Add/remove Class IE?

I needed a script that changes the class of a link that was clicked on to, say, "active", and also remove that class name from any other links. And I found one, here it is:

var lnks = document.getElementsByTagName('a');

if (lnks[i].getAttribute('class') == "active")

Now, I don't really know JS, but from the little I know it should work, and it does - except, not in IE. In IE it changes the class of the clicked link, but doesn't remove from others, so every link remains 'active'.

I have this filter in a results table that also reflect in a ui datepicker day styling (ex:available unavailable) . Everything fine till i change month or year in datepicker . Maybe i have to use live() or livequery() but can see the way .This is the code:

wondering if it's possible to write a script that would do the following:find the last instance of a div of a particular class. It would then remove from that div, a different class that the div has also been given.to see what i mean here is a screen-snap of the site. the actual site is not available for [URL]the last cell (div) needs to have the class of '.grid' removed so that it canthen extend the length of it's containing div. thus the gray border would extend and the last cell would look much better

I am a beginner and would like to know how i can change the class of selected element when clicked, but remove the same class from other element.
For the example
<ul class="items"> This class has some css which includes list-style:none, borders and backgrounds
<li ><aonclick="javascript:changecolor();"> Something 1 </li></a>
<li><aonclick="javascript:changecolor();"> Something 2 </li></a>

The jquery function is an external file and I also have .color which changes the background of a <li> item...
So what i am trying to achieve is that when "something 1" is clicked i want to get the class .color to this list item "1" for example, but when "something 2" is clicked i want the class .color to move on this li item "2", but list item 1 should not have the class .color at the same time..

I have a few input button classes all with the same class. When a user clicks on the input button, then I disable the input button so the user does not click on it again. I want to make it so when the user goes back, all of the buttons of the same class are active again(including the one that the user just clicked on).

I have a side menu that I have added an onclick statement to, which will change the css class for that item to "selected" so that I can apply styles for the selected link. Here is what I have:

How can I modify this so, after one selection is clicked, and you click something else, the class gets removed from the first clicked item, and is now applied to the newly clicked item? I only want the class applied to the currently clicked item, and removed when they click on another item.

In a nutshell, I need to set add/remove a class called 'active' to/from a link that is clicked within a DIV. So if the link has the class 'active' already assigned I need to remove it and vice versa however the issue I am having is that I have to double click the link in order for it to work!!

I'm currently reading jQuery - Novice to Ninja (fantastic book), and trying to understand how I can add several words to the code snippet below. I currently remove, let's say Sweden as below, but what if I also want to remove Norway?And another question, what if I would like to keep only Sweden and remove the rest from a list of twenty countries? I have a huge blob of code but the main part I am focusing on is this
$('.billboard_click').click(function () {
//this remove class
$(".billboard_click").removeClass("billboard_click");
});
1. Execute a click event when the div with the class 'billboard_click' is clicked
2. Once clicked, remove the class from that very div to avoid another click from happening
3. Execute a series of events such as animations, etc
4. add the class back to the clicker div
The code does not seem to work as expected but I am wondering if I am having issues elsewhere at this point and wonder if this actually is known to work

I'm using jquery to make it easy for AJAX calls.
So I create a class: function cMap(mapID){//vars and stuff}
I go and prototype a function: cMap.prototype.loadMap = function(){ //jquery AJAX call }
Now in the jquery $.ajax({...}); call, I use an anonymous function on the "success:" call: success: function(data){ this.member = data; }
My problem is that inside this anonymous function call I'm trying to call a class member of my cMap class to store the data in from the AJAX call, but it's out of scope. So the JS console in FF/Chrome throws errors about bad value/doesn't exist.
How can I access this class member from inside an anonymous function? Or at least what's a good way to go about doing all this?

CONDITIONS:If a person selects a Friday Class but not a Saturday Class the Total Cost Field will automatically enter $99.If a person selects a Saturday Class but not a Friday Class the Total Cost Field will automatically enter $99 as well.If a person selects both a Friday & Saturday Class the Total Cost field will automatically be $159.I found the following code and so far only have it changing when a Friday class is entered. I'm trying to figure out which selector is faster (assuming that the class 'foo' only appears on input tags)...
$('.foo');
or
$('input.foo');
From what I've seen online, it seems that people recommend $('input.foo'), but in some limited testing it appears that $('.foo') is much faster in both FF and Chrome. In IE, both methods seem to produce similar results. Here is a fiddle with a simple example...

Have browsers started implementing native ways to find all elements with a given class name? Would that explain why $('.foo') seems to be faster?

I'm currently working with Javascript to build some "dynamic" tabs. Basicly, the tab "onmouseover" and "onmouseout" event have been overriden to change the tab's css class.
Here's the class:
function HtmlTab(id)

My problem is, I cannot access my HtmlTab class attributes from the this.tab.onmouseover function.
Anyone knows a way to fix this?

I am attempting to make a menu that has a background image that changeswhen you rollover or click a menuitem. I've got the hover effect working fine with CSS, but am trying to implement the click event via jquery with the following:
CSS:
div.SustainResourcesMenuTabs

My process is to reset the entire menu to the inactive state, then switch on the active state for the item that was clicked. Eventually, the item that was clicked will display its corresponding body section as well. I've tried using the CSS pseudo-class "active", but since the entire div is the link, that is unavailable. I've also tried multiple variations of addClass/removeClass, toggleClass, and setAttribute/removeAttributebut nothing hasworked so far.
