Scrolling DIV Code For Rendering Dynamic HTML Content
Jan 7, 2010
This is what i need to do: I have a single <DIV> </DIV> for rendering dynamic HTML content. it already has a scrollbar in it when it overflows with text. I want to be able to prevent the user from selecting text on the DIV, and at the same time, when they click on the DIV and drag the mouse up or down , the HTML document will be scrolled proportionally to the dragging.
This is sort of a design/javascript question. It involves CSS rendering in dynamic areas of a page using IE.

HI There, We've created some example static html pages (using CSS) that look great in IE. We are now converting these into dynamic pages that use javascript to dynamically update certain areas of the page. After the conversion the dynamic areas of the page do not render the CSS styles (the styles are not displaying correctly). This only happens in IE. The styles display correctly for other browsers (firefox).
I am using the javascript DOM to update the dynamic areas of the site. For example when creating a <atag that needs attribute class=over....I add the following code.
jQuery - Scrolling browser Window. I have two demos of scrolling page content with jQuery.
This one - [url] is scrolling the contents inside a container and it works as I wanted on Mac/PC
Code:
I need the same effect as above but I need to scroll the whole browser window.
I have a demo here - [url]
Code:
Problem here is on the Mac the transition are jumpy and it seems to flash the first yellow div before sliding up or down. Testing on a PC it will slide down but won't slide up. How can I get the whole browser window to slide up and down with a smooth transition.
I have created some Javascript to make a form application dynamic. My problem is that the code works in every browser except for internet explorer. I get no errors from Firebug and I have made sure that internet explorer has javascript enabled. I am completely in the dark as to why this would be happening. It works perfectly in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. Here is my entire code for the form, it is for a housing application for a college,
Code: function runAll2 (processPart, areaType, spaceType, mealType) { pp = document.getElementById('fld2416'); at = document.getElementById('fld2417'); st = document.getElementById('fld2418'); mt = document.getElementById('fld2481');
[code]....
This for is supposed to go live on Tuesday and I didnt realize that it wasnt working in IE until today. I am pretty good at HTML and CSS and know a bit about cross browser testing, I just didnt even think about it because this form is entirely ASP and Java, my bad.
I have been playing with JavaScript few days now. I have a php script that returns data in XML. I want my Dashboard (html) page to show the response back from my php file. Since this is going to be a Dashboard hence it needs to refresh the content every second hence using JavaScript.
I want to get some guides, tutorials, or how-to for this. Any help would be much appreciated.
Here is what I get from my .php file if I do a POST method to it and define variable "extension=9999" to it code...
How can above be nicely presented in an HTML using JavaScript and how would this query be refreshed and re-POSTED every 1 second?
P.S. Amount of XML data coming back to me is dynamic. So, I don't know how much data I get back. Sometime nothing. Sometime 4 childs. Sometime 10 childs in the XML.
I have a news ticker in my site, which is using prototype. It works good in all browsers, but the problem is while loading the news ticker content is rendering outside the div.
Is there any ways to hide the content while loading or any other ideas to prevent it loading outside the div.
Working throu' the Sammy Tutorial with an intent of using a RESTful django server with sammy.[code]Where the console on chrome reports Uncaught ReferenceError: Sammy is not defined and altho' I get to see the template code in the webpage it does not appear to be rendering.All files are visible from the browser including the template code.The error is reported from line 55 [code]which comes after the function declaration.I'm a python/django creature and rarely venture out to the wilds of the client side. Have I made some particularly simple js/jquery/sammy error ?
I like to try to do some jquery and spinner then load some html code into a div content. I'm not looking deep into the coding part of jquery yet but here's my question. What will be the a href tag look like?
Do you put the url on href or attr? Can I still put the url on href? The reason I ask it's because seo friendly? Will search engine look into other pages by href? But I guess this way will actually load the whole page in the browser and there's no way I can do ajax stuff in this format? I like to do something nice on my links but don't want to hurt the seo part.
