Rollover Image Links Don't Work Outside Template?
Apr 10, 2009
I've built this DreamWeaver template for a website, the links I am using are Jpegs that, when rolled over, change to another Jpeg with a different color scheme. When I preview the template in any browser on in DreamWeaver's Live View, everything appears to be working fine.
Here's the problem: When I make an HTML page based on the template and attempt to view that HTML page, I get the following results:
Firefox: Nothing happens when rolling over IE: ActiveX prompt, upon allowing unblocked content I'll go over a button, at which point it switches to that "I can't find the image" image.
DW Live View: Same as Firefox
I can't think of anything that would make that happen, here is the code I am using.
For the button image:
<a href="about_one.html"><img src="images/buttons/btnAbout.jpg" width="75" height="40" id="btnAbout" onmouseover="changeAboutLink()" onmouseout="revertAboutLink()" /></a>

I am to create 4 links on a html page that when the link is clicked it brings an image up in a certain position. When you click the second link it is to bring that image up in the same position as the first image and so on and so on. I can get the links to work but the image is full size and it is not in the position that I was expecting it to be in. Once the image is displayed it covers the links so they are not able to be used. I put all the code on one page just for testing purposes, I figred that if I could get it to work in one page splitting the code into a css page and a js page would be the easy part. I have rewritten the code with buttons instead of links and I get the same result.I think there is a problem with the css but I am not sure.

I have navigation buttons that I'll call primary buttons. I also have secondary navigation buttons that I'll call secondary buttons. If you rollover a primary navigation button, it should make secondary navigation buttons 1,4,and 5 go to rollover state A. However, if you rollover secondary navigation button 1,4 or 5 they should go to rollover state B.So the simplest way I can explain it is that the secondary navigation buttons need two rollover states possible.

Before, I had an iframe, and when I moused over a link outside the iframe, it would load a page into the iframe. Background image was part of the page loaded, as well as the text and what not. The problem was, the image took too long to load. I've been learning how to do javascript and I came across some code for preloading an image before the mouseover so there was zero wait time. For the past few days I've been trying to figure out how to have the preload image appear BENEATH the iframe (now with no background image or color) with the allowtransparency attribute set to true.
I've figured out the code to do both individually, i.e. I have the code so that when the link is moused over, the new image will appear; AND I have the code so that when the link is moused over, the page with load into the iframe. Both work, both do what is expected, but they don't do it together.Below is the script. Here's where it's confusing. If I have the "setupImgRollover..." first inside the if statement: the page loads into the iframe, but there is no image. If I have the "setupImgRollover..." after the "document.link..." commands in the if statement: the image appears but the page does not load into the iframe.
HTML Code:
window.onload = rolloverInit;
function rolloverInit() {
for (var i=0; i<document.links.length; i++) {
var linkObj = document.links[i];
[code]....

I am new to jquery, and love it so far, but I am more of a designer, not a developer. I am learning jquery to enhance my sites, and I am having a problem figuring out buttons.
I have them working in firefox and safari, but in IE links do not work.
Here is the script I have, and the button code.

I'm using jquery/ajax to create some links with window.open method. Here's the relevant code:
$("#content").empty();
$.ajax({
type: "GET",[code]..........
Basically, when you click a link a function is called with a parameter based on the particular link you run. Then the code runs through an xml file, and if the parent of the nodes I've cyling through has a value equal to the parameter past to the function, that node is used to create a new link with window.open function attached to it.It all works, or seems to, and when I alert what is being built, it looks right to me, yet the links don't work.I've attached a copy of one of the alerts of one of the links as it's built.

I have coded my navigation bar so when you mouseover a button (about us- for example), it displays a sub menu using images below using a simple multiple image swap. When I mouseover another main button, the first ones are replaced with the new sub menu items-images.
All works fine, however, I cannot figure out a way to code into the existing script to assign and make hyperlinks associated with the sub menu buttons change as well. Here's my web page: [URL]
I have just the main nav button links contractor and freelancer activated right now. Here's the code below (using MM_swapImage):
<script language="JavaScript">
<!--
function MM_swapImgRestore() { //v3.0
var i,x,a=document.MM_sr; for(i=0;a&&i<a.length&&(x=a[i])&&x.oSrc;i++)

I have an image wrapped inside a link tag.<a href="somepage.html"><img id="content" src="img/some.gif" /></a>
I want this .click target to be the link: $('a').click(function(e){
Instead, the target returned is the image [HTMLImageElement].
I have tried using closest()and currentTarget:
But they all still return the image, not the link.

