View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to put in place a file upload validation check. So at the client-side, the User selects a file. Before uploading, at the GUI, if the file exceeds an imposed limit, it will prompt the User that it exceeds the permitted size for upload.
And if it is within the permitted size, the full file path of the file to be uploaded will then be obtained and then used for the actual upload to the Server.
My program is built on EXTJS and Java, running using Tomcat. Browser restricted to Internet Explorer 7 only.
I have a problem with the latest version of the jQuery Form Plugin (2.80). To be more precise, I guess I am doing something wrong, and with an older version (2.67) somehow it didn't matter.With the old version, the file was uploaded without problems. Now Firefox opens a new Tab on clicking the submit button and nothing is done. Chrome doesn't open a new tab, but also nothing happens. In Wireshark I can see that there is no file attached in the POST message with the older version, the file was sent.My first guess was that my file handling on the server side is erroneous - but on the other hand, when there is no file attached, what should I handle there?

I've done a fair amount of PHP development, but am new to Jquery. What I'd like to do is develop a tablet web app that uses custom image buttons for numeric-only data entry to populate form text boxes. Basically, when an image button (0 - 9) is tapped by the user, then the text box having the focus gets that corresponding digit added. There will also be a "back" button to erase, and a "send" button to process the form. It looks like this should be possible to do using Jquery or Jquery UI, but again I'm a newbie with Jquery and am not sure how to proceed.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am working on a ASP.NET application and have some forms that require to be popped up and let the user edit information on them. These windows must stay in focus until closed, but I have having some issues implementing this.
We are targeting IE explorers and have tried the showModal() which is exactly what we require (as it forces the user to the window till complete) but the page cannot refresh/postback which is what we need.
I also tried the on blur = self.focus() but that doesnt work either as when I user clicks the textbox on that popup to update a datagrid the focus is taken off the textbox and to the window again.
What I'm trying to achieve it a popup window that has focus until complete and allows the window to refresh as it requires use to update & delete a datagrid. Any ideas?
I am working on a PHP web application for my company and have run into a problem with Javascript. In a list I am displaying from a Mysql database, I have the option to delete certain entries. Before someone deletes an entry though, I want them to have an alert box pop up and asked then if they are sure. I have this simple javascript function in the head of the page, but whether cancel or ok are pressed, the page refreshes to the link. How can I fix it so that if you press cancel, nothing happens, other then the alert box goes away, but also allows the link to process if OK is pressed?
HTML Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
function show_confirm(){
var r=confirm("Press a button!");
if (r==true){
alert("You pressed OK!");
}else{
alert("You pressed Cancel!");
}}
</script>
Im trying to get the hang of it. I am trying a simple data entry page, where you can enter the name and type of an animal (eg Freddy the ferret) and it will be added to an HTML table.
The bottom of my table looks like this...
...and I have the following in the <head> tag of the page...
The way I thought this should work is that the first bit of the line would create a new DOM element, consisting of a <tr> with three <td>s in it, the first and second of which would contain the values the user entered. This new DOM element would then be inserted into the table right before the last row.
The problem is that the values from the two <input> tags are ignored, and a row with three empty cells is inserted...
I tried adding the following to the script...
And this showed fine, implying that I am getting the values correctly.
I even tried hard-coding the whole line, but that still added empty cells. Oddly enough (to me anyway), the space in the third cell was recognised, but the hard-coded text in the first two cells wasn't.
I'm about to embark on developing a class which, given a field name and server-side script, will "auto-complete" or "suggest" entries already entered in the database.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI implemented Malsups jquery form and use it for ajax file uploads. Works fine in FF, but in IE as soon as the ajax has completed the upload IE gives me a File Download box - Security warning. If I click on save it save thereturnedJson object (I do JS call onsuccessto get a file list and display it). If I click cancel or save on the popup has same effect the file still gets uploaded but just looks ugly.
How can I get rid of this? All coming form the same domain, calling from the same domain. This is on a python django project and I am testing it on the dev server.
Its pretty basic jquery nothing to exciting, don't get why IE would cause.
i'm loading an external web page (i.e. google.com, espn.com) into
an IFRAME on top of a web application we have running in IE running on
a kiosk. the kiosk is only a touch screen and has no hardware
keyboard.
i'm looking to create a software keyboard that can be requested by a
click on our web application (a web page for all intents and
purposes). the windows accessibility keyboard would be ok, but when
opened from the browser you get the 'confirm opening an exe' dialog,
which ain't cool.
so next i was hoping make an html/flash keyboard
which would talk to the forms within the IFRAME via a javascript
layer. however i later found that javascript is not permitted to
access the contents of a document within an IFRAME loaded from an
external web site. so there is no way for javascript to directly
modify the text values of the form elements.
so now i'm stuck....i'm limited to solutions above the IFRAME
level...is there a way to programmatically mimic a keypress and send
it to the browser from within the browser? any other ideas?
I have come in need of assistance in guiding me in the right direction. My intentions are to create a web-based page where one can select from a few drop down menu's, and enter a few select pieces of information. This information would then be logged for later purposes, when the user chooses to retrieve this information (during the initial usage, no long term storage) in the format of a report.

Here is what I have:

Code:
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.0/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" >

If I just make a regular upload without the ajax it works fine so I think its within the javascript...

I have designed a data entry form in HTML. In all I have upwards of 16 data entry elements (varying from edit boxes, '<input>', drop down controls, check-boxes, etc)
I know by setting the tabIndex of every data entry element user can navigate easily with the Tab key. But, even if it is non-standard, can the navigation be done with the 'Enter' key instead (it is the users, non functional requirement)
Suggest a good easy to use ajax file upload plugin ? I am using Asp.net on server side
