I have created a div on one of my webpages, the child of another div ("header"). I have tried setting it to "fixed" through CSS but then it just disappears -- I'm guessing the reason it does this is BECAUSE it's a child of another div.If there's a CSS solution to this, great, but right now I'm thinking I'll have to rely on JavaScript.Anybody have an idea of how I'd get this div to scroll with the page, like a fixed div?

Now on some coputers the box stops so far off the bottom of the page, and on others it just keeps going off of the bottom of the page untill it is just the background and no website. below is the javascript, what i am trying to get advice on is if there is a way that i can stop the box at the bottom of the page before it goes on to the white area. i have tried adjusting the css but nothing seemed to work and i am not an expert with javascript and hoped somebody my able to point me in the right direction.

I have a page where certain actions cause the page to reload and then jumps to an anchor (e.g. #title gets appended to the url) which is disorientating, I think it will soften the blow if the page scrolls to the anchor.

i somehow figured out how to have multiple instances of the jquery scrollbar on the same page - however, i would like to use those scrollable divs in a auto-centered fixed width layout. i cannot seem to be able to modify the code in a way so the scrollbars move with the centered layout.i could imagine this could be of interest for others too since this technique finally gives cross platform identitical scrollbars and would help unifying designs.

I would like to have the scroll box content to go to the same position that it had before the page is refreshed rather than go to the top of the scroll box content. In other words, if the user scrolls down, then refreshes the page, I want to scroll box content to come back to the same position after the refresh.
I assume this would be a javascript function to get a vertical scroll position. Hopefully one solution works for all major browsers.
I've tried several solutions for this and have gotten close but right now I'm stumped.
Basically, I need to retain the existing scroll position on a page when it reloads but also to ignore any #anchors that are in the url.
