I've been using this script (and variants that give the user different controls) for years and am positive it worked before but I just noticed that resizable is being ignored in FF 3.0.11. It is working in IE fine. I don't want the user to be able to resize the window.
Code:
function PopNada(PopNadaUrl,xW,xH)
{
var ScreenWidth=window.screen.width;
var ScreenHeight=window.screen.height;
2.) This link should then open in an new window, annnnnd that window's size should be resizable. I've been using this technique for other standard links via jquery....
jQuery('a.popup').live('click', function(){ newwindow=window.open($(this).attr('href'),'','height=350,width=600'); if (window.focus) {newwindow.focus()}
However, when attempting to combine these two, I always get an undesired affect. I would provide the entire code, but I haven't been able to get it to work.
I am currently strungling with the fact that I want to control the browser closure. In fact, I have a webbased application in which I use a wizard. Ones the wizard starts, a lock is set on specific objects in the db. On all pages of the wizard, the user get the possibility to exit the wizard by clicking on a custom "Exit" button. That way, I know that the user has left the wizard and that way I can unlock the locked objects in the db again.
So far, so good. But users are used to close browser windows by clicking on the "X" in the titlebar. If they close a window that way, the locks aren't unset and no other user may start the wizard again. If I should know that he had clicked on the "X", I could unlock the objects.
I have searched a lot on the net but all results aren't sufficient for me.
Some solutions which don't work:
1) onunload event: =Also called when the window is refreshed or forwarded.
2) "titlebar = no" property while opening the first page of the wizard, is not working (the titlebar is still enabled). And even then, the users can close the window by clicking CRL-F4. This key combination isn't disabled by the "hotkeys = no" property.
Note: if the client's pc crashes or if the user kills the wizard process via the task manager (exceptional cases), they have to call maintenance to reset the locks. This is a requirement, defined by bussiness.
This control function Button1_onclick() for checkboxes in the my form not working, why? Code: <HTML><HEAD> <META NAME="GENERATOR" Content="Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0"> <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> // <!CDATA[ function Button1_onclick() { if (!controllo_check()){ alert("Stop"); return; }document.forms[0].submit(); }function controllo_check(){ var cks = document.forms[0].chkParent; var checked = false; for(var i = 0; i < cks.length; i++){ if(cks[i].checked){ checked = true; break; }} return checked; } .....
I have a form that I link to from several locations. Right now I use JS in the link to the page to open it a specific size. I would rather simplify the links and just put the dimensions in one place...the file that opens. Is there a best way to force a page to be opened in a specific size without putting JS in the link? I would just use target="_blank" to get it in a new window.
I have been working on this code in the last few hours with my boss and we are completely stumped. We are currently writing our companies new site, and we have come across a problem. We built a mini samples user control that shows on a few of our pages, that works with no problem. In that user control, we implemented a Rad Window Control by Telerik.
We have the auto populate thumbnail images and full size images from a database during the ItemDataBound event on our Repeater, this too works fine with no problem. When we first implemented the window, we added anchors to the thumbnails in the code behind so when a user clicks on a thumbnail from the parent page the thumbnail shows up in the window scroll bar at the bottom when the window opens. This worked fine except when you click on a thumbnail with the window closed the parent page would scroll half way down and then the window would open. The scroll function worked fine and had no problems with it, but we wanted to fix the parent page issue.
We decided to do accomplish the same task but with javascript. Since it only meant a few changes we thought it would be no problem, but we are stumped like never before. The javascript code we are using works fine, but when we try to implement it in the window, it doesn't do squat. We suspected that the javascript was being called before the page was loaded but even when using onload in the body tag it still doesn't do anything. We then added a literal and populated the text in the PreRender event but still no avail.
I made a test page that had the exact same javascript functions as the samples page but with hard coded content rather than data binded. This page works exactly as it should, but the samples page doesn't. I have already looked into the Telerik support forums but can't find anything near related to our issue so I thought I would stop by here as a last resort. I hope that we are just missing something and is an easy fix, rather than having to rewrite everything but if it's needed then it has to be done.
So here are my questions for you :Can you look at our code and see if we are missing something. Maybe a fresh pair of eyes will do the trick.Would going back to the anchor system be better and just try to fix the parent page scrolling issue?
I have posted our samples page and the test page that I made.
I am opening a pop up in a new window (window.open) . I have no control on the code of the pop up. Its a third party pop up (twitter). Now that generates a callback url and I can specify that.My problem is the callback page is loaded on the pop up window. I want that window to close and have the call back page loaded on the parent window.
I have a web application where we pop up a little calendar control in a new window to allow users to choose dates. For cross-browser purposes, this is done via window.open (with some code to make it behave like a modal dialog) and I set the width and height of the window such that the controls fit nicely and it all looks good.
I have some users who are unable to see the OK and Cancel buttons at the bottom of the window due to some display settings on their machines. OK, I though, I'll just make the window resizable and they can then take control. How naive of me! Why on earth does IE decide that the minute I put 'resizable=yes' into my attributes for the new window that it should ignore the size?
