Populating Mailto With Variables Contained In List
May 20, 2010
I am planning on using the maito form with Javascript. I have a form and it is structured in the following fashion:
<form>
<b>Subject </b> <input type="text" name="subject" size="30"><br>
<b>Person 1 <b><input type="checkbox" name="email" value="person1@email.com"><br>
<b>Person 2 <b><input type="checkbox" name="email" value="person2@email.com"><br>
<b>Person 3 <b><input type="checkbox" name="email" value="person3@email.com"><br>
<input type="submit" onclick="submit">
</form>
What I am trying to do with Javascript is that you fill out the subject name and then you select which recipients of email you want to receive the email. So if I select Checkbox 1 and Checkbox 3 then when I click submit, it opens my Outlook and the To is filled in with person1@email.com;person2@email.com. So I guess I would need the javascript to populate and <href mailto: form after checking which names are checked and then populating the mailto with the variable that contains the list of names I chose. Right now we have a clunky method using the mailto but I don't have the option of choosing who it mails to so when I send it, I send the mail to everyone, even those on vacation.
I have created this form. I would like to use javascript to mail the form to the selected email from the selection list when the submit button is pressed.
<form name="Contact Us" id="contact" action="mailto:" method="post"> <fieldset id="selection"> Who would you like to email: <select> <option value="email1" >email1</option> <option value="email2" >email2</option> <option value="email3">email3</option> </select> <fieldset id="Name" > Name <input type="text" id="firstname" name="firstname"> E-mail <input type="text" id="email" name="email"> </fieldset> <fieldset id="question"> Comments and Questions <input type="text" id="comment" name="comment" style="width: 500; height: 300"> </fieldset> </form>
I found a script on this forum that does almost what I want from this thread: [URL]. Instead of a dropdown, I'd like to have a list of names using check boxes, so that you have the option to send an email to one or all of the people. When you choose your selections and click submit, an outlook email will pop up with your selections in the to: field.
Here's the solution using a drop down, this works (and works well), but doesn't quite do what I need : <form name="Contact_Us" id="contact" method="post" enctype="text/plain" onsubmit = "getEml()"> <fieldset id="selection"> Who would you would like to email: <select name = "sel"> <option value="email1@email.com" >email 1</option> <option value="email2@email.com" >email 2</option> <option value="email3@email.com" >email 3</option> </select> <input type = "submit" value = "Submit the form"> </form>
<script type = "text/javascript"> function getEml() { var emailaddress = document.Contact_Us.sel.value; window.location = "mailto:" + emailaddress; } </script>
Is there a way to use checkboxes but to do the same thing? <INPUT TYPE=CHECKBOX NAME="name1@email.com">name 1<BR> <INPUT TYPE=CHECKBOX NAME="name2@email.com">name 2<BR> <INPUT TYPE=CHECKBOX NAME="name3@email.com">name 3<BR>
Am trying to populate my second list box from the 1st. I have done the folowing code, iam trying to call a function in the onchange event of my 1st listbox, but it does not change the URL :( however if i manually change my URL then the thing works fine.
I've been working on a listbox full of employees for our company intranet. Each name has an onchange tag that calls up a floor map and that part works fine but I'd really like to populate the names from an XML list so it's easier for non-IT people to maintain.I've been doing alot of web searches on the subject which comes up alot but it's mostly just fragments of what I need being that I've got no javascript background.I found a helpful tutorial on javascriptkit but that wasn't for creating listboxes so I'm only part of the way there. The most important parts are the name which will be used as the text of the box and the office number which will determine which floorplan is displayed.I added the other information so I can potentially put it in a div display later but that can wait.
I just know basic HTML & CSS. However, was working on a project that would require a little javascript. It's for a travel agency and the idea behind it is there is a "booking page" that is basically an html form with a bunch of hidden values (like the destination airport code, the origin airport code, etc). The only thing a potential customer has to do is use a selection list and pick the dates available for that travel sale and hti submit. However, there's a new promotion coming out next week where if you book to travel for certain dates, you can use a promo code to save $100 on your vacation. What I would like to know is if there is anyway I can use javascript so that if a person selects the promotional dates, it auto-populates the promotional code text field.
Here is what I am trying to do. I created a .js to talk to 3-4 Drop down boxes with info I put in them. On the last drop box i currently just having it read "download" The is the drop down box I would like to populate files in a certain folder. Can anyone give me any insite on how to go about doing so? This is what is on my HTML.
