Forcing View Of HTML Within A Frame

Dec 1, 2005

I know you can use JS to prevent other sites from using your .html in a
frame / frameset.

Can the opposite be done ?

If your page is designed to be viewed inside a Frame / FS only;
and your page is requested, can you redirect to the Frame page, as intended ?

A Way To Dynamically View A Live Source Of A .html Page??

Aug 26, 2007

Many ajax and javascript functions change the innerHTML of elements in the source, writing and rewriting things in the source

You can run any javascript function or action you want that would change the source, but when you view it, it will always show the original source before a JS function changed it

Is there a way to view the changed source after each time a JS functoin changes it??

for example:
<span id="whatever">This is the original source code</span>

then you may run this piece of JS:
whatever.innerHTML= 'Changed source code!'

but when you right click and press 'view source"
you will always get this:
<span id="whatever">This is the original source code</span>

I want to get the changed source code, maybe its possible to write the changed source code to another file, or use some kind of HTTP prog to read the changes on an html page?

Closing HTML Window From Child Frame

Dec 12, 2006

I'm trying to create an HTML page that contains two frames.
The bottom frame should simply be some website, but the top frame needs
to have a close link to kill the window. I tried calling
'document.window.close()' from the child frame, but without success. I
then tried putting the 'close()' call in the parent page and calling it
from the child, but still without success. Code:

Changing Image In Frame From Base HTML File

Nov 2, 2010

Got an assignment for a javascript class and I have been banging my head against the wall for a week now.[code]In the main page I have tried several different ways to access the "src" property of the image, none of which I am 100% sure is correct. I think the problem is in the main page, in that I am not accessing the image right, but I could be wrong. I have spent hours on google and digging through the book, but I am still coming up empty handed.

JQuery :: Can't See Source (with View Source) When Loads External Html Into A Div?

Feb 23, 2011

I got some code that loads divs from other web pages into a particular div in my main page. In other words, I click on a button, and this tells jquery to load afragment of a particular page into my main page. For instance if I have 5 web pages onrock stars, I could have 5 buttons, and each button could load one rockstar's biography into a div on the main page (and replace whatever was there before). This works, and I do see the content that it loaded. But when I do 'view source' in IE, I do not see that content (the bio of the rock star). Another clue that this content is not really there, is when I try and run some code on that content. The content (from those external pages) have divs with specific names, and I try and make them into collapsible panels by running the following short function:

var IdentifyPanels = function() {
$("DIV.ContainerPanel > DIV.collapsePanelHeader > DIV.ArrowExpand").toggle(
function() {

JQuery :: Use A Parent-frame - Objected To Make Child-frame AJAX?

Aug 26, 2011

I have a domain: example.com; which is the parent.And a subdomain: api.example.com; which page 'receiver.html' is being loaded in an iframe, child of parent. Both pages set document.domain = example.com.

I'm trying to adapt this code:[url] but Idon't want to load jQuery from the <iframe> again but I need to have the method $.ajax() working from the <iframe> otherwise it would be a cross-domain request and the browser would abort it. I tried ingenuously to set via $('iframe')[0].contentWindow.$.ajax = $.ajax() and I just got a shortcut to the parent page jQuery method. I also tried to "clone" it using $.expand (true...) but the method doesn't work for me; probably because of the complexity of the objected I'm trying to clone. So is there a way for me to use jQuery to have only a $.ajax() method in the <iframe> ? I've thought even about creating a XHR in the child-iframe and then use that in the $.ajaxSetup ({xhr: THATNEWXHR}) but I couldn't do it. I mean, I want to use the XHR factory from jQuery (which has fallbacks for IE, etc) but it has to be created from the iframe-child.

Maybe there is other way to make the AJAX call come from the child-iframe.

