Prevents the page reload after clicking another anchor on the redirected page.
A description of the problem: User clicks a link to view the newest post of a topic, such as
Code:
[URL]
This link redirects automatically to the topic with an anchor to the latest post entry on the page:
Code:
[URL]
This is where problems start. On this page clicking any link which is an anchor causes the page to reload and then jump to the anchor.
My modification enables posting replies to topics via Ajax, and to support back/forward button functionality in browsers I must change the anchor in the script. As soon as it is changed the browser reloads the page defeating the purpose of Ajax!
So what can be done about that anchor? I'm thinking about passing it as another variable in the query string and then manually via JavaScript onLoad() to extract the anchor from the URL and then jump to it after the page has loaded. Would this work?
I'm working on a page that uses javascript very much. My problem is now that i cannot redirect to another page in IE with window.location =<URL>; This command gets executed (proofed with alert messages) but nothing happens. FF acts like expected but i cant get it work in IE. What can be the problem here?
I have an add row button that duplicates the last row of a table and then updates the item number located in the first column of the table. I used clone() instead of append() b/c the third column has a dropdown box that is filled depending on the selection in a dropdown box located somewhere else on the form. If I use append(), it will not fill in this dropdown box, but if i use clone(), it will.My problem is that I created this form and it worked fine on ie until i added a doctype, and then it started reloading the page after it completed the function. I then tested it in firefox and it does the same thing regardless if it has a doctype or not. I have other jquery code on this page that works fine.html table:
I've got this form on my page that contains a search box and a select box full of employee names. When you type a few letters in the search box it scrolls through the listbox to the first match and then if you click on that name it executes a function. Today though one of my coworkers pointed out that some people would just hit enter inside the search box and he's right about that. So I looked around and found the solution for it, it's the onkeydown event I added to the search box. Weird thing is though when you type a name in the box and hit enter it executes properly and then the page immediately reloads :confused:Without the onkeybown event, hitting Enter still makes the page reload so it's gotta be something about the form.
Im developing a wordpress site for an Internet Radio station. have the flash radio stream plugin & the small chatroom/shoutbox type thing stay (at the front) so that a user can then freely browse the rest of the site on different pages, without the actual stream plugin and shoutbox being refreshed. I need it to stay at the front at certain positions (ie to the left of the content so its not blocking it), so having a pop-up window will not work as it will just disappear behind whatever window the user clicks.Ive had a quick look at Modal windows but (correct me if im wrong) they also "refresh" if a user was to go to a different page.
I've made the following script: $(document).ready(function(){ var showHide = $.cookie('menuStatus'); alert(showHide); /* Part that dosn´t work. if (showHide==closed) { $("#menu").hide(); } */
$(".openClose").click( function(){ $("#menu").slideToggle("slow", function() { if ($(this).is(':hidden')) { //var state = "closed"; $.cookie('menuStatus', 'closed'); } else if ($(this).is(':visible')) { //var state = "open"; $.cookie('menuStatus', 'open'); } //alert(state); }); });
Now this is the example: [URL]. When page loads, you get an alert, with the var showHide, which should be open or closed. Problem is the if statement. I must say it was exciting to make this little script with jQuery. Especially setting the cookie, I couldn't have done it without the jQuery plugin. As you can see I tried to set a variable first but when page reloads, the variable was reset.
We are developing an application with ASP.Net and C#. We have a back button (html link) on few pages, by clicking on back button it triggers the browser back event. So user will be able to see his last viewed results (by going only one level back).
We are calling "window.history.back();" function of Javascript to achieve this, but the problem is that its working fine in IE but not in Chrome and Firefox. Whenever user clicks on the back button, Chrome and Firefox reloads the page from server and execute all the server side events.
What we need is simply go to one step back without reloading or refreshing the page.
Code: <a name="loc"></a> <a href="#loc" onClick="document.location.href='#loc' document.location.reload(false);return false">Click here to go to your location</a>
When you click onto the link you should go to the page location marked by the anchor tag "loc", however, upon clicking you go to the top of the page and never redirected to the exact spot where your anchor tag is located. Why is that? I'm using IE6 (per requirement) as my platform.
I need to get the page to reload with the anchor in the link when it is clicked in a dropdown menu. For example if I am on 'www.domain.com/about/#2' and I then click on 'www.domain.com/about/#3' the url changes but the page doesn't reload so I need the page to reload, but keep the new anchor (#3).I gave the links with anchors a class of 'reload' and tried this:
Our company own a lot of domains and want to put a short page of copy on each address along with keywords before redirecting the user to our main site. I have been able to get the page to load the main site after the desired time using this code in the head...
That works perfectly, I am now trying to display a countdown timer from 40 seconds down to 0, and on 0 redirect the user. Saying something like "You will be redirected in XX seconds". Is there anyway of doing this? I've been searching google for the answers with no luck and can only seem to find timers that countdown to a set date.
Why is it that we use bridge pages that say 'If you're not redirected...'.I can see it if you've moved a page and want the user to see the new url before redirecting, but are there other reasons? Does a meta refresh or window not work in some browsers?