I have a site which is rendering some CMS-driven content with empty paragraphs. I'd like to remove these spaces dynamically with jquery. I'm trying this but it doesn't work:
How to just replace all occurences of '<p>Â </p>' within nothing (i.e. remove them)?
My javascript quits working when I am rendering the html? (It works perfectly fine if the page is opened from http address directly). I did some research and concluded that "JavaScript is executed on page load", so when I render my html, my JavaScript functions are not automatically called.how should I call the javascript functions manually?
verify.html:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <HTML> <HEAD> <Title>form</Title>
One of my clients has been using <marquee> to make some text scroll, but apparently it doesn't comply with W3C accessibility guidleines. I've been hunting around for a CSS/JavaScript code so we can lose the <marquee> command, but I can't find one. Do you know where I can get hold of one?
As the function loops a new line is added to the contents of the layer. When the content is more than the height of the layer the scroll bars appear. This is fine, but what i want to be able to do is get the function to automatically scroll to the bottom of the content so the last line is always visible. Any ideas how i could do this?
I need to use self.scrollTo(x,y) as the last action in a js function called by a onClick event. It seems that the scrolling actually takes place, but the document is then scrolling back to top when js code execution has ended.
In the following example I get this effect in IE6 with the third and fourth calls, while the first two work fine. Code:
The window is supposed to automatically scroll and move but it isn't working. (It was taken from a discontinued book called javascript in 24hrs) The javascript:
var pos=100; function Scroll(){ if (!document.getElementById ) return; obj=document.getElementById("thetext"); pos -=1; if(pos < 0-obj.offsetHeight + 130) return; obj.style.top=pos; [Code]...
My Javascript abilities are sub-par so I normally try to follow tutorials or examples to implement java for now. Although I digress. To the point... I'm coding a web site for a photographer and need a natural looking picture selecting menu.
For example...
Now you kinda grasp what I'm attempting to do here.. anyone know of a good tutorial or example showing how to do this? I've seen several auto scrolling menus but that's not what I'm looking for. I just want an intuitive nav bar for pics...
I am using xmlhttp.open();xmlhttp.send(); to send a php content to a div. This php content is again using the same method to get php content from a further page.The content of the div, does not seem to be using the css and javascript files defined in the calling pages <head> section.
Javascript file: scripts.js client.php ----> loads data from: display_client.php display_client.php ----> loads data from: display_brand.php
I've gotten .load to load content into a div but if the window is not at the top of the page it scrolls back to the top each time the new content is loaded but I wanted to avoid any sort of change on the page other than the content in the div. It seems pointless if the user has to scroll back down to the div where the content is each time? code...
Is there a way to keep the window in the same position? Also while I'm at it - is there a more efficient way to write this considering I have 9 pages or should I just write this code out for each instance?
I am trying to make a gui for clients to edit a php page that displays html and javascript.
I want the user to be able to move html elements around and even edit it like add effects like fade in and out etc.
Then after all the changes I want to overwrite the existing php file that does this for that user. how can you make such changes and then save it to a file?
It's an html / javascript editor but using a gui instead of allowing them to directly touch the code. It would be a security risk if I allow such a thing. So I need to program a interface that would make such changes and save them to file.
Like how can you delete and add new javascript code to the file?
I want to change the content of different div's using .html(). The change should be done by clicking on the inner element of the container. The content of the clicked container should be changed with the first container. My problem is, that the following code does the change, but only once. After every div has changed one time, no more reaction is shown.
I'm working on an intranet. Target browser and mailclient are IE6/Outlook2000.
I use a topframe because I want to mimic Excel's fixed columnheaders. When scrolling long lists of data, the columnheaders in the topframe remain visible. Displayed data is dynamic, using php.
Now my question:
I want to give my users the option of sending the content of frame[main] to a collegue by clicking a button. I'm looking for a clientside solution because I want this action recorded in Outlook's "Sent" folder. Server side is not an option.
Apparently IE allows sending a html page through mail. But as I use frames, the sent html page is empty. OnClick-ed, I assume I'll have to do a .focus to the correct frame, and then the incantation that IE uses to mail a htmlpage.
