Parsing Line Breaks
Feb 1, 2007I'm making a vaery specialized form to output html code to copy and paste. So far so good and I'm happy with the out come. I know it's a tad bloated but I actually wrote a little bit of it from what I've learned so I'm learning and that's the point.
So what happens is that I present my user with a form where they can slap in all the info and the out come is a copy and paste procedure after that.
In the "content" section, I'm sure there will be a few paragraphs of text being entered sometime, and most likely copied and pasted in. What I would like to happen is the script recognize carrige returns and enter in <br><br> in place of them. This is a wordpress issue so im not sure if closing a p and opening one is going to work right. Code:
Div Ignoring Line Breaks
Jun 28, 2010I am passing data from a textarea to a div with javascript. The problem is the div is ignoring line breaks.

e.g... i entered this in the textarea

the result was in the div

the div is completely ignoring the line breaks.?

Finding And Replacing A Line

contents in this format:

where the selectors and their opening braces, their closing braces, and
declarations are each on their own lines (always), how can I replace a
specific declaration (line) given a unique selector and a declaration
property. For example, if I wanted the 'color' declaration property line
in the 'bar' class changed.
At the moment I'm iterating through the CSS one line at a time looking
for the selector and then looking for the declaration property (before I
hit the closing brace).
New Line Replacing Only The First Spaces
Apr 11, 2010This line replaces only the first " " spec. character in my textarea, and this way everything's screwed up... I'm sending the replaced content of the textarea through AJAX to the server, in a GET method. I've tried to just comment out this line to see whether this is necesarry, but then no " " is transferred at all... I'm using a PHP server side, and that works.

Assume that span#target has a line break, when I see a browser. Then I click span#target, above function returns the head of coordinates which second line ("hhh") has. I want to have the coordinates which first line ("eee") has. How can I get that?

Submit/return To Php When Moving From Table Line To Table Line?
Jan 13, 2011I have a user that insists they have web applications that do this, and wants the one I'm building to do it too...
You have a table on an html form. As the user changes one or more fields in a table row and moves to the next line, the changed row should AUTOMATICALLY be sent back to the server and updated in the database.
If the user moves BACK to a line that's already been changed, and changed a field, a popup should display and ask "if the user really wants to change the field". If so, again, it should AUTOMATICALLY be sent to the server and updated in the database...
Ignoring the horridness of making that many round trips to the server and banging the database for every line, is there a way to AUTOMATICALLY do the equivalent of a submit and post the changed table row back to the php script?

Mar 24, 2010Have a asp.net mvc project using jquery-ui-1.7.2. and BlockUI. When I changed jQuery version from 1.3.2 to 1.4.1, the CSS pertaining to the block ceased to render. The functions fired (verified by in-line alerts) and firebug had no complaints. Moved back to 1.3.2 and the blocker rendered perfectly.

Adding Googlemaps Breaks Tab Opening?
Aug 22, 2009For years I have been using external_link.js, a file that I found at sitepoint, in one of Kevin Yank's articles I believe, to open new pages in a new tab when a link contained rel="external"
I just added the googlemaps api to a site to display maps, and none of the old menu links open in new tabs anymore! Has anyone else had this problem or have any idea why it has happened? Same function name in both javascripts?
