Why this code is not working on Webkit browsers:
Only jquery and the plugin printed above are loaded, so there shouldn't be any conflicts.
HTML:
Chrome gives the following error: Uncaught TypeError: Object #<an Object> has no method 'followUser
I am wondering if someone know of a free cross-browsers vertical scrolling script that:
- is cross cross-browsers
- will call the scrolling content from an external html page or from a url page
- will also has an option to pause when each heading on the content page
reach the top or bottom of defined scrolling window, depending on the
predefined direction the scroll is scrolling.
I'm considering in teaching myself some javascript, but before I take the time to read up and experiment, I had a few questions.
Is javascript XHTML 1.0 STRICT Valid?
Is javascript valid for any version of XHTML?
Is javascript easily cross browser compatiable, or will this take a long time to work around?
I wanted to know if we have some validator tool available which can validate our jsp code for W3C standards and for cross browser compatibility for browsers like IE, Mozilla, Chrome.

I am trying to set up some code to control a mouseover popup image. I have the script that works except in certain browsers the results are different. This is the page: (just mouse over the first players name). Here is the script:

Q: I have a pretty big html page - about 1,500 lines of code, 1,000 of which is javascript. (It's also referencing other javascript code, perhaps another 2,000 lines or so).
When I boot up the page in a fresh browser, it invariably crashes; the page just hangs. But, after killing the browser, and opening it up in a new one, the page seems to run fine. Is there some sort of javascript code limit that a web page / browser can handle...? Anyone know if there's a way to get around this? [Did I misread the problem? I'm pretty sure my code is fine.] Code:
I have five div tags(jquery tabs) in my aspx page...Inside the second div(tab) i have a button. onclick of that buttton the second div(tab) should be switched..instead of that the first tab is coming.. How can i switch the tab in code behind(Inside button onclick event)...

View 1 Replies View RelatedEver since I first used NS6, it has been buggy as hell when dealing with JavaScript image swaps/mouseovers. - The Images seem to dissapear for a second and then re-appear - something to do with NS6 having another DOM I think.
Even the V4.01 'patch' for DW4 from Macromedia doesn't seem to work for me.
Does anyone know of any rock-solid JavaScript MouseOver code, that'll work at least on IE5+ and NS6+ ??
I am building a web page that has tab panels that hide and show information depending on which one is selected. I am trying to make the tabs at the top of the page and go horizontal.I have had some success, however I am having two problems. The first problem is that one of the tabs doesn't work. (specifically tab 4 "videos").The other is that when you first start up the page, there are three tabs highlighted (1, 4 and 5), however there should only be 1 tab highlighted (tab1).I have included my code below.
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

I'm making a script that requires cross-domain scripting to get the statuscode of other files. I'm currently using a small PHP script to relay the files from the remote server onto mine. If I want to get the files directly using AJAX, it is not allowed for obvious reasons. I don't want the actual files, I only want to get the status code of that file, and it is going to be either a 404 or a 301. I would've assumed that as the AJAX call is never attempted, the statusCode will be 0, and this is what the actual call variable returns.
However, in Firebug it shows the statuscode next to the request (404 or 301), even if, the call has never been made. Why is the statuscode appearing in Firebug but not in the statuscode variable?
If i use the jQuery library hosted by google am i going to run in to issues using ajax on my site when making requests for data from my server.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI need to get the selection position by js and make sure that this code work for all the browsers.
For example, the user selected this text (red text is selected):
Hello world
The function should return to me array or two values wich they are: 3,9 (start and end position of the selection)
This should be an easy answers since I am a newbee and never redirected older browsers. For example I am learning JSON now and the below browsers are the only browser that can use the faster and safer JSON.parse parser. older browsers need to use javascripts eval() to parse json files to javascript objects.

I recently made a simple tool that opens a website in an iFrame and tells the user how long the page took to load. I made it out of a premade stopwatch
When i run the test in most browsers (Chrome, Firefox 3.6 and older, IE) it works fine with the output textbox going from "Please run the test" to "Test Running" to [TIME TAKEN FOR PAGE TO LOAD] but in firefox 3.7 (Minefield) it goes from "Please run the test" to "0" every time and the page in the iFrame doesn't load.
I've read that Firefox 3.7 has a new Javascript Engine
The test is at [URL] and the problem code is on THIS PAGE (Use View Source in your browser)
When the tabs are initialized by this code:$( "#tabs" ).tabs(); , it displays the tabs in a way that I don't like. I want to trace into the actual 'tabs' function when this is called so I can see why it is doing what it is doing. I have not been able to find where this code is sitting.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to resize an iframe dynamically to the height of its content that works cross browser and works when the iframe content is on another domain than the main page (I have access to both pages, so code can be put in either) Also, it must resize when links in the iframe are clicked (ie when a new page within the iframe is loaded)
View 1 Replies View RelatedAnother thing that has been driving me crazy is that css positioning is handled differently by different browsers. JS is not my area, but I can do a lot with CSS, and I do, but cross browser compatibility is killing me.
I can use an IF IE statement and only IE runs that segment of code, but I haven't been able to figure out out how to make ONLY firefox or ONLY opera or safari enact an encapsulated segment of code. The same type of IF statement doesn't work for them.
Is there a single method using JS that works for all browsers?
I'm having issues with jquery and the tabs I'm using. My tabs work but... I want some more functions and that seems to be a big problem for a Javascript and jquery newby.
My HTML:
Code:
<ul class="tabs">
<li>Tab1</li>
<li>Tab2</li>
[Code]....
I really don't know if this is correct but it works! What doesn't work is the active class. If you use one of the buttons in the first tab you go to the right tab but the tab itself has no class called active and that ruins the style.
2)
I also have one other question: lets say that all the above is my second page and I have my frontpage in which I also have buttons. I want somebody to use the button and end up in the third tab of page 2. My link is something like
Code:
page2.html#tab3
I read that using this should lead you the third tab but it's not working for me. You go to the first tab of page 2 instead.
I've been reading a LOT! Jquery for dummies, I googled, read the forum and other forums. I posted on a Dutch forum but no answer. I've added a lot of different code but it doesn't work.
I have nested tabs in jquery tabs which are pretty simple to do if we want static jquery tabsbut what if we want nested tabs that the remote page should decide what would be the tabs.or in other words i want nested tabs in a remote page (or ajaxified) For example i m calling this page(remote page) through tabs
<div id="container-2">
<ul>
<li><a href="#fragment-1a"><span>Section 1a</span></a></li>

I am using jQuery tabs and when I have very long content within the tabs, my browsers scroll bar reflects the content in the tab with the most content.
Example, "Tab 1" & "Tab 3" has a very long scroll bar, even though it has no content (because of Tab 2) and you can scroll down through the empty space
[URL]
Is there a way I can hide the content in Tab 2 so that my browsers scroll bar displays correctly in relation to the content in the active tab?
I'm having trouble figuring out why content isn't showing up on the 2nd and 3rd tabs of a tabbed content section embedded on a page. The content shows fine for the first tab but not at all for 2 and 3.
Page of tabbed content is [URL].. It's an OsCommerce site using STS Templates for the pages. Here's the code:
