What I have is a file upload input (as part of a larger form) and I want to get some javascript that will replace spaces in a filename with another character, such as an underscore or dash. If possible, I would also like to be able to replace commas with an underscore or dash.
View 4 RepliesBasically the php gives the javascript a list of movies located in my directory, I am able to successfully launch any movie not containing a "space." I changed the code a little bit to allow for a "text input" and manually typed the name of a movie with %20 instead of a space and it worked. So I would like to modify the above code to do this automatically without visibly changing the movie titles. I am not sure where I should change the code.

I have an input box with a 'did you mean' box that pops up under it, and it pulls it's results from another php page, however when a term with a space in it, such as "I am" vs. "Im" is entered, it stops working. This is the code I'm using to pull the results. So I made a added a simple string replace to change each space into '+';

But for some reason it is only changing the first space into a '+'; so for example: "Hello how are you" = "Hello+how are you". But I need it to change to "Hello+how+are+you";
I have a select that must be named starting with an underscore, and i am trying to get this working with a script of which this function is a part:

This works perfectly if i remove the underscore from the select name and the
'document.product._verse.selectedIndex' line, but the select really needs that underscore for my shopping cart script.
I can work without this, but it is perfect for what i want, which is text (verses) showing when the customer scrolls through a select.
Are underscores not allowed in this context regarding the function above?
I suppose not, as it won't work with it.
I am not very profficient with javascript.
Is there a way round this so that i can leave the underscore in the select?

How can one add a support the line breaking by underscore?

(in other words I've added the hyphen and underscore after the 9)
then I'm allowing the hyphen and underscore as valid chars like a-z 0-9, but
nothing else.
It appears to work, but I don't know if I've screwed up the whole test
rather just the chars I want to add.

I am using the youtube chromeless player and embeding videos with loadVideoById() method problem is that videos with an id that contains an underscore or dash dont play although they play in the normal player. I also tried replacing with a hex value in querystring i.e (%5f) but that did not work I also tried loadVideoByUrl() method with several urls but still they don't load. here is my code

My problem is im trying to use string.replace that is not case sensitive and replace every string found. I could use regular expression with it but my stringToBeFound is a dynamic variable im getting it from my database

to remove all the spaces in a string.
However in IE6 it complained with and "Expected ')'" error.
How can I tell IE6 to replace just spaces (i.e. not using s)?
I tried / / and /[ ]/ but neither of them worked either.

I've been designing a web application that scales to fit the available window space in the web browser so that there is no need to use the scroll bar (and the whole point of the application is to fit the window). I've already figured out how to catch resizes and change the height of the elements on the page (It's pretty simple using onload, onresize and document.getElementById().style.height), but I can't seem to get an accurate height to scale the web content with. The height I want is not the height of the document (Which would be the height of the content...which is what I'm trying to change in the first place!) and not the height of the window (Because if I'm not mistaken that includes the status bar, the tab bar, the URL bar, etc. which can vary between browsers). I need the height of the available web space that I can fit my content into. This would be the space between below the tab bar and above the status bar (To make my height as clear as possible I've provided a link to a screenshot). How can I get this height with Javascript (And I really need it to be cross-browser because I want this app to be able to work on multiple browsers)?
