Dec 3, 2011I have a video gallery with a bigger div with width 500 pixels where the main video is waiting to be played and below is a smaller div with all the others videos from the gallery having width of 80 pixels.The list of video are managed by a content management system in PHP and are the result of youtube "Share Embed action" where the result is an iframe with the link for the video.How can i clicking on a video from the smaller div see the video being displayed in the bigger div ? already playing? or in a new layer above the website ?For now the video plays in the div it is located at.As an example here is the source video format :

It's developped in php (and html, javascript, mysql) and runs by an Apache webserver (phpdev 4.2.3). The my system is not absolutely connected to the web.
It is a client-server system: in the server is installed Apache, while the clients are PCs where only a web browser (IE) is running, connected to the server via Wi-Fi.
I have the following problem:
I want to show in the clients some videos (huge files); therefore I would kike to avoid to download them everytime from the server (in order to not overload the Wi-fi network).
The client should call a php page from the server, but the video file should be downloaded from the own (client) HD.
The question is:
Is it possible to open a file (in my case a video file) on the Local HD of the client PC by a javascript?
Please consider that, if it could be a restriction problem on the client PC, I can change the configuration because it is not an internet application.

Detect Current URL Of PDF File In Different Frame Not Working In IE?
Jun 3, 2010The system uses individual PDF files for each page, and you can navigate using the controls on the side. It's not ideal, as it was made to replace a horrible system and has the limitations of the content being presented.
That being said, I think it's pretty good. The trouble area is related to navigation: when you navigate the documents, some JavaScript detects the current URL of the content frame and updates the nav controls (previous and next page numbers) and table of contents links (bold, highlight) if they have changed. That part works fine. The problem area is with IE and PDF links. If you click a page link within the PDF, it opens that PDF file in the same frame. In FF and every other browser, the JS URL detection works fine.
In IE, of course, it doesn't detect that a different PDF is being displayed. If it can't detect the new PDF file, and by extension, the file number, the nav controls don't work right. Now - before anyone asks - it DOES work in IE if you navigate to the PDF document by using the links in the navigation system that I built. It's just when you arrive at a PDF from another PDF that it fails.

To see this in action, visit page 4, the table of contents. Click a page number link, for instance, page 9. Once it loads, click "next page" at the top left of the interface. In FF, it goes to page 10. In IE, it goes to page 5, since the JavaScript is unaware that the frame has changed PDF files. It doesn't make sense, since FF can see it plainly.
My code is all out in the open. This thing has to be designed to run off of a CD as well as on the website. If I could use server-side scripting, it would be VERY different, I assure you.

An endless playlist created by youtube based on the initial video. Youtube uses Javascript API. I have never used Javascript before but i'm just trying to get the video to play as above. There are few tutorials online and I couldn't find anyone trying to do a similar thing.

Sep 21, 2011We are having an issue with the video playing on our client's site. The video plays fully locally but not fully once set live on the any of the browsers, it plays just the first 15secs, then it stops.
Can anyone share some ideas as to how we can resolve this. The player is in Flash, and uses an eternal XML file for the video. We have checked and all connection are correct.

I tried: var buffered = document.getElementById('vid').buffered.This one returns "[object TimeRanges]".From what I understood this is some kind of an object (Like an array?).I tried returning "buffered.length" and I get "1" back.

Feb 14, 2009Can Javascript be used to detect a certain url and then "not" write some html according to that url and also detect something on the page and "then" display some html?.
Example: I'm working on a volusion site that uses asp. There's basically only one page that's changed dynamically. I would like to display some html when and only if the cart has any items in it. But also not to show up on the check-out pages.
The page dynamically displays "Your cart has 1 item in it..." when the visitors puts something in their cart.
So could javascript detect when this is displayed then write some html and then also detect if the url is showing the cart and then not show the html?
Video Button Rollover - Have The Video (button) Play

Mar 1, 2005I have a site that I am working on for my company. When the site first opens, a small video with our company mission and views opens and plays. Below that video is a graphic that, once clicked, opens the same video (a higher res file) in a larger window. The problem arrises in that both videos are now playing and so you hear the audio twice. DHTML Menus And Video
Aug 31, 2005I'm having a hard time with the use of my DHTML menu and video on my
site. The video is served using Windows Media Player. Short of hiding
it, I can't seem to get my DHTML menu to appear above the video.
Unfortunately, I have noticed that hiding the video caused the browser
to flash several times. Does anyone know of anything I can implement
that would minimize the client side impact and also allow my menu to
appear on top of the video?
