I am trying to create a basic a accordian style menu. Im guessing i have done 90% of the code, but a little stuck now.I have three widget and what I am attempting to do is hide all the widgets apart from the one actually clicked. My code so far is as follows.
$(".widget-title").click(
function () {
$("#widget1_content").hide(); //My Widgets
$("#widget2_content").hide();
I am working on a website and discovered this vertical accordion style navigation bar that works perfectly for my needs. I am not a programmer though and have never worked with jquery so I need a little help tweaking a part of this navigation.
The instruction page that I cut and paste the code from is here: [url]
I have two menu items that don't need a dropdown component (the "home" button and the "contact us" button). They are pretty much stand alone links. You can view my page at: [url]
Is it possible to make the home and contact buttons a stand alone link themselves? I don't want it to open a sublink as there are none connected to these two buttons...
Also, where in the code do I place the info if it is possible.
I've been using the accordian tutorial but was wanting to save it's state after I click the link
[URL]
for instance if I open the accordian to heading two and click link 4 it would be great for it to stay like it on when link4 page loads (so the users know where they are)eg:
Alright so you have the header, horizontal menu, then content below it. The horizontal menu has to expand PUSHING the content down slightly expanding the wrapper. I'm hoping someone can help me out with this because right now it's not even horizontal. When I flip it it all breaks
I have been playing with a bit of code I found of the web and it works well, it basicly allows me to create pages and navigate between them all done via JQuery. The one question I have is, how hard is it to add some simple animation to it, such as fadein which if I have read correctly is built into JQuery?
How can I get rid of the slide effect on a basic horizontal menu? I love the way the "basic" example works but I can't mimic it without having the text all slide to right and re-sizing the box.
I needed a sidebar menu that, when a user clicks the <h3>, a submenu expands. When the user then clicks on a different menu item, the previous submenu disappears meaning only one submenu can be visible at one time.
Now the code I have at the moment (from jQuery forums) works. It now needs a bit more refining so that it works the way I intend.
When you first load the page, all of the submenus are collapsed which is a real pain as each submenu has 20 - 30 selections.
Is there a way to have them all hidden initially?
Is there a way to get an open submenu to close by clicking on the H3 title again?
Since the site is local only, I posted up a sample on my JSfiddle account.

This one, which I also found on google, did what I wanted, but without the smooth slide animation. - [url]
When you then click on one of the H3's, it kicks into action and works great!
I am trying to create a basic unobtrusive form validation function but I am having some issues/questions. Basically I am checking if any of the form fields have <= 3 characters, and if they do so, then I make those fields' backgrounds and borders red. Also in the empty <span> tags I insert an error message. My issues/questions are:
#1: So when I say if (fieldVals<=3) this means that the errors should appear if the values are 1,2 or 3 characters long, right? It does not do that though, when I insert one character in any of the form fields the errors go away, but they should not, right?
#2: How do I cancel the form from submitting if errors are visible and vice versa? When I use the return false when errors are visible, the code does not even run. What is going on? return true does the same.
#3: When I use a submit button(type="submit") instead of just a button(type="button"), the code does not run? What am I doing wrong?
I am not trying to use this on a website, I am just trying to learn how to use unobtrusive javascript. That's why I am only checking for empty fields. If I learn how to do this first, later I will try to add email check, date check etc.
I am trying to create a specific menu using jQuery where i want to toggle a clicked menu item. I used toggleClass to accomplish this. All fine and well, but what i want is that once i click a menu item, the previously clicked item should have the active state/class toggled off.. The menu is variable. (I tried and tried and searched all over the internet, but i cannot find it... spent 5 hours trying to combine various selectors and if/else statements, but it did'nt work.)
I'm almost done customizing the Superfish jQuery menu to fit my web site theme. I have all of the menu hover and submenu hover styles in place, but I'm having a problem with the color of the top-level menu item's font when the submenu is expanded. The active top menu item's background matches the hover color, but when I hover overa submenu item, the font color reverts back to the original (non-hovered) color. How do I get the top level menu item's color to match its hover color when the submenu is expanded?