If you're wondering "why don't you load jQuery from <script> in the child-iframe", there is a reason... As I'm using jQuery plugins + my own custom javascripts + other independent scripts I created a compiler which minifies each file and bundle them in one. The advantage of this is the reduction of HTTP requests. So "why don't you load that bundle inside the child-iframe?", because it's ugly and Twitter doesn't... Yeah, I like to take Twitter as a reference and I think if they were able to make it so can I;

I got to work in most browsers except IE and Operaby doing it with pure javascript.

I'm "attaching" the code for you guys to test. If you open it with Chrome, Safari or Firefox you will receive 2 alerts one with the return of $.get() and another with the return of a request made via XMLHttpsRequest object. Otherwise (if you open it with IE or Opera) you'll get 'undefined' in the first alert but the real return in the second.

This is the example.com/index.htm:

Forcing IE To Refresh?

Jul 23, 2005

I'm writing a script that proactively validates data input.

Under IE, throwing up an alert seems to interfere with the behavior of
radio buttons. In other words, if changing the value of the radio button
field fires the validation, the radio button either isn't set or isn't
displayed correctly after the popup is dismissed.

If I stick the error messages in a non-editable textarea field, the
textarea field doesn't get refreshed.

I tried "focus" - didn't help.

Mozilla works perfectly of course.

Forcing OnChange()

Sep 23, 2003

does anyone know of a way of forcing the onChange() event of a control (it happens to be a <SELECT> if that is relevant) to fire off? (That is apart from the obvious one of changing the value with the mouse / keyboard!!!!)

I have some code which alters the currently selected element in a list and I need the list's onChange to then be fired off. The code is designed to work with many different lists, so I can't hard-code the same functionality into my code that is normally provided by the onChange.

I've tried ....element.onChange() and .....element.Change() but neither of these seem to work.

Forcing Frames

Oct 25, 2002

I know, frames are yucky but for now this site uses them. Problem is this, the search engines are great at putting this site in the first 2 pages but it is the page that goes in the main frame and without the frames there is no navigation. To make a long story short I used the JavaScript that I found at http://www.webreference.com/js/tips/000405.html that shows me how to force the frames to appear.

My problem is this:

When I try to implement this code on files that are in subdirectories, and there is a ton of them, it doesn't work. What it ends up doing is showing the URL like this:

Forcing A Homepage

Jan 26, 2003

I'm the Webmaster/Designer for a Private Sector Company Intranet.

Now without exaggeration we must have the most IT-apathetic staff in the world even though they all work on PCs every day!

Anyways I've been trying to get them to bookmark the Company Intranet Site as their homepage for months to no avail.

I've sent them regular emails on the importance of doing it, run articles in the Company magazine, even put a JavaScript (make this your homepage) button on the site and nothing works. I would guess that even now only maybe 20% have it as their homepage.

Bits and pieces get posted to the Intranet Site all the time and once a month I post a Team Brief which contains a lot of very pertinent and important information for the staff.

I'd like a JavaScript that I can inconspicuously force a homepage. In other words I'll link to the Intranet Site from my email and by simply clicking on this link the user will have unwittingly booked the Intranet as their homepage.

Obviously smething that will not flag up a User "Do you accept?" permission.

Breaking Out Of Parent Frame If Child Frame Changes URL

Jul 19, 2006

I have a parent document that has a frameset with two frames in it. The first frame is a "header" that runs across the top of the site, and never changes. The second frame contains the "content" of the site. Essentially, I am trying to figure out how to prevent the header appearing above external sites when the user clicks an external link in the "content" frame.

Every time the content frame changes to a new URL, I would like the check that URL and determine if the content frame is changing to an external URL (i.e. different domain in URL) or to an internal link (same domain in URL). If the content is changing to an external link, I want to break out of the frame and just load that external link in the top most document.

I would like all of my javascript to be in the parent document, not spread throughout the individual pages of the site. I was trying to approach this by setting the onunload event handler of the content frame, but I am left with a couple of specific questions:
1. In handling an unload event, can you determine the next URL that the document is loading? Code:

So my question is: Is there a way (method) to force new size of the parent before i call my script for the nex element? How can I solve this?
