Use OnLoad To Change The Color Of A Word Within Document?
Oct 3, 2010
I have a simple html document that is dynamically created. It comes to me like this:
<body>
432 (Locked) (Disabled) <br />
545 (Unlocked) (Enabled) <br />
756 (Unlocked) (Disabled) <br />
</body>
The actual list is much longer and varies in length. What I am attempting to do is when a user opens the page, if a line contains Locked or Disabled, change the color of those words (or the whole line that contains them) to red.

I want to use a timed function (with setInterval()) in order to change the color off the chars in a word. I use jQuery fadeOut() and fadeIn() effects.
In Firefox this works good, but in IE 6 don´t... the last char didn´t appear ! The code is:

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="pt-br">

I want to make the date at the top right darker blue. But when I do that, all the light blue text next to the pictures also changes.
How can I control the color of the result of document.write output without changing the forground color of the entire page? Note my document write includes variables, so I was hesitant to imbed an html command in the document.write.

I've posted several messages concerning a program I am working on which uses a webform to create a document at the end.
So far I am able to create the doc and copy to clipboard for pasting using the c[code]...
What I would like to do is create a new word doc and populate it with the created document. I've tried with no success using activeX etc. The best I could do was to open an existing word doc, but could not populate it. I need it to open a new blank word window, as it is not practical to have a specified word file already there.

I have this markup:
[Code]...
There are two radio buttons, sometimes one will be disabled, other times the other will be disabled. I would like to make a script that: First: Changes the color of surrounding text of the disabled radio button to the color grey. Second: Checks the other radio button.
This was my plan: I would make a script that: First: Removes all the current classes and add the class "greyed_out" (or better: change only the color of) the parent element, all siblings and children of siblings (if any) of the radio button that is disabled at that time.Second: Sets the attribute "checked to the other radio button". I made a script, but when I set the bottom radio button to disabled the script doesn't work:

have been trying to rework this to call additional, independent sets of colors to cycle through (so it would loop thru a set of grays, a set of primary colors, etc). I would use perhaps a different function name in the HTML to call different sets of colors. If this is more complex than I think it is, I think 3 sets would be plenty. demo link of script in current state at bottom)
<html><head><title></title>
<script language=javascript>
colors = ["#cacdca", "#b2b4b2", "#969896", "#7d7f7d", "#ffff00"];
cRGB = [];

I have an intranet web page with links to all kinds of Microsoft Word
document that we use at my work, so my co-works can go to the web page when
they need a special document. However, when they click the links the
documents are of cause loaded in the web browser MS Explorer and not opened
in MS Word, which is annoying.
Are there any tricks - in VBScrip, JavaScript, Java or simply in HTML, that
let me load a Word-link in Word and not in Explorer?

I have a form which contains FOUR text fields (e.g. TEXTFIELD1, TEXTFIELD2, TEXTFIELD3 & TEXTFIELD4). Each text field holds a HEX,DEC color value. ABOVE this form I have a table with TWO ROWS (ROW1 and ROW2). ROW1 should correspond with TEXTFIELD1, so that when the VALUE in TEXTFEILD1 is changed the background color of ROW1 will change to match the HEX,DEC VALUE entered in TEXTFIELD1. The same would happen with TEXTFIELD2 and ROW2. TEXTFIELD3 should be used to change the color of the TEXT inside ROW1 and TEXTFIELD4 should change the color of the TEXT in ROW2. I also wanted to know if it would be possible to achieve this without clicking any button.
------------------------------------------------------------------
| ROW1 | TEXT IN ROW 1
------------------------------------------------------------------
| ROW2 | TEXT IN ROW 2

I want my (IE) Intranet users to be able to create a new Word document
based on a specified template.
The following works, but I would like to be able to pass the filename
as a parameter, as there are often multiple documents on the same page:
---------------Script Code Starts-------------
<script lang="Javascript1.2">
function NewDoc()
{
var oShell
oShell = new ActiveXObject ("WScript.Shell");
oShell.Run('cmd /K "C:Test.dot"', 0, false);
window.event.cancelBubble = true;
return false;
}
</script>
---------------Script Code Ends-------------
---------------Link Code Starts-------------
<a href=":" onclick="return NewDoc()">Create a new document based on
C:Test.dot</a>
---------------Link Code Ends--------------
I know to specify the document template name as follows:
---------------Link Code Starts-------------
<a href=":" onclick="return NewDoc('C:Test.dot')">Create a new
document based on C:Test.dot</a>
---------------Link Code Ends--------------
And change the "Function NewDoc()" in the script code to line to
"Function NewDoc(TemplateName)". The problem is that I don't know what
syntax to use to parametise the
"oShell.Run('cmd /K "C:Test.dot"', 0, false);"
line.

I want to use document.write to output the values of an array. If the array is too long, it totally ignores the width of the container div. How do I get the values to word-wrap when they get to the end of the container?
I've searched on this forum, and also googled for the answer but can't find a solution. I'm still fairly new to Javascript.

Talking about a js script which changes an iframe src through a "ref_to
iframe.setAttribute("src", document_path);", I would like to launch a
check() fct when this new document is loaded.
Of course, knowing, I don't want (and can't n some cases where document
is generated by a cgi script) to edit every possible document which is
potentially loadable in the iframe.
In fact, I've through about the idea to on fly add an "onload='check
()'" to every document, but don't know how to do that :-(
Maybe using attachEvent or something arounnd this : I don't know. Of
course, I wish a solution working in the majors browsers.

I am trying to add some styling to the first word of all of my H2 headings.
Now obviously this would be very easy to do using a span, but let me clarify my situation.
I am working on a Joomla! site, so a lot of my code is read from php and sql files. I thus can't go and wrap my text in a span by hard coding it since it is dynamic and read from a database.
I thus decided that manipulating it using javascript will be the simplest. The only other chice is to write a php script that does pretty much the same thing, but I prefer javascript.
So here is what I am thinking of doing:
I want to select all of the H2 elements from my document, get access to their text content, single out the first word, and then wrap it in a span. The span will have a class, which will then simply be styled using CSS.
I though I was on a roll, but is seems that I have hit a snag. I am able to select and edit a single element with an id, but not all of the H2 elements in my document.
I was using 'getElementById' and assumed I could simply change it to 'selectElementByTagName' at some point.
I then used 'innerHTML' to retrieve and manipulate the contents.
Here is my code so far, and it work to some extent:
Code:
It seems though that 'innerHTML' does not work with 'selectElementByTagName', and I can't seem to find a similar command that does.
I also can't use ID's since I can't manipulate the HTML (at least not without scratching through a whole mess of php). Even then I need to manipulate various elements on one page, so ID's are no good anyway.
So my question finally is this: Is there a similar command I could use, or am I busy going in the wrong direction?

I'm trying to have a sentence change a single word every 2 seconds, and i have little experience using jQuery, but I'm trying, I've spent a while looking all over and the closest I came was to cycle through a list.[code]....
I'm trying to have only the word (blue) change to (red) after 2 seconds and then to (green) after 2 seconds, but all with either a scroll, or a fade in/out.
I'm wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction?
