Sending Parameters To XSL Via Javascript

I currently am using this Cross-Browser XML/XSLT javascript code to perform my transformations. Code:
I've done a form, basically is a group of textareas that will send the data inside them to a main textarea, something like:
textarea1: hi
textarea2: this is a test
main text area:
hi
this is a text
No the problem is that i have some text areas that have submenus like:
textarea3:
- Subtextarea 1
- subtextarea 2
Even though they are hidden the parameters of all the textareas in my html are sent to the main textarea. I want this to send the data of the textareas only chosen by the user.
So if i choose : textarea3: - subtextarea 1
It will send this value and not from subtextarea 2 as well.
I couldnt paste my whole html here because is too long, but ill put what matters.
I'm pretty sure the mistake is in the function transfer() , because i'm putting "+" and this just adds the textareas and doesnt control which ones, but how can i use something like "if textarea1 is visible then show this in the main textarea"?
Code:
This goes in the <HEAD>
<Script language="javascript">
function transfer(){
document.getElementById("textarea1").value='Summary of the case:

i have made an application in php so that people can make, on the fly, a
form. when they submit the form there is a javascript formvalidation.
because we do not know how many fields there are in the form (it is made on
the fly) i collect all the form fieldnames in an php array and sent it to
the javascript function: Code:
I'm would like my app to send a preformatted email(with subject and
body) everytime a user pushed a button, like : onclick "
mailto:this@that.com" , without the user seeing anything, i.e. not
being able to edit the message.
Using php, this is very simple; mail("this@example.com", "Subject",
"Line 1
Line 2
Line 3");
is there a way to do this the same, easy way using javascript?
I am using a javascript to format an email, the problem is that when the user clicks the submit button they are presented with the email and they have to click send in the email. Is there anyway to do this without the email being shown to the user?
I am able to do it using a simple mailto: but this prevents me from formatting the body of the email and other functions I need.. Code:
I have a JavaScript function that receives an Array with words. This
Array can be gotten from a query to a DB using JSP.
The JavaScript function is executed when onFocus event occurs:
<input type='text' onFocus='myFunction(this.event, myArray);' />
myArray is declared as:
<script>
var myArray = new Array('j'habite', 'tu habites', 'il habite');
</script>
I want to tell javascript:
var myArray = myJSPArray;
Where myJSPArray is declared some where in the JSP document.
This should be simple, but can I change parameters like the url coming
in:
www.testpage.com?test1=a
<script>
document.setParam("test1", "b");
</script>
something like that? I want the parameter to change based on the code..
Does anyone know a way of passing parameters into a Javascript script 'from
outside' via additions to the URL -- similar to (or even the same as!) the
idea of CGI parameters?
I have this function:
var CntEmails=0;
function CreateEmails(id,name){
//passo1: criar elementos
br1 = document.createElement('BR');
emailText=document.createTextNode('email:');
email = document.createElement('INPUT');
// passo 2: anexar elementos
gEBId(id).appendChild(emailText);
gEBId(id).appendChild(email);
gEBId(id).appendChild(br1);
// passo 3: definir tipo de campos
email.type='TEXT'
// passo 4: definir value
email.value=CntEmails;
// passo 5: definir name
email.name=name+CntEmails;
// passo 6: incremental contador
CntEmails++;
}
gEBId() -> means getElementByID();
Using the function:
HTML Code:
<input type="button" onclick="javascript:CreateEmails('emails','email');" value="+">
<div id="emails">
</div>
This function works fine (thanks to sitepoint users).
But I cant send the variables by a post method. If I try in php: print_r($_POST) or var_dump($POST) I just get the static fields.
I have an easy question, likely, that has me in a headspin. I have an
include file to a frames based site that basically forces frames on
the end user if they visit the site and hit a non-frames created
page...
Simply, it is:
if (parent != self)
self.parent.location.replace("/");
However, now I would like to force an inner frame to populate based on
what frame someone was redirected from the include (above). So, if I
visit http://domain/frame/innerframe_3.html, then I want to redirect
to the above, but pass in /frame/innerframe_3.html to be included as a
URL parameter for an inner frame to be populated.
When I modify this link to:
if (parent != self)
self.parent.location.replace("/index.php?redir=" & location.href);
Then, the replaced location doesn't seem to recognize the ?redir=
portion of the new location.
Is there a different way to do this? I can't use a META tag because I
want the TARGET to be _TOP, basically.
On IE7 I'm using a script:
function saveValues()
{
var validateOK=true;
if (typeof validate !='undefined')
validateOK = validate(document.EditForm);
if (validateOK==true) {
theAction = document.EditForm.action;
if ( theAction.indexOf('?') == -1 ) {
if ( theAction.indexOf('#') == -1 ) {
document.EditForm.action = theAction + "?__haction=apply"
} else {
posit = theAction.indexOf('#')
document.EditForm.action = theAction.substring(0,posit) +
"?__haction=apply" + theAction.substring(posit,theAction.length)
}
} else {
posit = theAction.indexOf('?')
document.EditForm.action = theAction.substring(0,posit+1) +
"__haction=apply&" + theAction.substring(posit+1,theAction.length)
}
document.EditForm.submit();
}
}
but the http parameters are not reaching the servlet.But this works
absolutely fine on IE6
what could be the possibilites for this script faliure.
I am starting to find more web pages that are using a query parameters
after the JavaScript file.
Example can be found at www.opensourcefood.com. Within the source
you'll see: <script src="/shared/scripts/common.js?revision=1.6"
type="text/javascript">.
I am trying to see if there is any big deal to this or a best practice
that is starting to creep up in the JavaScript community. If this is
used only as a way to distinguish what file of JavaScript being used
why not append something inside the file? Has anyone else seen this
or know of more reasons to do this?
Is it possible to read the computers IP address and gateway address
using Javascript?
Has anyone tried sending web pages containing javascript to another user
also using Outlook Express?
Mine don't work on the other end - although I'm not sure if this is because
they don't have Javascript enabled in MS Explorer 6. I save the entire HTML file + script into my Stationery folder. Then I select Message/New Message Using [select stationery file]. Should it work? Say I sent this by email:
<html>
<head>
<script>
alert("Hi there!");
</script>
</head>
<body>
<p>Can you see the alert box? Let me know.</p>
</body>
</html>
I have interrupted a login process (going to another interim page) to access the database and retrieve the zip code of the customer (don't ask :-). so they can agree or disagree (disagree is a javascript:back)
there are 3 $_post variables which i need to send on from within a confirm() to the login script.
Can this be done? They have to be $_post, rather than $_get
Is there a php alternative to the confirm? ( if so, i'm in the wrong place!!)
I have a Hyperlink within a String like below:
sSql = "SELECT DISTINCT " + "'Action' = '<center><a
href='+char(34)+'ChangeRequest.aspx?ID='+cast(Chan geRequest.ChangeRequest_ID
as nvarchar) +CHAR(34)+'>Open</a></center>',"
I want to invoke a Client side javascript function and pass the value
of the ID. How can I accomplish this such when a user clicks "Open" he
goes to a new window with the same ID.
I tried this but it does not work:
On Server side:
sSql = "SELECT DISTINCT " + "'Action' = '<center><a href= 'javascript:
NewWindow('+cast(ChangeRequest.ChangeRequest_ID as nvarchar)+
CHAR(34)+)'>Open</a></center>',"
On Client side:
function NewWindow(myID)
{
window.open("ChangeRequest.aspx?ID="+myID,"WindowName","width=500,height=600");
}
</script>
I have a form that calls a perl script. A few javascript routines in
the form do a few things prior to submitting. For some reason,
however, the perl script is being called twice (the perl script sends
out an email, and submitting the form once results in two identical
emails.)
Here are excerpts from the script that I believe to be relevant (I can
post more if this isn't enough, but it's long and I'm trying to keep
it brief.) Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I've read about
how you need to return true after calling the javascript via a button
click, but I've done this kind of thing in other places and it's
worked fine. I've also tried inserting a return statement here in the
function and it doesn't seem to make a difference. Strange. (BTW, I
changed the domain name in the URL out of courtesy to my client, just
FYI.) Code:
How i can send e-mail using JavaScript?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI am using triple ajax dropdwon in my php file.In my form i have species_scientifc_name & on select I am sending its id to a php file for retriving data for second dependent dropdown box, Here I need to get this id in form action file.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am an avid php developer and i am starting to get into ajax so i can keep file sizes and code down to a minimum.
I am looking in the w3schools ajax examples but i am a little lost at how to send through a variable to the page i am using to process.
What i would like to do is send through an id that is being recalled from the database to tell it what to save over.

