JQuery :: Cleaning Up Before Ajax Load - Loads Content From External Page - Html - Js

Jun 29, 2009

I have an ajax based page, which loads content from external page (html +js) So if i have a div "update_div" being updated with external content (html+js)

Let me be more specifig

Step1: Ajax content along with js loaded into update_div from a.html

Step2: Ajax content along with js loaded into update_div from b.html

What happens to the js loaded from a.html? Is it lurking in the memory or automatically/magically removed from the browser memory? I am afraid of memory leaks, if the js is still lurking in memory, the more ajax calls made, the more js is going to be held up in memory. Unless am totally wrong; i have no idea of the mechanism happening.

Does Pagination Have To Be With External Content

Jul 30, 2009

I need a small pagination on a page like this one [URL]

But I don't want to pull in the content from external pages, I'd rather it all be on the same page with most of it hidden... Ideally I'd like to use a list to display 10 items at a time, and when any more than 10 items are inserted you would get numbered tabs with which the user could interact with as in the example above...

Is this even possible? It doesn't have to be a list of items if this complicates things...

Getting Tooltip Content From An External Source?

Feb 2, 2009

Ive been using a javascript tooltip script in its extended configuration which allows you to convert a html element to a tooltip i found it here Ive have the tooltip setup on this page pre-pay-as-you-go.co.uk/vodafone-mobile-phones.html , if you move the mouse over the details link below each handset the tooltip pops up, these tooltips are coded into the page.If you go to the home page you will see the first three handsets are the same as the ones on the first page i showed you but without the tooltip included, this is due to page size constraints, is there a way of fetching or whatever its called the tooltip content from the first page to display on the home page?

Populate Dynamic Content By Getting Info From External File

Nov 10, 2011

I have a site setup, where each page has 3 <div> columns. In the 3rd <div> Column, I want to populate dynamic content. Basically, I want to have 1 external file, which holds the content to be populated. The 3rd <div> column on each page would need to pull the information from the 1 external file. I want to insert JavaScript in the 3rd <div> column to direct the page to pull this content from the 1 external file.

Example: 3rd <div> column could show Ads or Promotions. The external file holds the images, links, etc. for the specific Ads or Promotions. The external file can be edited just once and all pages automatically show this new content because the JavaScript in the 3rd <div> column pulls from this external file. This seems like it should be really simple, but I cannot find anything online that describes how to do this. I am likely not using the right keywords for my search because I am new to JS.

Loading External JS Before Page Page Load (specific Span Element)

Jul 19, 2010

My goal is to load the JS for a specific element before displaying that element. I integrated a third part script, and it works well. I set the timer here:

The JS is in my heading as <script type="text/javascript" src="countdownpro.js"></script>

About mid-body I have: <span id="countdown1">2010-07-20 00:00:00 GMT+00:00</span> which allows for the setting of a target date to countdown to.

When the page first loads it shows the above long format target time, until the js/meta tags kick in to modify it to just show the actual countdown as 00:00:00.

I have attached countdownpro.js to this post. I tried shifting the function CD_Init() to the top of the script, and also appended it inline with the .html. I tried setting the big external script to "defer", but neither arrangement worked. I also tried placing the src file right at the top.

Force External Page Into Iframe?

If I try to put a site into an iframe that has "escape frame" code in
its source (posted below), it will reload the requested page into the
parent instead of the iframe. Is there a way to prevent this from
happening?

One could use onunload to stop the redirection, but I would like to
find a way to load a page into an iframe, even if it has this type of
code.

I have considered server code loading the content and re-displaying it
but I would like to find a pre javascript solution.

//this is not my code
if (self != top) {
if (document.images) {
top.location.replace(window.location.href);
} else {
top.location.href = window.location.href;

JQuery :: Load Div With External Page?

I'm using the following JQuery Popup code to make smooth popups: [URL]

I was wondering how I can use use this to load external pages into the popup?

So instead of having a hidden <div> in the page, there would be some sort of empty <div (<div id='this'></div>). The when I click a link, an external page would be loaded into this empty.

So it would function just as it does in the above tutorial, expect the popup content would be coming from an another page, not within the page
