Jquery :: Stop IE Text Hover Priority

I'm using jQuery to create a hover effect when a user hovers over a div. This is fine, as usual all browsers except IE do what I need of them. Inside my divs I have some text and to get the whole div area to be the link I have simply placed an anchor (last in the div in html) and abs pos'd it, given it a z-index and displayed it as block so that it is now the whole div as a link. But because of the text, IE is giving priority to the text so when I hover the div, if I hover into the text area it is taking the hovered stated off of the div. I need to stop IE bringing the text to the front. This happens in all versions of IE inc 9

Im playing around with some JQuery and have a small problem with my menu. I want the text to always be visible, be on hover and not on hover. Currently, the text is only visible when I hover the <li> item. Check it out at http://cooper.zxq.netBelow is my code using to produce the menu.

I have a simple navigation system, and I am using hover, to show/hide details, but if I hover back and forth too fast between the elements, the animation queues up and keeps executing even when I am not hovering over them.

I can use stop() on animate to prevent queuing, but doing it like in the code above, stops the animation from even happening. Please suggest a solution.

I am working on an image changer. I found that if I do a fadeout/fadein on an element and then try to do another fadeout/fadein on the same element it does not work so I put my fadeout/fadein inside a function and do all my work in the callback portion along with a call to self to make the function keep running in a loop. I just need to know how to incorporate the hover function to make the script stop while hovered over a specific element (will be one of 6 image divs).

I need to get the randomness fixed because it is still returning the same image sometimes but other than that it works. I just need to be able to hault the function on hover and let it restart where it left off when I move the mouse away. In the unhover section I will be adding code to place an overlay image and href link but I don't think that will be a problem if I can get the start/stop working with hover. Actually I'm hoping to set some variable and use it in my getNewImage function so the other images continue to change but getting the entire script to stop so all the images stop changing will be OK.

Venegal (Thx) wrote the majority of the following script and I must say , he did a great job:thumbsup:. there are a few extensions to script that are needed.
the priority within the searched user words and the found content on the site have been set to "the first found" will be hilited. e.g:
1. the wonderfull holidays
2. Sunny holidays
3. holidays in Spain
No.1 (div) only would be hilited if the user search words were e.g: "sunny holidays in Spain". I need the priority to be set so that all three divs would be hilited if the word "holidays" (for example) were searched for.

I have since lost the username for ftp access to the site and remade it with paid hosting instead of free hosting, with my own domain name and everything the old site was number 2 for searching for patrick allard on google, but the new site is far down the list [URL]. I've tried contacting the free hosting provider, trying to get him to delete the site or relink it, but no avail.

I'm designing a page and made a nice menu (actually I've downloaded a script). But! There's another javascript object, and if I open the menu, some of it's items interfere with it. You can see it on the image bellow in attachments.
If there is any way to set something like priority (so the menu item would be upon the second javascript object), I'll be happy. And, the menu is set on position:relative;,

I've used jquery in few sites for open lightbox, for sliders, scroll... But I don't know if it's possibly to do what I want with jquery and I've never used "effects" with jquery, so I ask you this question and how.

So I have 4 divs with id's of hoveroverarea1, hoveroverarea2, hoveroverarea3, and resultsbox.The resultsbox's visibility is set to hidden, so it doesn't show when the page loads.
I also have 3 <p> with a class of .comment1, .comment2, and .comment3
I have set the font size to really small and the background color to the same as its parrent so the text looks hidden and doesn't take up much space.I have the font size and color of #resultsbox set to 16px and black so I can see it when it is in #resultsbox.
What I want to do is
when you hover over #hoveroverarea1
1. change the #resultsbox to visable
2. replace the text in the #resultsbox to the text with a class of .comment1
when you hover off #hoveroverarea1
1. reset the text in #resultsbox
2. change the #resultsbox to back to hidden
I also need to do the same for hoveroverarea2 and hoveroverarea3.

I want to create a webpage that has a grid of 8 images displayed on the left side of the page. All the images are "dimmed" by default and when the user moves their mouse over an image, it lightens to its normal state. What I want to do is when they hover the mouse over an image, display a chunk of text in thearea to theright of the image grid. Essentially, the images act as a kind of menu and when the mouse hovers I want some details to be displayed. Ideally, I want to format the text to make it look good - so am not sure if it would be better to create an image containing my text and display this image when the mouse hovers.

I have a Superfish Menu hover and text overflow issues due to special characters from foreign languages. In English or a language without special characters the menu and hover expand properly but with special characters you get text overflow and a hover with a negative right margin.

I have a simple menu as you can see in which i want the link that gets pressed to change color to grey.(line26).But before that (line25) i use jquery to change all the links back to their original color.But that line of code destroys my hover effect on all my links for a reason.

I have 2 example/test pages of the issue I'm experiencing. For now, I'm just trying to get it to work in a standards-compliant browser, so view in something other than ie:

If you click and drag the orange bar up or down, it works fine on the first page. However, on the 2nd page, if you click the orange bar and drag down too fast, it starts selecting text and then the bar gets all wacky.
My suspicion is that the bar gets messed up because the text is being selected. That occurs because if you scroll too fast, the cursor goes off the orange slider bar and starts selecting. If you scroll very slowly so that the cursor doesn't go off the bar it seems to scroll fine.
I've tried everything I can think of to stop the text from being selected, but I'm not 100% sure if that's the cause of the problem or just a symptom of something else (maybe bubbling or something?). I tried returning false on every mouse event on the lower panel, tried creating an absolutely-positioned mask above the text in the lower panel, tried removing all text from the lower panel, tried stopPropagation(), etc., but nothing seems to work.
If I set the mousedown/over/move on the lower panel to return false, it prevents selecting text normally by clicking the mouse & dragging, but it will STILL select the text if I click on the slider bar and drag down.

I have 7 links that need an image to change on hover. I can get it to work for the first, but not for the rest. The code I'm using is:

personal website I am modifying for a friend. He basically has a list of links such as:
Home
Blog
Pictures
Links
What I want to do is that whenever you roll over, say, "Blog", an image appears to the right of the links (the image will be a small screenshot of what the blog looks like). When you roll over "Pictures", a different image appears in it's place.I already know how to do this when rolling over images, but not rolling over text. I used document.getElementById and just set the src to the image, but how do I do this when I just have text to roll over?[URL]

i have been trying 2 days to get it to work! basically the 3 image locations are in Variables in PHP

What i want is when you hover over the div class "breaking-news", i want the div ID "latest-news-image" to change to that specific image background. example the top "breaking-news" class is on hover and the image $piclocation1 should show in "latest-news-image". if the middle "breaking-news" class is on hover the image $piclocation2 should show in "latest-news-image". i dont know if i got this in the right area as it would contain javascript, php and poss Css!
