JQuery :: Resize Image Depending On Page

Aug 12, 2011

I was wondering if there is a way to use Jquery to reduce the amount of images I use on my company website as well as resize them depending on the page they're displayed on. It's just that I feel that's it's very tedious creating 5 or 6 formats for each campaign each with it's own dimensions depending on the page and unfortunately my company doesn't want to implement a Backoffice fed site, which means I have to do it all manually.

Window.print Doesn't Print Long Page / Fix It?

Jul 21, 2009

I'm facing a different problem.

I'm having a long page where there will be content to be printed.

I'm using the css using media=print to hide all the unwanted contents and using the window.print method to invoke printing.

But when i click the print button it prints only partial content upto a single page and all the remaining contents are discarded.

I wonder what may be the problem!!!

And there's another problem , i've bills to be printed in order but dont want them to be breaking in between pages .(ie a bill should be printed fully if there is enough space at the bottom or should be printed on the next page)

How can i do both of this?

How Do I Print A Page In IE5 For Mac? Window.print() Doesn't Work

Hey all. I am currently putting together a test page of mine where a popup window comes up showing a coupon that I will have a link enabling them to print it simply and easily.

For my current code I have a simple <a href="javascript:window.print()"> that works great on both Internet Explorer 5 and Netscape 4/6 on the PC but for some reason, Internet Explorer 5 for Macintosh doesn't do a thing.

Window.print() Does Not Print Page Correctly

Jun 22, 2007

So I have a print page that's written in a combination of php & html. The body tag is outside the php with an onload="window.print();window.close;"

The idea behind this print page is when the print button is pressed on the parent window, it generates this child window that is specifically made larger for printing reports that people can read easily. I use css for text styles and the table "width" is longer.

All the html code inbetween the body tags is created by php using the php "Print" function.
</head>

<body class="page" onload="window.print();window.close;">
<?php
Print "<table width=1600 border=1 cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0 class=page>";
Print "<tr bgcolor=cbe5ff>";
Print "<td width=30>WO #</td>";
// yada yada yada
?>

My problem is it does not print the table dimension or the font size above a certain size. When I print in landscape, which is what this page is designed for, it prints the same size as "scaled to fit" portrait. On the screen the size is correct and if I use the browser print button, it prints to the correct size.

The css works, it will make changes and will even make the text smaller just won't print over a certain size (9pt?).

Image Resize And Display

Jan 6, 2006

I have to display an image in a fixed spot on my web page. The images are submitted by users, and I have no control over their size (width and height). If the image is wider than 130 pixels, I need to display it with an IMG WIDTH=130 to fit the spot. If the image is less than 130 pixels, I want to display it as is.

Is there a way with Javascript to retrieve the width of the image before the image is displayed by the browser? I know I can preload the image, can I then look at the width before the HTML displays it?

Resize Text Like An Image?

Oct 24, 2010

how to resize a div containing some text by setting a width and height so it would stretch to fill that area like an <img> tag? E.g. when you set the width and height attribute of an image, it resizes the image to fill that area. I do not wish to send a request to a php script to build an image containing the text since it will be slow and affect the scalability of the web app. Oh, and I would preferably not like to use html5 because it is a requisite that I need compatibility with ie7+ (and firefox/chrome).

Alternative To Document.write To Replace Image On Page - Click Event That Replaces An Image On Page With New Image

Aug 29, 2010

Im trying to have a click event that replaces an image on the page with a new image that has been selected randomly from an array. I have solved PART of this already (can get the random image to appear).

However, instead of appearing on the page where the old image was, the new image appears in a blank page.

My research indicates that this blank page location-problem is a result of using document.write in the Function. Therefore, I know I need to find a different way to accomplish this, but am failing miserably.

I have been trying for hours and hours and HOURS to figure out proper syntax for accomplishing this via elements, functions, variables and mootools.

A bit of my research:

-I found this---but havent figured out how to implement it in my scenario:

How To Resize / Reset Dimension Of Image To Fit In DIV

Oct 19, 2010

I've written some javasript code to resize an image tag. While the page loads the image tag is display: none so a large image wont break the stylesheet before I have a chance to shrink it. onload I call function load1 and you can follow the rest from the code below. This is working in Firefox and Chrome and appears to be doing absolutely nothing in any version of IE.

Javascript after </html> tag:
<script type="text/Javascript">
function load1() {
imageLoaded();
document.getElementById("confImage").style.display = "block";
} function imageLoaded() {
var iW = document.getElementById("confImage").width;
var iH = document.getElementById("confImage").height;
changeImageSize(iW, iH);
} function changeImageSize(iW, iH) {
if (iW > 460 || iH > 460) {
reset dimension of image to fit in div
var multiply = 0;
if (460 / iW < 460 / iH) {
multiply = myFloor(460 / iW, 3);
} else {
multiply = myFloor(460 / iH, 3);
}
document.getElementById("confImage").width = multiply * iW;
document.getElementById("confImage").height = multiply * iH;
}}
function myFloor(n, pos) {
n = "" + n;
if (n.length < n.indexOf('.') + pos + 1) {
return parseInt(n);
} else {
return n.substr(0, n.indexOf('.') + pos);
}}
</script>
