Writing Cookie Fail In Two Server !

Jul 23, 2005

I have a problem with writing cookie from Jacascript. My problem is that I have two server, one is A, and the other is B.

(1) I call a aaa.html from A.
In aaa.html :
...
<iframe id="frame1" src='http://B/bbb.html'></iframe>
...
(2) In bbb.html :
document.cookie="key=123";
alert(document.cookie);

I fail to write key=123 to cookie.
Is this because of different ip?
Is there any other way to write cookie?

Pass Cookie Value Back To Server?

Mar 30, 2006

I have a web page that displays records from a database. I want to
allow the user to specify his own "page size" - that is, the number of
records to be displayed on a given page. I have a place set up for him
to enter a value and save it to a cookie. My problem is, I can't
figure out a good, simple way to pass that value back to the server.

The page is accessed in various ways: it's first viewed by selecting
it from a javascript menu. Then the page itself contains a form with a
series of buttons that allow the user to jump to a specific page above
or below the current page. There are also "sort links" at the top of
the columns of data which refresh the data sorted in a different way.
In all of these cases, I will need to pass the page size back to the
server.

I tried storing the page size in a hidden input field. This works but
it's not available on the first request (from the menu). I thought
about passing in the value as a query string (mypage.htm?PS=123) but I
can't figure out how to attach the value to all of the various
requests (menu, form and links).

Cookie Editing - Using - Only Displays Certain Text If The Cookie Is A Certain Number

Apr 30, 2009

I am making a sort of text based game (Just a hobby) I like to do that sort of thing. So, anyway, considering all I can really do is code HTML, and very, very light javascript, I kinda need some help.

I basicly know how to do everything except affect & Use the cookies. So what I need to do with them is to

#1.) Have a code to change the cookie number, say... on the click of a button.

#2.) Have a code where it only displays certain text if the cookie is a certain number.

I cant code JS and have no idea how hard/easy this is.

If it is insanely hard & needs a master coder, just tell me and ill take it off. I dont want to be wasting anyones time.

IE6 Always Rejects A Particular Cookie Regardless Of Privacy/cookie Setting

Jul 23, 2005

I have an embedded system with a web interface. One of the web pages
has a small JavaScript program that, when run on IE6, always displays
the message that cookies need to be enabled:

if (document.cookie.indexOf('asm_session') == -1)
{
document.cookie = 'asm_session=0'
if (document.cookie.indexOf('asm_session') == -1)
{
document.write("Advanced System Management access requires
cookies to be enabled."+'<br><br>');
}
}

This problem only occurs with IE6, not Mozilla. It also only happens
on some of the embedded systems, but this problem exists for everyone
running IE6.

The problem isn't limited to the Javascript code, either. On another
web page from this embedded system, a cookie is set the normal way,
via the HTTP header. This cookie is also rejected.

When I display any page that attempts to set a cookie, IE6 displays
the blocked icon and says that cookies on that URL are blocked.
However, I have set all privacy and cookie options to their most
permissive. I've spent the past hour changing every option I can find
that's even remotely related to cookies and privacy, and nothing
changes. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

Retrieving Cookie Data Through Document.cookie

Jul 20, 2005

In my web application we are able to store large data in the browser
cookie keeping in mind the limit of 300 cookies per cookie file, 20
keys per cookie per domain and 4KB max size of each cookie. We are
unable to retreive this large amount of data immediately after storing
through document.cookie in IE browser (The same works fine in
Netscape).

Is there any limit on the size of the data that can be retreived using
document.cookie in IE browser? Could you please suggest a solution to
this problem I am facing.

XMLHttpRequest: Script Works To Request XML File On Server But Not On External Server

Oct 2, 2010

I have the following JavaScript (see below). The script requests an XML file from the server and displays it on the page.

The script works fine when the requested XML file is stored on the same server as the script.

The problem is when I try requesting an XML file from an external server such as the National Weather Service. I get an error. If I take the XML file from the National Weather Service and save it to my server it works. Why can't I use my script to request XML files stored on external servers?

Javascript Code

var xhr = false;
function initAll() {
document.getElementById("makeTextRequest").onclick = getNewFile;

AJAX :: Cross-domain Calls - Loaded From One Server Into A Website On Another Server

Mar 11, 2010

I'm trying to write a script that will be loaded from one server into a website on another server. This script is trying to talk (ajax) to the server that it comes from but I'm getting "Access Denied" errors. I'm well aware that cross-domain calls are not allowed for security reasons so my question is how does Google Analytics work because essentially thats what I'm trying to accomplish. I can embed a Google Analytics script into my website and it'll gather data and send it back to Google.

Resolve Relative Server Links When HTML Source Is Not On Server

Feb 10, 2010

I would like to open an html file locally (not fetch it from a server) and somehow use javascript to fetch the relative resources from the server. One solution would be to convert all of the relative links to absolute links. I can convert the html source file anyway I wish, but ideally I would like to modify the html source as little as possible, for example insert a function that modifies the result of the src attribute. How would I go about this? Is there any trick I can use to define where the relative home is? Am I going to get into any scripting security gotchas?

Greasemonkey Seems To Fail With Too Many Gm_xmhttprequests?

Mar 22, 2006

I'm trying to write a script (my first) that loops through some table
rows and gets some data from another page using gm_xmlhttprequests. It
works if I keep the loop to one, but if I try and loop through all the
rows, and therefore have say 10-20 gm_xmlhttprequests, the script just
seems to fail. But if I put an alert inside each gm_xmlhttprequest, and
wait a bit before dismissing the alert, the gm_xmlhttprequest will
succeed and the data gets updated as planned. It seems as if the
gm_xmlhttprequests don't block, or the script keeps executing without
waiting for the requests to finish. I don't have any listeners on the
script, I just want it all to load when the page loads. Also, I looked
at the javascript console and it doesn't have any errors about the
gm_xmlhttprequests.

Jquery :: Causing CSS To Fail Over SSL

Everything is working great until the pages are viewed over and SSL connection. When viewing over SSL, some of the margins/padding stops working and the hover effects on tables stop working correctly (leaving cells coloured, not colouring others). After spending a day looking for the solution in Google, I haven't found anything that will fix the issue. No errors/warnings are displayed on the page.

Cookies Fail When Using URL Frame Re-direct

Apr 22, 2006

I have a simple html document I have been using for some time on my
(i.e.) abc.com domain that uses cookies. I recently purchased a new
domain name and set up a service to redirect my new domain (i.e.)
xyz.com to a sub-directory of the abc.com domain. In other words, when
someone goes to URL xyz.com, they really end up in abc.com/xyz
directory but the MSIE browser says they are xyz.com.

The problem is that cookies quit working in this setup when I copied
the same HTML document in the /xyz subdirectory that xyz.com now
accesses. I can't set or get a cookie any longer by calling the
document.cookie function from JS any longer. The call does not fail
but the data is always blank. I even tried setting the cookie and from
the next line of code reading it back immediately and it still would
not save the cookie.

Anyone know how to fix this?

I checked the value of location.host, .hostname .pathname,
document.domain and they all indicate I am really at abc.com even
though the address in my IE browser says I am at xyz.com.
