View 2 Replies View RelatedI have written a JS search function. I want it to work with IE, Firefox, Opera and Windows Safari. At this point it is working in all four of these browsers except for one feature: if the word I'm searching for is at the bottom of the textarea (not in the visible text) then the search function will not scroll the text up so that the find is visible.
I should quickly say that this does work in IE but not in the other three browsers. I'm at a loss as to how to get the textarea to scroll the found word into view in FF, Opera and Safari.

I have created a floating layer using Javascript that remains always on top of page on scrolling.Issue is,at some point while scrolling,the layer flickers continuously.
The html page is as follows:
Many common software systems, JavaScript has a history of security problems. Many of these problems could allow a person with malevolent intent to steal sensitive information from a visitor. The number and type of such holes in security vary among browsers and operating system versions. Most JavaScript security holes have been caught and fixed, but new ones are being discovered all the time. For a list of current security holes check out your browser's and operating system's Web pages. As a Web site author, it is your responsibility to keep up-to-date on the current status of known security holes in the applications you create.
Signing Scripts. In Chapter 11, I explained that JavaScript does not provide the ability to directly access files on the client computer. This can be a very large hurdle to overcome if you're trying to upload a file to a server from the client computer. Fortunately, file uploading is one of many functional enhancements that signed scripts provide. Signed scripts are specially packaged scripts that have been verified and signed to be correct and non-threatening. These scripts have additional rights on the client computer that allow a programmer to do many things that he wouldn't otherwise be able to.
With the introduction of Netscape 4.0, a new security model was put in place that would allow digitally signed scripts to bypass some of the restrictions that had previously been placed on them. A signed script can request expanded privileges from the visitor and, with the visitor's permission, gain access to restricted data. A signed script requests these additional permissions through LiveConnect, which allows your JavaScript code to communicate with the Java Capabilities API. The security model allows JavaScript to access certain classes in Java in order to extend its functionality while still maintaining tight security for the client.
A digital signature is a fingerprint of the original programmer, and it allows the security model of the browser to detect where (or from whom) it originated. A script signer can be a person or an organization. By signing a script, you acknowledge yourself as the author and accept responsibility for the program's actions. A signed script contains a cryptographic checksum, which is just a special value that ensures the signed script has not been changed. When a digital signature is detected, you are assured that the code has not been tampered with since the programmer signed it.
Once you finish writing a script, you can use the Netscape Signing Tool to digitally sign it. Signing a script does the following:
Unambiguously assigns ownership of the script to a person or organization.
Allows an HTML page to use multiple signed scripts.
Places the signed script into a Java Archive (JAR) file.
Places the source of the script in the JAR file.
Once a user confirms the origin of the script and is assured that it has not been tampered with since its signing, he or she can then decide whether to grant the privileges requested by the script based on the validated identity of the certificate owner and validated integrity of the script.

jQuery - Scrolling browser Window. I have two demos of scrolling page content with jQuery.
This one - [url] is scrolling the contents inside a container and it works as I wanted on Mac/PC
Code:
I need the same effect as above but I need to scroll the whole browser window.
I have a demo here - [url]

Problem here is on the Mac the transition are jumpy and it seems to flash the first yellow div before sliding up or down. Testing on a PC it will slide down but won't slide up. How can I get the whole browser window to slide up and down with a smooth transition.
im searching for a plugin/code example for text scrolling. I got some text in a <div> if text is longer than for example 300px it gets cut and is scrolling from start to end, stops for a second and then scrolls back, stops and all over, and if its not long enough than 300px then just displays normaly. Something similar to the Song name scrolling inin anyMP3 player.

The Idea:I wanted to build a menu that when you hover the menu button the menubuttons slides up, when it is ready all the menubuttons will slide down. The next may slidedown when the first one is ready, etc.When you leave you mouse outside the picture, all the menuitems must slide up (like to have them slideup like it works when they slidedown) and the menubutton must slide down.The idea works, so that's not the problem, maybe the code could be better, but I thinks that's for later.The problem:When a user hovers very fast between menubutton and outside the picture the menubutton is slidedup, down etc. When you do this even faster the menuitems are stuck and shown, and that is not what I want.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm currently writing my first application in Rails and am having a few problems with JQuery. I'm basically building something similar to Apple Trailers or Trailer Addict. When someone hovers there mouse over the poster for the film I'd like the title (in an <h3> tag in the same <li>) to display beneath it.
I've spent hours trying to accomplish it but feel like im in the dark, poking around. I've made some progress but it displays all <h3> tags when I hover over one film's poster.
Is there a way to obtain the DIV you are currently hovering over using Jscript?
Basically I have ten thumbnails that I'd like to change the borderColor for using onmouseover. Instead of having to specifically create a DIV for each thumbnail (#tmb1, #tmb2, etc.) and then having to attach a separate function to each one (document.getElementById("tmb1").style.borderColor = "#660000") I'd like to be able to detect the DIV the mouse is currently over and change the borderColor of that.
I have over thirty pages, each with 10-15 thumbnails, which is why I'm trying to come up with something more generic.
This might be more of an HTML question, but I'm encountering it via
a javascript function. I'm trying to do rollovers without using
images. Here's some of the code:
On my website, i am trying to show a text when hovering (?) an image. For that, i use jquery. To be clear, image is contained in a div, then follow the text in antoher div, and both are repeated and contained in a div called "content". Here is my code:
$(document).ready(function(){
// listeners
$("#content div img").bind("mouseover",onMouseOverImage);
$("#content div img").bind("mouseout",onMouseOutImage);
[Code].....
The problem is that all div are showing and hiding, constantly... twinkling. I've tried to apply the onmouseout function on the second div, but even if the text shows up, it never hide.
Ive got a hover effect going on when someone hovers over the images on my page which works fine. However on the page load, I would like the first image atmaximum size which is height:101px by width:101px. Ive added the code
$
(
'ul#Magnifine li img:first'
)

Im making an employee roster in HTML... I want to be able to rollover (hover) on the employees name (text) and have an image come up, next to the mouse (floating on the screen) when I rollover someone elses name do the samething... when Im not over anyones name I dont want any images there.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a page that has a box where announements can be seen. What I want is that when the page loads a div containing some announcement text should show up within this box. The divshould remain within the box for about 10 seconds, whereafter it should start sliding to the left and eventuallydisapper. Butif the user during the sliding decides to Hover or clickwithin that div then the sliding should stop andthe div should move back to its initail position (so that the whole text can be read again). The div shouldnotbegin any sliding process as long as theuser is hoveringwithin the div. Howeverif the user hover out of the div then the sliding proces should begin again.
What I'm trying to achieve is to havea annoncement to show up in this box, only for 10 seconds,whereafterit should disapper (by sliding away). However if the user wants to reads the annonuncementhe should be able to do so, by hovering that announcement. And whenthe user hasfinished reading he can just hover away and the announcement will disapper within few secounds. I have done some work here and there. I have used the slider method from jqueryui and the hover methods and the initial sliding process when the page loads, but putting them all to gether is not going good.
