What Would Be The Best Color To Match If The Menu Background Is Left As It Is When Hovering On A Menu Item
Jun 16, 2011
Am working on a web template similar to this one: [URL] and would like to change the hover color for the menus (in blue with white text). What would be the best color to match if the menu background is left as it is when hovering on a menu item?

I am using superfish menu on the site below. http:[url]...when I go through the sub menus. parent menu item's "a color" turns into white again but not background color. then nothing is seen. I want it to stay as first hover condition (white bg and black text) when I walking through sub menus. I cannot override it.

I'm building a drop down menu like [URL] or [URL] or [URL] the effect I'm trying to achieve is to have the top menu item showing a background image via css and create a stylized design with the sub-menu. Using CSS when I hover over the sub menu the background image of the top item disappears. So I'd like some guidance with javascript on how to keep the back-image while hovering on the sub menu.

The problem is that the height of the second level menu results in their being gaps in between each menu item so that as you move your mouse down the second menu items it quickly closes again. scripting novice fix this by telling me which variable I need to change either in the Java script or the CSS files.

what I'm trying to do is to have a vertical menu where one of the list items if triggered (click or mouseover are both fine) moves to the right and then slides down a submenu with other 4 lists items. I got this working while I was just trying this effect alone thanks to this script:
<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">

the selected menu with a different color background when a user clicks on a particular main menu item. This works with a ul that does not have child items on it. But ul's with child elements the css does not seem to work and seemed overridden by javascript. What i did was on the program logic that automatically produces the unordered list of menu items, I inserted a class 'sfHover' for li items that is equal to the current page. Again, this works on the menus that does not have child elements. Is there any possible way I can configure a selected menu item showing with a different backround color from the rest of the menus?

I'm using superfish menu jquery plugin, and I'm wondering if someone know how to update plugin that you can decide if sub - sub menus wil be shown on the right (that is in the original) or on the left side of the parent menu.
The problem is, that if the last menu is near the end of the browser, than the sub - sub menu will go off side the browser.

I have a menu that I have constructed through HTML/CSS/JavaScript. Javascript handles the mouseover and mouseout events to set the background of the menu item/table element with an image. It works great. What my issue is right now is that when the user loads the Home page, I want that to have the background of the item already set. I had a function to do this with a switch clause in a separate javascript file. This function was called immediately (left it outside of any functions so it would execute first). But I'm getting an error because the actual element (a table) to set the background doesn't exist yet.

provide me with code to make a collapsible menu? What I'm looking for is a vertical menu, that will open up the sub-categories upon a mouseover. Clicking on the menu item will bring them to the specific page. Oh, and this might not matter, but I'd prefer if I was able to style the menu to fit with my site theme.

I am trying to create a specific menu using jQuery where i want to toggle a clicked menu item. I used toggleClass to accomplish this. All fine and well, but what i want is that once i click a menu item, the previously clicked item should have the active state/class toggled off.. The menu is variable. (I tried and tried and searched all over the internet, but i cannot find it... spent 5 hours trying to combine various selectors and if/else statements, but it did'nt work.)

im trying to make the left Product Categories background position "rollover" menu work on this page: [URL] at the moment the page loads and CSS hover works to set the background position so that the graphic behind makes a roll over effect. i put some javascript to set the background position permantly to the roll over on click (so the user can see which one they are on) but then this knocks out the roll over effect on all other categories - it knocks out the CSS hover: onclick="setStyle('c1','backgroundPosition','0px 0px');
it means that c1:hover no longer works.. i tried putting !important in the CSS c1:hover background position and this fixed it in Firefox but not IE. So how can i write something in Javascript to also say: onclick="setStyle('c1:hover','backgroundPosition','-276px 0px');
i know Javascript does not do hyphens and the way to get for example "background-position" in CSS is to ditch the hyphen and make "P"osition capitol. perhaps something can be done also to get to the CSS hover attribute?

What I've already build can be found on demo. The Idea:I wanted to build a menu that when you hover the menu button the menubuttons slides up, when it is ready all the menubuttons will slide down. The next may slidedown when the first one is ready, etc.When you leave you mouse outside the picture, all the menuitems must slide up (like to have them slideup like it works when they slidedown) and the menubutton must slide down.The idea works, so that's not the problem, maybe the code could be better, but I thinks that's for later.The problem:When a user hovers very fast between menubutton and outside the picture the menubutton is slidedup, down etc. When you do this even faster the menuitems are stuck and shown, and that is not what I want.

This is for an online quiz that collects selected answers through hidden checkboxes, and when a checkbox is selected the javascript changes the background of that selected item. However the problem is when javascript is disabled the whole thing won't work because the checkboxes have a class of .hide which, obviously, hides them and the user can't see that they've actually selected an item as the background color won't change. So I was thinking that instead the javascript could apply the class of hide to the input. That way if it's disabled the checkboxes will show.
<style type="text/css">
.hide { display:none;
*display:block;
*margin:0;
*padding:0;
*width:0px;
}
</style>

I want to do the following using JS: when you click a link, the window resizes to 100% height and aligns to the right + it opens another window that is 100% height x 300px width and aligned to the left.
This makes two windows one next to the other, occupying the whole screen. I want to do this to put links of bookmarks on the left window used as a navigation window. Can some one give me a script that will do just this ?

I found a menu that operates like I want it to (except it needs to open to the left, instead of the right), but no matter how I put the code into my page, it just screws the page up.....terribly. I have been trying to get a similar menu to work (anylinkmenu), but it is not very good, so I want to use this one instead.
I need the menu to open to the left of the "Facebook" icon at the top of my page in the header. I have put all the code on here below (only the code for the actual menu...not for jquery-1.3.2.min.js or jquery.ui-1.7.min.js.
