if the title is: Laptop + Accessories What is passed is: Laptop Accessories
What can I do to pass also the plus character??

This probably seems pretty trivial to you experts but I just don't know why it doesn't work and would like a nudge in the right direction please.I have a sllide and fade that works great - no problems. I am firing it with a function call from the HTML like so;<a href='#' onClick='sfade('#s1'); return false;>as you see I am passing the div to be faded(and slid) as a variable. Works great. The receiving function is:
var str='';
function sfade(str){
$(str).slideFadeToggle(1000);

Im simply trying to make a dynamic searchbar so that the results pop up as someone write in the keywords. Problem 1 :When i pass foreign char types through jquery's $.ajax(); such as:
[code]....
they get translated to some weird characters when i try to compare them in the mysql database.javascript side:
Code:
$("#id_study4").keyup(function() {
var keyword = $("input[name=study4]").val();
var school_id = $("select[name=school4]").val();
[code]....
And the second problem is simply when i get he search results, i have the keyword emphasized with bold font weight, and text underline so that people can see. The problem here is that if i search with the keyword bach, then result becomes <b>bach</b>elor with all small letters when it should be <b>Bach<b/>elor. The way i have done this can be seen below:
Code:
str_ireplace($keyword, "<b>".$keyword."</b>", $study['study_name'])

What I'm trying to do is quite simple but as a beginner I'm getting incredibly frustrated with it. Here's my first attempt. I plan to do something a bit more fancy with the images, but I could see straight away that this wasn't the solution. Mouseover was changing the image before it had faded out and looked horrible. So, I thought I might put all the images in the same place and hide them, making them visible and bringing them to the front on mouseover of the corresponding hotspot.

I'm working on a generator that is supposed to do something after something is selected from forms. So here it goes: I got two select forms now. After I select the value from the first form the value of the form is passed to the second form and it then generates it's own values depending on the value it gain. I realized that you can do this without page refresh with JQuery and I thought that would be nice and I gave it a try but now I'm stuck and here is my problem:
I've problem at passing the right value from the first form. I only want the value of the option that is selected. All my values are coming from MySQL database. I've tried this: var str = $('#customer').val(); (customer being the id of my select tag of the form) but it just returns an empty array. I don't want to pass array in the first place. I just want to pass the value.
I've tried serialization too but iit passes the right value but it passes it so many times as I have options in my form.