I am trying to implement a cool effect seen here: [URL] in the sidebar and detailled here: [URL]... ith-jquery with little success...
I have included the easing and color js files as well as jquery (present in the theme anyway).
The code I'm using is:
jQuery(document).ready(function(){
jQuery.easing.def = "easeInOutSine";
jQuery('#sidebar .widget ul li').bind('mouseenter',function(){
jQuery(this).stop().animate({
[Code].....
The line which I believe is causing problems is:
jQuery('#sidebar .widget ul li').bind('mouseenter',function(){
I have tried different variation of the element, e.g.
jQuery('#sidebar .widget > ul > li').bind('mouseenter',function(){
but simply don't know what this needs to be (or the relevance of using '>')
Thinking there may have been a conflict in the code, I disabled all other JS - this didn't help.
The site is [URL] (look for the categories in the sidebar).

I want to create something similar to what they achieve with this script:[URL] I know I could just download their script, but it's for a website that will be commercial in nature, and my cousin doesn't want to pay 29 pounds (which is a lot in AUD!) for it. I can use a rollover to display a larger image next to it, but I'm not sure on how to make the image move like that one does.

The button shows a little toaster that revolves in response to an mouseover event. The first time you click on it nothing happens but it works the second time. Same thing with the onClick event. Doesn't work the first time, but works the second time. The code uses the setInterval function to advance through the frames. Help anyone? Check it out here:[URL]
Code:
// JavaScript Document
window.onload=initAll;
var interval=30;
var countSpin = 0;

I am developing a site that requires the navigation menu to have one rounded corner at the end on the home button. The default button state is created using a background image but I need it to also have a rollover effect on hover and also on focus (for the home page item only). I have tried to use CSS and curvy corners Javascript code to create the effect as I don't want to use images. However, I don't think the curvy corners script is picking up the div item that I want to apply the corner to.
The trouble is I have a number of div boxes on the site that also have rounded corners (3 rounded and 1 square). The CSS is working fine for these in all browsers apart from Opera but when it comes to the navigation it doesn't work properly in IE. Here's the HTML for the menu:
Code:
<div id="menu">
<ul>
<li><a href="index.htm" class="home">Home</a></li><li><a href="#">Mortgages</a></li><li><a href="#">Life Assurance</a></li><li><a [code].....
The CSS is in an external stylesheet, although I have also added the CSS for the rounded corner items to the header code.The class 'homefocus' seems to work when applied to the a tag on the home page but the other class 'home' which should work on hover won't work in IE.

Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
$('#seniorpeoplemeet').FontEffect({
gradient:true,
mirror:true,
mirrorColor:"#CCC"

I have a two navigations areas; top and side. I need when someone rollovers the top button it'll change image and also change the button on the right left menu.
So summing up it's 4 images. Two normal states and two rollover states. When you rollover one, both need to change to the rollover state.

The problem i'm having is simply getting an image to swap on a mouseover. Well I sort of had it working but then I cahnged the function to try and accomodate for more images and it just fell over dead.
Let me show you the function I have for it. Bear in mind I'm used to coding but more PHP and VB rather than JavaScript
<script language="javascript1.5">
Rollimage = new Array()
Rollimage[0] = new Image(244,244)
Rollimage[0].src = "images/personal_up.png"
[Code]....
BTW I have searched google and read many articles on this but still can't get it to work. Also I have searched previous articles on DaniWeb and again none solve the problem.
The address of the page is [URL]

i created a search for products on my site. and right now all the results have an image next to them to show the product. this creates some lag when theres tons of results because its loading all the images, so i was thinking is there a way i can use javascript to just show the image for each product when rolled over kinda like ask.com does?
im using php do echo the results like this:
while($row = mysql_fetch_array( $result )) {
$i += 1;
echo '<p>'.$i.") ";
echo '<img src="product_images/'.$row['product_id']._sm_.$row['product_image_sm'].'" height="37" width="37" />'
echo "<a href='product.php?pid=".$row['product_id']."'><b> ".$row['product_name']." </b></a><br>";
echo $row['product_description']."</p>";
}
but it looks like this once it hits the page:
<p>1) <img src="product_images/214_sm_19S.gif" height="37" width="37" />
<a href='product.php?pid=214'><b> Citrine and Diamond Pendant </b></a>

I know they are fairly basic, but i still tend to plump for a prewritten script. So, which is the best image changing script? I have used the DW in the past, but it is way too long for my liking.
I am looking for a script so that when you call the image change you haven't got to write 3 paragraphs of code (OK so an exaggeration...) to get the thing to switch then switch back.
I've got about 6/7 images that need changing on a mousover, and I am wondering who has the most efficien/effective code!?
