I want a webpage to display a validation box while it charges.... I want
that, as the page is requested, the first thing that appears is a box that
asks for a name and a password. If the password supplied is wrong, then the
javascrip sends you to a 'forbidden acces' page, else it displays the
contents of the page. The thing is that it all has to be in the same page. I
have programmed a lot under C and C++ so I only have some problems with
knowing which functions to use. Any guidelines, or help? Does anybody know
how to do this, which should be fairly simple.
Recently while messing with dates, I noticed an odd quirk in javascript with new Date(), i.e. if someone enters an invalid date, such as 2/29/2003, javascript creates the new date as 3/1/2003.
Having a look around, I couldn't find any scripts that took advantage of this for the sake of date validation... probably someone here has done this before, but I'll post it anyway.
The idea is that if javascript creates a new Date() with a different month, then obviously the date entered is not valid. Most of the scripts I saw used some math to divide by leap year, yadda yadda yadda, but with this feature (?) of javascript, it seems unnecessary.
Right now this code only validates mm/dd/yyyy, but it should be easy to modify to support other formats:

I've got this to work before on other sites, but for some reason it's not working on this site and I just don't know why and I don't understand what the error is telling me.
Is it possible to check an option/select box to see if it still has data in it? I'd like to be able to stop a user from updating a file IF the field they are copying from still has content in it. I.e.

I've tried to attempt it but my mind cannot really handle anything more than (Check kettle for water, IF water equal or less than 1 cup full, then fill kettle with water, If kettle equal to or greater than 3 then STOP).
All I need is a script to check whether a field contains an exact code. For example,
A user goes through a game, collects pieces of the code - In this case random numbers or letters to form a 9 digit code.
The user can then enter this code into the field, hit submit and told whether they've cracked the code or not.
So basically something like, if this field contains "123456789" then go to WellDone.html but if it contains anything else other than this code then go to BadLuck.html ,

This is fine, because QuestionSeventeen is a text field. However, I have a number of radio and checkbox values on my form which I need to make sure are not NULL.
I want to make this more efficient and not use LOTS of these nested IFs.
i.e., does anyone have any code that will check firstly specified text fields, then radio buttons, then checkboxes in a more efficient manner?
so.... somthing like this process is what I want to achieve
Function validate()
- make array of text fields, loop through them checking not null THEN
- make array of checkbox fields, loop through them checking not null THEN
- make array of radio button fields, loop through them checking not null THEN
If all OK, save doc otherwise alert that field needs to be filled in then gocus on that field END FUNCTION
My JavaScript Form Validation doesn't work at all in Netscape, but it works fine in IE.
I made some of the suggested changes which enabled it to work in IE. I couldn't make all the changes because then it didn't work in IE.
How can I enable this javascipt form validation to work in Netscape? When I use netscape, none of the alert boxes appear. It submits the form without validating anything.
In IE, I get all the alert boxes and everything is validated.
Is there a way by which I can validate in javascript whether the file I'm trying to upload is an existant one(i.e., one which is present in my local folder).

I have a formdivided into 2 fieldsets (see the image) : MASTER and DETAIL. When I press Add in the DETAIL fieldset a new item is added to an array where I store temporarly the data entered trough the DETAIL inputs and finally when I press save I send both the MASTER and DETAIL (the temporary array shown in the html table) data to the server. As you may have already noticed, I need to validate both MASTER an DETAIL, but I don't want the Save button to fire the DETAIL validation or the Add link to fire the MASTER validation. I've been googling for a while and though I couldn't find exactly what I've been looking for, I found that it's possible to add/remove a class (e.g, required, number); that gave me some ideas on how to simulate validation groups and here's the code:

Although this code allow me to stop the MASTER validation from firing when I press Add( and DETAIL validation when I click Save), I still can't manage to insert a new DETAIL if only if all of the inputs in the DETAIL fieldset are valid and, what's more I don't want the Add link to cause a form submission.

I have a table with a list of radio-buttons and above that is a drop down list of states. The drop down list of states is used to filter the table rows and when the selected item changes it posts-back to the server (via $("#frm").submit()). I don't want this to cause any validation to occur. Is there another function I can call besides submit(), or some other method?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've put together a pretty simple competition script - it's commented out below and you can find the demo at [URL] (you'll find the code at the bottom of the page) I am using a jquery plugin to achieve the validation: [URL] The problem is only in Firefox (3.5.2) - the form submits without any validation at all, and ignores the ajax. IE8 & 7 seem to be fine. I'm not really sure why Firefox is submitting the page with Refresh but IE isn't, I've looked over and over the code and can't find the error. Firebug is only finding errors in the jQuery library itself.
