JS Form- OnSubmit - Function To Be Called Continuously After The Form Is Submitted?

I am trying to create a form that writes text to an HTML canvas when submitted. Eventually, the function that writes the text will be more complex. The problem is the text only appears briefly, because the function is only called once when the form is submitted. I want the function to be called continuously after the form is submitted.How do I do this? I have had very little experience with JS.A lame (failed) attempt...

I have some code comprising the onsubmit attrribute of a form. The code is
executing, but apparently a function called as the last statement is not
executed. The form content is submitted to the server. The behavior is the
same in Firefox and IE (current Windows versions). The following is

I have the following form working with on onsumbit function, but I would like to change it so that instead of having to click the purchase button to see total price, you only have to change the quantity text box input. I just can not seem to get it to work.

I have a form within an iframe that I want to use to refresh the location of the parent. I am using the form to set session variables that are used within the parent. So in the iframe I have:

And to submit this form I'm using this link:

(I think!) my problem is this; it works fine if the MyForm action, i.e. ="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] . '?' . SID; ?>", completes before loadParent() is executed but if there is a slight delay in the time it takes for the server to do this, loadParent() is executed too early and the input from MyForm is lost.
What I need is to tell the script to wait until the MyForm action has completed, i.e. the page has refreshed, before running loadParent(). I'm sure there are loads of different ways of doing this. Ideally I would like something that detects the page refresh within the iframe (caused by the MyForm action) and not something that relies on a timed delay loop.

I am re-developing my website and want to use some Ajax/jQuery in it (so I am learning as I go) and I am not sure if this is possible so that is my first question:I have a registration form and I would like to know if after the person registering has completed their first and surname and the 2 sections of their postcode if I can use jQuery to run a PHP script to see if they are already registered before waiting for the form to be submitted and running a script then.I am thinking onkeyup (or similar) after the last field is completed but I don't know how that would work needing to also use 3 other field values.If this is possible, can anyone give me any ideas of examples that do this or how I can go about passing all the variables and running the scripts at the correct time.

Am creating a framed chat application and when the user types a message in the form field and clicks the submit button, the message gets sent to the display frame, but the message stays in the form field. How can i get the form to submit the message AND reset the form field to blank too?

I have two frames. Frame "search" contains a search form specifying
an onsubmit action like so:

</form>
The other frame contains a <img ... where
the perform_search function is defined as follows:

Now, when hitting Return in the search form, then foo() is called
fine. But when clicking on the <img ...
in the other frame, foo() is NOT called.
Is expclicitly calling foo() from perform_search() the only way to do
it, or is there a magic incantation that might do what I want?

I'm having troubles with an existing J2EE application (which uses Dojo) and in which I'm gradually introducing jQuery. The specific issue is with the malsup Form plugin and the JSON returned from a form submission: the error callback is always called, regardless of what happens on the server side, and the error is always "parsererror". I'm using jQuery 1.4.2 and the 2.45 version of the malsup Form plugin.
For example, given the following code:

the server receives the submission and handles it without errors, then in the browser I always get the same alert from the processAddressEditSubmitError() function, with an "Invalid JSON" message:

However, the JSON looks OK for me (and http:[url]...agrees that it is valid).

II'm running Joomla 1.5.23 and I've been trying to get validation on a component's form fields. In the header section, I'm properly loading the validator.js file, which contains the following:

I have been searching high and low and I can't seem to find an answer. I am new at JS and I have created an form and when I click the on submit button it resets all the fields. The fields are always blank after I click reset. I have been working on this for 6 hours.

1.The user presses 'Submit Answers' button,which ends the exam and his result is displayed.This one is working fine.
2.The other is the timer expires.the exam finishes and the user's result should be displayed.This one is giving me a problem.

I am relatively new to web programming (1.5 years) and this question just occurred to me.
I use jquery form validation to validate forms on my site. If my browser has javascript disabled, what is stopping someone from submitting crap through my form?
I tried disabling javascript and submitting a form on my site and it posted.
Is there a way to make it so if the user does not have javascript enabled the form cannot post?

I'm trying to submit form data to mysql database. The POST form action calls a javacript/ajax httpRequest. My php script has a redirect at the end of it on completion of data submission. My problem is after submitting the form, the redirection works, but no data is entered into database. I'm wondering if there is a problem with my httpRequest.

I just noticed that if I use a "submit" button the "onSubmit" function call
will be invoked. But if I use a button to call some other javascript and at
the end of that javascrip I do something like "form.submit()" the "onSubmit"
function call will NOT be invoked. I thought that was wierd. Can anyone
shed some light? Here's a small example:

I want to time how long it takes one of my form scripts to run _after_ I press the submit button.
My php (to start the 'stopwatch' running) looks like this:

So I want to have an input field that looks like this:
<input type='hidden' name='script_start_time' value='$script_start_time'>
BUT $script_start_time must be populated at the exact moment the submit button is pressed, and not when the page where the form is first visited. Which is why I need a client side solution.
