Using DHTMLXTree To Show Folders And Files

I recently started my college work placement and have been asked to make a website using the DHTMLXTree to show folders and files within them. I am not totally sure how to use the DHTMLXTree (maybe your not either) but I thought that using the FSO and creating an array would at least get me the files within the folder. This site is for a contracting company that wants to upload project files for other businesses to view if they are interested, these files also need to be downloadable.

Is there a way to count files in a specific folder using ONLY
javascript?
I am creating a site for the intranet at work that will post weekly
reports. Users will drop weekly reports in a folder and I would,
hopefully, like to post whatever files are in that folder without
manually creating links to each file..

I have four folders and each folder has one images, let say ( images-one.jpg, images-two.jpg, images-three.jpg, images-four.jpg). now,in index.php page there are four buttons, each buttons for each images. if i clicked button numer two for images-two.jpg, and then it will show that images name from that folder in index.php page. and then if i reload same index.php page or refreshed same page, i want to show SAME images that I clicked before which is images-two.jpg. how can i write that code to show images from four files, each files are in each folder.

I have to include:1) 10-20 pictures2) a title that is displayed at the top of the page3) the file name of the current picture4) a drop down list that allows the user to ynamically change the background color. Black (default), red, green, orange, brown, and blue.5) Right under the pictures there should be five clickable images for first, previous, next, last and random. 6) I can use any images for the above described buttons.7) The slide show should rotate through images whenever border conditions are met. For example, if the next button is clicked on the last picture, then the first picture in the deck should get loaded. Alternatively, if the previous button is clicked on the first picture, then the last picture in the deck should get loaded.8) When the random button is clicked, a random picture must be selected. A randomly selected picture must be different from the current picture.9) Each button must display a tool-tip when the mouse hovers over the image. 10) CSS for all formatting.11) Javascript code in separate file.So far i have:

Alright so this is the case:
So what happens is, that Firefox shows it correctly, but in IE it just writes ALL of the raw XML file data straight in a row (it does not use the stylesheet) why?
I have been trying so many solutions already. Could there be something in the XSL file that IE rejects but Firefox allows to be shown?

I have created a photography website myself and coded it all in dreamweaver cs4. Now i have created it using html, as i didnt want to limit it to flash users and loading times etc etc. So today i found myself a nice simple slideshow tool that uses html and javascript. i created it using a site online (which i will not post as i dont think we are allowed to post to online sites).
The slideshow loads images up in the background, and it plays them in a random order.
Now i am able to define individual image links to either a url of the an image, or point it to individual images, listing them one by one in my coding, which as a photographer having differet galleries is goign to be a royal pain when i want to have new images showing up.
So my idea is to replace the code that retrieves in dividual images from url's, to replace it with a piece of code that will display an image from a list of about 7 or 8 folders on my server all containing images....
i.e. displays an image from the folder .../images/models/pic01.jpg then it brings up an iamge from a different folder .../images/portrait/pic08.jpg.
Is there a way to do this and how can i go about it?

I am looking for a javascript code to display pdf files/links which are on a server onto a webpage. We are using an Oracle application and a javascript code can be embedded in it.
These pdf files will be generated everyday and going forward we will have almost 300+ files in a year. I tried using <a href="res/folderA/folderB/filename.pdf">Report for 10/01/2009</a> and it works fine. I could create 300+ links but most of the links would be dead since the pdf has not been generated for future dates and I don�t want to show dead links.
Can I show the pdf links/files dynamically? Like show only those files with links which are there on the server? The pdf files will be generated Mon-Fri and the naming convention for the PDF file would be MM-DD-YYYY-filename.pdf. Would it be possible to show the reports grouped by months? Getting the month from the file name and when someone clicks on that month then it shows only those files which have been generated in that month.
I tried using below code to get file names from a folder. It works fine on my local but doesn�t work on the server. But then it�s supposed to show only file names and not links :(

Also one more trivial question, I looked at the source code of the application and then saw that images used in that application are being called using href and location is under /res folder, where in the code is this specified? Pointer to that folder? What if I want to show some files/images which are not under /Res folder, where do I specify the location?

I have the following JavaScript (see below). The script requests an XML file from the server and displays it on the page.The script works fine when the requested XML file is stored on the same server as the script.The problem is when I try requesting an XML file from an external server such as the National Weather Service. I get an error. If I take the XML file from the National Weather Service and save it to my server it works. Why can't I use my script to request XML files stored on external servers?

I found a sample java script for a slide show.
I'm trying modify it to show four pictures at a time.
And links to youtube videos
I really have no clue what I'm doing, I'm just changing stuff and seeing what happens. Yeah, I'm surprised I got this far.
What I need to learn is:
< how to assign and change the other three pictures.
< how to change the embeded image link.

im trying to hide a div on page load,ive used this.

it works fine hiding the div named sidebar, problem comes when i try to then use an Onclick event to show the hidden div, it just wont show.can this be done?

I have some Flash SWF games on my website with advertising banners on them.
People access a certain game by going to
http://www.mysite.com/flashgame.htm. With IE no problem. But in Firefox they
can type in http://www.mysite.com/flashgame.swf and bypass my banners. The
banners help pay for me hosting these games.
Is there a way with javascript that I can tell when they are going directly
to the swf file instead of going to the htm page? And redirect them to the
htm file?

In lets say I have an HTML document that has this in it:

I am trying to use a function that is defined in file 1 inside file 2. Its not working because its telling me that the function is undefined. Is there any way to make one file "see" the functions inside the other file in javascript?

I have a form, which has a user and password, that a user enters
when i want to submit this form....
i would like to submit it to 2 two different files.
so file1.asp would have user and password....and file2.asp would have
user and password.
i would like two different windows to open, if possible. so the user
can work on both windows at once.

I'm writing a class that will enable the user to upload files to
the server without reloading the current page (using target="iframe"),
and it works just fine in Firefox, but when I test it in IE, first of
all, the iframe is not targetted at all, and IE stupidly opens a new
window, second the <input type="file" element looses it's name
attribute for some reason... I tried using DOM and assigning the
element thru innerHTML, both will just not work in IE (and will just
fine in Firefox). Those interested to have the source code (commented
in french) may just ask me. But if anyone had similar problems, and
would want to share with me, I'd really much appreciate, because this
is driving me insane!

This seems like a really stupid question. Can you include a javascript
file in a javascript file?
Rather than doing this:

<script src="B"></script>
I want to do
<script src="A"></script>
and then have in script A:
include("B");
where include is a magic word that includes the file B.

Is it possible to have JavaScript do a checksum of a file a user has
chosen to upload via a multipart html form? I'd like have JavaScript
do a checksum on the client side, embedded the result in the form, and
then have a CGI on the server check to ensure the server-side checksum
matches the client. Is such a thing even possible?

I have recently bought the book: JavaScript & DHTML Cookbook. As I
opened the .js files with note pad, I asked myself why was the code
formated in such a way. The code looks as if it had been produced by
some kind of programs instead of a person. I also noticed a lot of
little squared zeros; what are those all about?
I have also noticed code formated in a similar way, when viewing some
of the source code of the web pages on the MSN web site. If someone
knows anything about this machine-like formating, I would love to hear
from you.
