Anyone have a link or search term for a way to allow the user to upload a list of file names to a web form? I do not need the actual files, just the file names -- name only or full path, doesn't matter. I can live with either just pointing to a directory and grabbing every file name in it, or requiring the user to select all the desired files from within a directory list. (My guess is that the JavaScript sandbox for a web form won't allow this, but I figured I'd check with you experts before looking into other possibilities, e.g. Java applet, etc.) I'm already using the JQuery library for some other stuff, in case there's something I should be looking for there or one of its plug-ins.
How can I dynamically get all files name from a directory?I need to have a directory with pictures, and when I copy new ones, on my website to have them listed inside of a div. If jQuery can't do this, there is otherpossibility
I need to make a page that will make a list of all the files in its folder and display the names of the files on the page. It needs to be able to work offline.
I know how to do this with php server side code, but this needs to be able to run on a memory stick. Is Javascript the best way to do this?
A script to read the current roots directory or filenames-list into a Javascript array?
Some say it is only possible by calling a JAVA applet method and returning the array as a public variable for Javascript to use...if so, has anyone done it and can provide a sample?
I am only trying to read directories & image files offline, on the current root level or perhaps up a folder, so I hope there are no security access issues to deal with.
I want to write a javascript to list of all files in a folder including files in the subfolders. This is for the scorm purpose to list all the files. some examples are listing files but not listing the files inside the subdirectories. I want the file's full path like C:Documentsjavascriptwilson.js like this.
I would like to allow a user to browse his local directories, choose an image (probably .jpeg) file, and upload it to the server (a servlet). The same functionality that online datiing agencies use to let people save their photograph with their profiles. (My application is an online Want Ads.)
I feel that this must be possible within a minimal client (without a JVM) using nothing more than JavaScript, but I'll be damned if I can find how.
Would one of you more experienced JavaScript people please point me in the right direction.
how can i call a web method asynchronously to upload a file in database ? In my web page i have to implement multiple attachments and all attachments should to uploaded asynchronously to database on click of a Button. Note that clicking button should not post the form to server, rather that should only upload the files How can i achieve this ?
I've got a select list which lets you select from a list of directories. Currently it is completely normal, just lists each directory, and its subdirectories all in the same way. I'd like to have a list that lets you see all the top level directories, and click little pluses next to them to see their subdirectories, then click the minus to hide the subdirectories, etc....But inside an html select list or something similar.
Does anybody knows a good jQuery multiple file uploader? The idea is when somebody click on the Upload link some kind of popup box needs to appear. Something like the media uploader in WordPress. The background of the website becomes grey, and only a upload box appear. It would be cool that only if you have selected one file, the next input for a new upload appear with a max of 9 uploads at a time ...
I have used this script for multiple upload using one file control. In this i have give limit for upto 3 times user can upload. also user can remove which is uploaded. But main problem is when user remove last uploaded file than its ok but when user remove first uploaded file and then add new file that time user can upload more than 3 files? Whats the problem I can`t found.
My script is
<script language="jscript" type="text/javascript"> function getCount() { var cnt = 0; for ( var i = 0; i < upload_number; i++ ) {
I have an upload form that is working fine with a submit button, but I really would like it to submit on its own without a submit button onChange when a user selects an image. I have it sending the form with onChange but it is not sending the uploaded file like when you hit the button! It is sending it as "example.jpg" instead of actually sending the file for upload.
in Gmail (I've noticed it in other services too..)after you log in, progress bar appears. What does it do? Uploads all the JS(containing ajax) files into client's machine? or what?
There is a slideshow on my website that reads in the address of local images and puts them in a slideshow rotation to be displayed on the page. I currently have to "hard code" the addresses in, similar to the JavaScript below:
However, I want to be able to place images in the Images directory without having to make sure the files are named the same as in the code. I would like JavaScript to go out to a local directory, see what's in there, grab anything in jpeg format (regardless of the name), and put it in the slideshow rotation.
From the little I've read in this plugin's source code, ajaxSubmit() switches to "iframe mode" whenever it detects a file link in the form. The file is uploaded fine, but the server, which normally replies with different content. based on HTTP_X_REQUESTED_WITH header, fails to do its thing. This header is normally set to "XMLHttpRequest" on normal jQuery .ajax() calls.
The server I'm running is on rails, and I'm using the "request.xhr?" test.
I admit I'm not too familiar with iframes (or jQuery, for that matter:), but surely there must be a way to get around this, so that this can act as a simple drop-in replacement. Should I be looking at other headers, like "Accepts" or the kind, or should the plugin (or my code) be forcing the HTTP_X_REQUESTED_WITH header?
I am currently testing StickBlog's Upload multiple files with a single file element and need some help. I would like the files to be placed into a definition list with the delete button before the file. Can anyone provide an example showing how I would do this?
I'm working on a project for work and I'm having some issue trying to distribute to program the smoothes as possible, on idea I had was using Javascript, Im kind of new at this so ill explain to you what Im hoping to do. Basically Im looking for a onload= function when the .hta opens it would get a file from lets say G:\path\path1\path2\file.hta to C:\path\path1\folder So it would take the file and copy past it in another folder from a different directory. I want to make an extensive browser/fileupload script inspired on windows Explorer... A server side listing of the files and directories with the home directory specified in the script and a listing of the clients files. The server side part can be found on http://vegeta.evilkalah.be ... The idea now is to make it possible to upload or download (maybe drag and drop) files from on side to the other. I don't know how I best make the client side. So on this part any help is welcome...