I have 2 drop down list that are populated through mysql. They both contain data upon initial page load. However when you select an option from drop down #1 it populates drop down 2 with data associated to it. Sometimes the 2nd drop down list has selected data already and I need it to be cleared back to the first option when the first drop down is selected.
the following code is what I use to populate the second drop down
I have requirement the search functionality similar to hotmail. The on change or focus of the text box an list items should be populated. Please find the attached screenshot.

I am creating a quote calculator as a mobile app using the JQuery Mobile plugin in Dreamweaver CS5.5. This supports HTML5 & Javascript.
I have included a drop down list in which the user selects a specific Annual Volume. I have 2 different calculations that need to be done based on the users selection. Different calculations meaning that I need 2 different number values assigned to the option.
For Example:
Calculation #1 (I'm calculating what the Run Quantity is based on what the user selects as the Annual Volume. If user selects an Annual Volume of 150,000 then the calculated result for Run Quantity needs to be 3500)
HTML for this scenario: <li data-role="fieldcontain"> <p><span class="ui-listview-inset">Annual Volume:</label> <select name="annualvolume" id="annualvolume"> onChange="Calculate();">
[Code].....
Currently I am simply having the user enter the annual volume twice so I can do the 2 calculations, but this is really clunky and not ideal.
I was wondering how you would list multiple variables after a equal ==? Example.... if ( pathname == schoolinformation, chaplainchatter) $('#button_newspress_archive,#button_tech_college,#button_parent_portal,#button_transition_portal,#button_6th_form,#button_connect,#button_vacancies,#button_vle_login').css('display', 'none'); $('#school_information_sub').css('display', 'block'); if ( pathname != schoolinformation, chaplainchatter) $('#school_information_sub').css('display', 'none');
Or even list multiple URL's within the variables? Example .... var schoolinformation = '/st-paul-s-website/school-information/school-news/headteachers-headlines', '/st-paul-s-website/school-information/school-news/chaplain-chatter-headlines';
I am having difficulty getting the value of a specific value contained in a <p> tag, what is happening is that it retrieves the value of the first <p> tag value and not the one the user clicksWhat I need is to retrieve the value from the <p> tag the user clicked
$(document).ready(function() { $("p").click(function () { var prop = $("#property_links").val();
I have an asp application contained within an Iframe. If the browser refreshes, the page within the Iframe reverts back to the login page and the user has to log on again.Is there a way to keep this from happening if a user clicks the refresh button on their browser?
Basically I have an application which generates HTML using VB dll's. This makes the code generated un-changeable as the dll's are not to me modified in any way. What I need to do is get hold of a image element so that I can switch its SRC to dynamically change the image. GetElementById is out as the nearest I can get to it is the <a> tag surrounding the <img> tag, so my question is what's the easiest and most bomb proof method of accessing this element.
Is there a script that would ensure that I can compose an email complete with address, subject line and some body text that will indeed work with gmail, hotmail and so on please?
Is it possible using javascript to bring up the default mail package or bring up a web form in the event you did not have an email package on your machine?
I've set up some reasonably simple order forms whereby people fill in the quantities and it is submitted as a 'mailto' email to my client. All straightforward stuff - works perfectly on my mac, but when tested on ths client's PC, or others, doesn't happen. I then changed this to a remote hosted cgi action formail, and still the same result! Maybe these people don't have 'sendmail' but does that explain it not working with a cgi?
I'm trying to get the width of the elements contained in a div. At the moment that was my best try : $("div.mydiv").children().width(); But all I get is the width of the first child.
What I need is the width of child1 + child2 + child3 etc.... each child might have a different width and they can be a div or an image <img>.
I am building a stand alone html help system (.chm.) So the usual woes with mailto are not going to be encountered. Likewise I am ensured all my intended users have Outlook installed. With that said This is what I want to do.
I have a simple html form with a an radio button option group, a listmenu, a text box, and a text area. What I would like to do is have a user fill out this form, and hit a button that sends the results via outlook. The TO, CC, and subject fields will be hard coded. I want the option from the list menu on line one, the radio button on line two, the text box on line three and the multi-line text area starting on line 4.
I haqve searched the web, and groups all day to no avail. Everything I have tried simply fails. I even tried breaking this down into a simple one text box one button, with no good results via javascript. I can get it to work ok without javscript, but instead of new lines they just overwrite each other.