I'm using a js menu like this:
slideMenu.makeMenu('top','OKP')
slideMenu.makeMenu('sub','Level A','../OKP/KlassementOKP.php?level=A','mainFrame')
slideMenu.makeMenu('sub','Level B','../OKP/KlassementOKP.php?level=B','mainFrame')
As you can see I send the variable level=A to php on next page. What I would like is send another variable for the TOP item: OKP How should I do that ?
i have a some code

Can someone give me some pointers on how I can read one or more
arguements from a url, using js?
Why? I'm working on a LAMP based project and when a user successfully
registers, the header redirects to the login screen - I'd like to check
for the value of register, if read from:
http://www.mydomain.com/index.html?register=success
A pointer/hint as opposed to a solution should be sufficient because I'm
doing pretty well learning javascript.
I am pretty rusty with javascript and I am trying to make a webpage
that will basically act as a wrapper from one webpage to another. What
I mean by this is that I will hit this page like:
webpage.htm?Param1=... and I will take the passed params and post them
to another page. I have the post part working, but I was just
wondering how I can use just Javascript and read those values passed to
this webpage. Is this even possible?
I found this little script for extracting parameters from a url but wondered
what the shortest and most efficient way to do it would be, like the
following or via regexp?
function getParameter(paramName) {
var currentUrl = window.location.search
var strBegin = currentUrl.indexOf(paramName) + (paramName.length+1)
var strEnd = currentUrl.indexOf("&",strBegin)
if (strEnd==-1)
strEnd = currentUrl.length
return currentUrl.substring(strBegin,strEnd)
}
Any shorter way?