I want to know if there is a way to prevent users from manually typing in the URL and entering the page after they have already signed out?
I was able to make the back button disabled.
Let's say if they have already click logout and when they click back, it won't go anywhere, which is what I want.
But, if they manually type in the url address, it will take them to that page. What I want to do is after they logout and whenever they try to type the url, it should not take them to that page, but instead to the login page.
Well i do have a mysql query in one php page(php_1) & I want to submit the variables to the query in different php page(php_2) via form action but how am I supposed to do it without redirecting to php_1..All I need is to post the data to the first php page query so that It performs some action over there & thats all... So hoping sumone who knows ajax might helpme out with a sample code or point me in the right direction.
php_1 page :- $query = ("SELECT * FROM state4 WHERE (LONG_HI<'".$_POST['Ymax']."')"); php_2 page:-
first time up for Ajax Form plugin and AjaxSubmit. Simple test everything worked fine. However as the design has developed some strange behaviour is happening adn I dont really know where to start. The scenario is a pretty simple form validation and then insert or update of a new user record. I should mention that the tests all relate to New User records only (Inserts) no test as yet for existing users.
3 different outcomes. Tested in the PHPEd IDE with embedded IE: inserts a MySQL record correctly but supposed to remain on the page with the original submit. instead the redirect is to the PHP Server side script page - action="ajaxresponders/process_user.php" the echoed output is as it should be. Tested in the PHPEd IDE with embedded Firefox: The insert is processed correctly however the page never completes it shows connecting/waiting for localhost forever.
Tested outside the IDE on local server. With both Firefox and IE the PHP script is processed twice resulting in two seperate inserts of the same data from the form although with different userID (auto increment) and activationKey which is generated in the script prior to the insert!!!
I need a way for a html page or something similar be able to determine what it's full path is. It must self-determine this. Any recommendations of what route I should take to figure this out?
I have 6 headers that are animated gifs. They transition, 3 of them left to right, the other 3 right to left.I would like to have them to change to next header in sequence no matter which page on my site they click.I'm not sure this can be done, but think javascript is my best bet. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
What I'm trying to do is create three rules depending on the path of a page. If the path contains 'best-sellers', I want jQuery to set the class of the page to 'pm-best-sellers'. I can do this, and it works, but when I add the rules for 'express-gifts' and 'eco-friendly' it breaks.
I am using my script to update my table with the click number and then redirect to the stored href link code...
The only problem I have with this is that my web page gets replaced.
What I really want to do is open a new window and have the new web page in that. I can put a notice to say it will open a new window, its just that it will really annoy people if my page closes on them when they are half way through a tutorial !
What do I need to do to open the link in a new window ?
is there a way to rid of the page header (usually it's the page title and url) and the page footer (usually it's the page number and date) without having user to change from the web browser's the page setup ?
Can this be done using javascript or just html meta tags?
Also we control the contents of what is printed from a web page without having to redirect the page? Example, I have three paragraphs on a web page and I don't want the middle paragraph to be printed.
My firefox plugin called yslow that gives advice on speeding up loading times says: JavaScript scripts block parallel downloads; that is, when a script is downloading, the browser will not start any other downloads. the page load faster, move scripts to the bottom of the page if they are deferrable.
I always thought that js should be in the header. What do you think?
I have an webbpage, and in the middle of it there is an iframe to a php site. So i have used this code, so after some seconds the iframe will send the guest to another page. <meta http-equiv="refresh" traget="_top" content="5 url=http://mypage.com"/> But the thing is that i want the WHOLE page to reload, and go to that page after 5 seconds (we can say). With that code, only the iframe are going to another page. Is it possible to make the whole page send the user after some seconds, to another page and not only the iframe?
Basically, I have a link that should open the targeted link in a blank page, and upon the link being clicked, the original page's URL should be changed. The reason for this is that the user has to browse information on another website, and then pass the information on to me via a contact form, so rather than make them click back on my tab in the browser, and then find the "Contact" page link to fill in the form, I thought it would a good feature to simply go ahead and load the "Contact" page upon them clicking the link to the external page (which of course loads in a new tab). Here is the code I have in place:
This all works fine on my computer, regardless of the browser that I use. One of my partners on this project called me this morning and said that the link was taking him directly to the "Contact" page without opening the "Other Site." This is strange because after I put this in place, I showed it to him and it worked fine. Now, a few days later, and it does not work. He said that he cleared his browser cache, history, cookies, etc. and the problem did not go away. He uses IE8. After he told me it was no longer working, I went to test it myself, and it works fine for me no matter which browser I use (IE8 or 9, Firefox 3 or 4 Beta).
why this might have worked one day and not the next? Is it simply a problem on his computer, or could it be an issue where based on what type of browser you are using, this won't work. Also, I know this is the JavaScript forum, but is there a way to do this in PHP without using the JavaScript onclick event? Obviously, I can't use the header() function since this functionality needs to be present on a link within text of a page.