I know I can do window.resizeTo in the onload of the calendar window, but I'm not keen on the resizing of the window.
I don't suppose anyone knows of a way to have IE open a resizable window of a given size without the resizeTo?
In my application I am using resizable property for the <div> In my script i used like this $("div").resizable(); Its working fine for all the <div> tags. My requirement is to get the <div> id and I have to save the height, width of that particular <div>. I can able get the height and width of the every div but not the id. I tried in 2 ways like var divId=$(this).attr("id"); and var divId=this.id; in _mouseDrag() in the jquery.ui.resizable.js file. In both the cases divId is undefined.
I have a function that opens a popup and I have told it not make the popup resizable but all browsers seem to ignore it and make it resizable anyway. This is the code
function openflvpopup(popurl){ window.open('FLV/play.php?file=' + popurl + '.flv', '', 'height=500px,width=550px,left=150px,top=150px,resizable=0') }
I have probably made a silly mistake but I have checked several tutorial website to make sure I write it in the syntax that they do. I can not see any mistakes.
<script language="JavaScript"><!-- /*RESIZABLE DOM GRID - (C) COPYRIGHTED DON WATSON 2003 ALL RIGHT RESERVED - DONWATS@USA.COM*/ function mouseevent(elm, _event, _function) { elm.attachEvent(_event, _function) }
function mousedetach(elm, _event, _function) { elm.detachEvent(_event, _function) }
function resizeGrid() { var srcElem = event.srcElement;
/*lets get the rule (css)*/ ruleNum = expandingTD.firstChild.className; /*assume its the span*/ ruleNum = ruleNum.substr(ruleNum.length-1,1);/*strip the num off the end*/
var _head = document.getElementsByTagName('head').item(0);
var dss = document.createElement("STYLE"); dss.id = "rowspans"; _head.appendChild(dss);
var _table = document.getElementById("grid"); var _tr = _table.getElementsByTagName("TR")[0]; var _td = _tr.getElementsByTagName("TD"); var colnum = 0;
I cannot seem to set a size for a text area relative to total screen width in CSS or HTML or Javascript? When I use CSS or a percent value in the cols attribute, they size the textarea as a percentage of another text area on the screen.
Is it possible that first I make my window resizable,than if window is less than a fixed size I can make my window not resizable?Better to say can I change resizable feature during runtime?If possible,than how?
I think this has probably been asked before but. I want to resize an element that has .resizable() on it. I want the resizable 'stop' event to trigger when it is done.
I'm after doing something like this A resizable background image that fades in on initial load.... I've found plenty of background image re-size scripts but none that fade in the initial image.
Situation:I have a very long page divided into many sections vertical-wise marked by bookmarks, say pageX.html#s1 to s10. I need to show the section inside an iframe (iFrame1) on the mainpage (mainpage.html). I am thinking of having 4 buttons, sitting on the mainpage, to help navigate between these sections on pageX, namely NEXT, PREVIOUS, TOP, END.condition of the frame, fixed width/height, no scroll, no border.Very new to javascript but need this code to make a page work for BIZ.
My resizable works great. I want to be able to set the width and height after init. How do I set the width and height from a javascript function? I am using the onClick event of an IMG to call a javascript function.
I want to set the height and width of my resizable, so I want to set ui.size.width and ui.size.height.
How do I reference ui.size.width and ui.size.height of my resizable within a javascript function?
I'm trying to develop a function to resize a control upon window resize. In regular javascript I would make a global array of control names and append code to the event that cycles through and resizes each control.For example
var proportionalizedImages=new Array(); proportionalizedImages.push(document.getElementById(ctrl)); if (window.addEventListener)[code]....
I'm wondering if there's a more elegant way to do this in jQuery. I've played around with it a bit, but i'm unsure how to get the control object to the resize function triggered by window resize without a global variable.
I've got some problem with more then one plugin from jQuery.
My Problem is: if I use some "resizable background"-script (it works on IE7+/FF/Chrome), and the content is longer then 100% height of the screen (ipad/iphone), there's a white place at the bottom of my background-image.
The solution was, to fix the background, but it still doesn't work on mobile devices.
I am using the jquery-ui resizable plugin, but I encountered some issues :
1) I had to add the ".ui-resizable" css for that plugin to work (hopefully I found a website explaining that workaround)
2) there is no "scroll" option like in draggable (!?)
3) the containment option does not work vertically on the official example [url] you are constrained horizontally, but not vertically. In my application, the containment option is buggy too : it seems to take into account the container outer margins, or something else, I don't know what, but my windows are constrained far too soon (no it's not maxWidth/maxHeight)
4) the alsoResize option is buggy : when the containment option is used, the "alsoResized" element is not constrained as well :-( Am I missing something ? Does someone have info on what's going on with this plugin ? (1.7.1, it's not an alpha version). if there is another resizable plugin available out there ? (like the one used in [url])
I have a basic insert form to add items to a product database. It opens as a pop-up window from a different form so that my sales reps can add items to the database if they are not there without having to back track. I want to have a close window option for when they are done.here is what I have so far:
