The problem occurs when users browse our site (www dot parasec dot com) using firefox as their browser. When they go to the top menu, the drop-downs appear to the far left of the window.

Non-js Compatible Or Not Non-js Compatiable?
Sep 19, 2006this is more like a business question than a programming question. I see how lots of people here say that you should do a non-javascript version of your site first, and then start to put in the AJAX and javascript bells and whistles. This way it still works if someone has got javascript disabled.
But if you think about that in a real world situation, you only have so much time to spend at a project to complete it. I would rather spend it all on featuers that people will actuall use than on something that 95% of the people will never use, simply so i can be "compatible" which will not make me money.
Think about this, it will take up at least 40% of the total time you spend at your project to make it non-javascript compatible. Personally I have some forms which ask for a category name and a button to add it, and if you click it, the category is added on the fly with javascript.
If I was to make this non-js comatible, I would have to have the form submitted when the click the button, which is fine, except everything else they wrote in the form before they clicked that button would be lost and it'll be an extra headache to keep track of that. Very boring and hardly profitable.

JQuery :: Slideshow And Captcha Not Compatible?
Jul 26, 2010I downloaded and installed Securimage's Captcha code, and then my jQuery slideshow (by Jon Raasch) stopped working. I'm new to jQuery and am really a javascript noob to begin with, so I don't know where to begin. I looked at slideshow.js and prototype-1.6.0.2,js to try to find some conflict and I can't find anything obvious. Dec 22, 2009I have a marquee tag on my page that slides in some text from right to left once and the stops and remains on the screen. Have a look at the website although it is still being worked on [URL] As you can see it works just fine in IE but goes nuts in firefox. Any javascript to replace the marquee tag so it works exactly the same and is also cross browser compatible.

Jul 7, 2010I'm using Keith Wood's datepicker jQuery plugin v.4.0.2 (not the jQuery UI datepicker) with jQuery 1.4.2, and I want to use the jQuery UI Cupertino theme v.1.8.2.

May 5, 2009JQuery newbie question re using validation plugin with Django newform.I have a simple email feedback contact django form that I wanted toenhance with some JQuery validation. I created a standalone (NonDjango) version of the form and it works correctly.However when I create a Django version of the form the validationrules seems to be ignored and the form is always posted - I wouldexpect the form to fail, and never post. One difference (not sure ifit's siignificant) is that the Django forms are created from classes/templates and render as tables. However the exact same HTML code worksfor the basic form.I'm now thinking that there must be something different re how thesubmit is being processed for the Django form - but I'm stumped.

Jun 8, 2009However I am trying to have a flash embed code for SWFObject written on load by JS. This way I can include just a JS file rather than the JS and HTML, making it easier for others to include. So I know, document.write is bad. Fine, but I haven't been able to use createElement() for some reason, nothing gets created (as verified by firebug).
This works fine in Firefox, and of course not in IE. I believe it has something to do with the items not getting loaded in to the DOM, but I want to be able to apply other JS functions to the flash object (video or videoie), for example to close the video player on completion by removing it. I have that code working, at least when the code is put in the HTML and not added by JS, so I presume its that this method of inserting code causes IE to choke?

When I use mouse wheel in Firefox to scroll contents of the DIV, memory usage in Firefox goes through the roof. Code above is a fully working page, if anyone would like to see what's up, just load it up, and start moving your mouse wheel in the area with text. You don't actually have to scroll the text, just moving the wheel back and forth in that DIV will do. Memory usage will start going up quite fast, and after you stop moving the wheel, it will finally come down a bit after a short while. I've highlighted in red the line where mousewheel event is registered for Firefox. I'm not sure if it's really a problem, but since Opera and IE don't have any strange memory usage, and Firefox does, maybe I did something wrong. In everyday use it shouldn't matter [don't expect to have kilometers of content to scroll], but anyway, it is a bit unsettling.
