How To Disable Textbox

I would like to find out how to disable textbox from user entry. I have a form that consist of 2 portion (header and details). The detail portion has multiple rows(where I use a for loop) . All the rows should be disabled upon loading. The first row is open for entry only when all the header fields are entered. Subsequent row is open for entry when the 1st row is entered and so forth. I called an external javascript function to disabled all the fields in the form but somehow give an error - undefined.

I have this "search" textbox and every time it's been used my browser saves that data and next time I type something similar to that the browser shows me those results.
I want to disable this.

came across this forum while searching for an example of how to do something in Javascript, and found the post helpful, but didn't quite answer my query completely... It was a very old thread, few years old, though so I thought best not to revive it from the murky depths :)Basically, I very rarely use JavaScript... in fact, I rarely do any programming at all, but I'm trying to build a basic site at the moment, and I'm wanting to disable/enable a text box based on the value of a drop down menu...The idea behind it is that I have a sub title, and in the admin panel, I want to be able to set whether the sub title is picked randomly from a database, or whether it chooses one, and only one...So in the admin panel, I've got a page that has a drop down menu with two options. Static, and Random. Below this, I've got a text box called Static ID... In this text box, the administrator would insert the database row ID for the specific sub title they want...
Obviously this Static ID field only applies if you select a Static sub title, rather than a Random sub title...So what I want to happen is for the text box to be disabled if the drop down menu is selected as Random... and then enabled if the drop down is selected as Static...So I came across the following script on an old post as mentioned earlier:

My question is I have this for form with couple options and a text box and what I want to do is when user selects the "none" textbox to be enabled and if user chooses "mysite" option textbox to be disabled so user can't put his/her input.

I have a gridview with a checkbox (CheckBoxActiveClient) in the first column and a textbox (Copies) in the 5th column. I want that row's textbox (Copies ) to be disabled if the checkbox is unchecked in that row.

Below is the script and form fields I am working with. What I want to do is sum the two textbox fields and have the result show in the total textbox. The code works fine and the total textbox is updated with the value of form1.basic. The problem occurs when I add the "+ parseInt(document.form2.supporter.value)" code in the script section.

In my grid each row has a twin row (not consecutive) the rows each have 1 text box with a name containing txtAmt. When a user enters a value in the text box in a row. I need to put that value in the text box in the twin row. i got the blur function to work on each text box but do not know how to do the rest. I typed a description of the selector in each $().

I have two textbox columnsof equal length they are accessed in the following manner:

taborder 2 taborder 3 taborder 4 taborder 5 taborder 6 taborder 7 taborder 8
When I leave the first textbox (taborder 1), I need to check and see if the textbox contains avalue. If it does, then I need to check and see if the second textbox (taborder 2)contains a value. If it doesNOT, then I need to loadthe second textboxwith "100" and highlight (select) the text. I am adding a blur event to all the column one textboxes as they all contain"rawCount" in the id. Here is my blur event code:

I am doing a lottery project in which i have 10 textbox and i want to add contents of each textbox and show result in another textbox say 11th textbox.
I am having the fallowing codes below on jsp page.
I want to add contents of textbox from(n50,n51.....n59) and show result in another textbox named (n60)
My question is that the valus stored in textbox is numeric and when i enter the value in any two of the textbox say named (n50 and n51) then the addition of its value must be seen in the result textbox say (n60) here. it does not wait for another textbox value which is left blank. the result of addition should be displayed simelteneously as i enter the value in text box.

I have a perl cgi form that has a popup_list. Based on a value that
is coming in from a database query, I want to either
1) display the value (from the databse) and let the user change it;
OR
2) display the value (from the database), but NOT let the user change
it.
I tried using javascript to disable the popup list, and that works,
except the form "loses" the value of the entry in the popup list.
Maybe "disable" is not the correct property I want to use. If that is
the case, what is it?

What's the best way to display an image, disabling the user's ability to right-click on it?
I believe you have to use <body oncontextmenu="return false">. Would the
following work?

Since this is a frameless site, I don't think this would work, at least
would never get to the close()...
