Display Negative Number As A Positive?
Dec 20, 2005I have a calculated value that is negative, which I need to display in a javacript prompt as positive. In ColdFusion, there is a function called ABS(), which gives you the absolute value of the number in question, so ABS(-5) = 5. Is there something similar in javascript? If no, how would I display a negative number without it's negative sign? Again, this is only for display purposes withing an alert.

I pretty quickly found something that's apparently hard to Google.I've made a page that shows a counter number, starting at 0, with buttons that will increase or decrease the number by 1 or 10.So I'd like to figure out how to show that number in red when it is a negative number and in green when it is a positive number. I've tried a couple of things, including an if... else, but here's my latest crack:

Apr 29, 2009I'm currently doing on a project, frankly speaking i'm new in javascript only know the basics. I'm not even sure whether this thread is suppose to be here or under html.. I'm suppose to create some codes that enable a html page to load to the next html page when the mouse move from left to right within a specific time and distance(positive X coordinate) and also the other way round (right to left) once i figured out this. I've got an example online and edited it. Please take a look at my codes.

test01.html is just blank page created to make sure it loads. However i would like to load from test01 to another html page but no matter how i tried to edit the codes, there's errors. I cant possibly copying and pasting the exact codes to every page i want to load to right? And is it possible to sortof increase mouse sentivity such that i can most probably load to the next page in first few tries of moving the mouse on the first page. Is it common that when i launch the html on IE and Firefox somehow after showing the first page for maybe 1 second, it immediately jumped to 2nd page and i have to go back to 1st page to try out.

Mar 4, 2009I website I've seen recently uses a clever technique, which I'm still working to figure out. When you go to view an image, a pop-up window opens -- the image is downloaded (non-cached) and then some javascript (presumably) loads a replacement image in its place (it's not displayed) -- when you go to save it, you get the dummy image.
Further, they make some javascript call (presumably, or jquery) to replace the document content of that page, so when you do a View Source, you get something totally different.
How this is actually working, and whether something like that could be cross-browser supported.
Protecting Template From Piracy
Apr 9, 2009I have designed a template for a script in html and planning to sell it, but i am too concerned with piracy because i need money urgently for my further studies and piracy will ruin it,
So is there anyway you can suggest from protecting it?
The 1 way i have in mind is the first time the template loads it send the domain name using the template to my site and automatically placing a php file in another directory so that if i find the user malicious (using the pirated copy) i can disable the template and request him to buy a legitimate copy.
And can that javascript be divided into parts? like 1 part in header another in body and so on, so that it is hard to find the code.
I know there is no 100% full proof way of securing but having done little from our side can also help us avoid few pirate's .

I am using a technique and I'm not sure whether it will deter spam bots.

Password Protecting A Folder On UNIX-based Website

protected on a UNIX based site. The people that own the web site want
to be able to change the password every so often. Unfortunately, I
have restricted access only to FTP so I really can't log in to any kind
of Administrative Console or Admin Panel and see if there are folders
that can be password protected and then have passwords changed on them.
The people I'm contracted to work on the site for aren't the most
computer savvy people though....so..my question is:

I need to develop an application where people can upload a picture of themself and then it will add a wig to their picture over their hair.I just don't know how the code scans the uploaded photo and finds where to add the wig to the picture.