The relevant portions of my CSS are as follows: .sf-menu a, .sf-menu a:visited { /* visited pseudo selector so IE6 applies text colour*/ color:#8C1C39; }.sf-menu a.sfHover { color:#FFFFFF; }.sf-menu li { background:transparent; }.sf-menu li li { background:#FFFFFF; }.sf-menu li li li { background:#9AAEDB; }.sf-menu li:hover, .sf-menu li a:hover { color: #FFFFFF; background:#00207B;outline:0; }.sf-menu a:focus, .sf-menu a:active, .sf-menu li li a:hover, .sf-menu li.sfHover { background:#8C1C39; color: #FFFFFF; outline:0; }
I need to collect all the style information from an indesign file and i have to display as combo box and the user should seelct the style name. The selected style names i have to list in a seperate text box and when i select okay i have to search some text and replace in the document where this selected style name paragraphs only.
I want to create a gallery of images with a fancybox-esque style but incorporate the "folder functionality" that this site has: [URL] In other words: When I click on an image I want it to expand to "fullscreen". (This I can manage with fancybox.) What I can't work out how to do is display more images from the same photo-session at the bottom of the fullscreen.
I am trying to get an accordian script to work within tabs, here is the code I just can't get it to work, I realise the issue of the inactive tab displaying none which causes problems, I have tried a few work arounds but still not working [code]...
How do I create a Contact form which appears in a lightbox style window?Is this possible? I'm looking to have it pop up infront of the current window and can then be faded out like the lightbox animation.
im using the jquery accordian on two divs, the first time the page loads the first div displays as it should you then click the header and the second displays as it should.but when you click on the 1st header to display the first content again the content has scroll bars AHH
I am combining a select box enhancer called Chosen from [URL]... When the States section is toggled, the accordian's area is not grown when the chosen is activated and shows a scrollbar when it shouldn't.How do I need to handle that?
im using some accordian jquery code and the accoridian is open when i view the page.... is there anyway i can have it closed and i can click to open it
im using this code:
window.addEvent('domready', function() { var status = { 'true': 'open', 'false': 'close'
I have a script that works perfectly on a live site that basically has a menu that reveals a hidden DIV and when you click a link, and then when you click a new link it hides the previous div and reaveals the new one. It is as follows:
Javascript Code: Original - javascript Code LastLayer = "nothing"; // the first div/layer function openObject(theLayer){ // pass the name of the layer you want to bring to the top // Then hide the last layer, and make the layer passed visible. This could have been done using the z-index property if (document.getElementById) { // if it's IE5 or NS6 use this syntax to access the visiblity attribute eval("document.getElementById(LastLayer).style.visibility = 'hidden'") eval("document.getElementById(theLayer).style.visibility = 'visible'") LastLayer = theLayer; } if(document.layers) { // if it's NS4 use this syntax to access the visiblity attribute eval('document.layers[LastLayer].visibility = "hidden"') eval('document.layers[theLayer].visibility = "visible"') LastLayer = theLayer; } .....
Now I am redesigning the site to work with a new style sheet, (There wasn't one before, it was all inline styles. Anyway, it broke my script. The CSS has a class that gives certain DIV's visibility attribute the 'hidden' value by default. I was planning on using the above script to reveal/hide them, but it does nothing. Here is the CSS that affects the divs I am referring to.
CSS Code: Original - css Code .job { border: thin solid #000000; float: right; margin-right: 25px; padding-left: 10px; width: 40%; display: none; } .job { border: thin solid #000000; float: right; margin-right: 25px; padding-left: 10px; width: 40%; display: none;} As you can see there is nothing fancy in the css that would cause any concern.
I have an accordian list much like the example here : Say for instance i have page links under the heading 'Section 2' of that demo.How can i make it so that when you visit a page from these links 'Section 2' is now active (by that i mean expanded, instead of the first item as default)I am looking at this information provided on the same page , but it's not really making sense to me.Selector for the active element. Set to false to display none at start. Needs collapsible: true.Code examplesInitialize a accordion with the active option specified.
$('.selector').accordion({ active: 2 });
Get or set the active option, after init.
//getter var active = $('.selector').accordion('option', 'active'); //s
