JQuery :: Way To Manage .click() And .delegate() On A Page?
Feb 25, 2011
I load a static page, inside this page there are links like this:
<a href="some/path/here/with/id" class="update">Click</a>
With this function I can change the link value (Click) with a second value depending on ajax response.
$('.update').click(function(event) {
event.preventDefault();
$.post('script.php', {}, function(data){

how to manage the script scope on a full ajax application Let me explain a scenario
- Pages are loaded dynamically in a div,
- pages are php files
- pages contains scripts tags (static and generated via php) depending on
context
Load Scenario :
1. master page load pages via $.load jquery function
2. page are inserted and the script is executed (mostly input events or live events)
when i select another page (just imagine a combo with all pages listed), the Load Scenario is executed again... the 2 js code line that matter in the master page

I am trying to modify with jQuery the content of a child window but for an unknown reason it does not work. I would be gratefull if someone may explain what (how) happend. Here is my code:
<html>
<head>
<script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.6.2/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(){
// Open a new window with a bare html file
var newWindow = window.open
[Code]....
What I expect (you should already have understood) is a new div to be appended to my child window body. The div (and its text) is effectively inserted (in new child's window) but then disappears in the process. Once I look at the generated code, the div is not in child's DOM.

I'm trying to get a delegate() event to fire in IE (any version) with no joy. The code below works in Firefox, Safari and Chrome:
$('#gmap').delegate('a.removepoint','click', function(event){
alert('Remove');
return false; });
The link <a class="removepoint" href=""/> is created inside the infoWindow of a GoogleMap.
My understanding is that delegate() should find this, even though it's been created afterthe document.ready(), yet IE will not pick it up.

Here is what I have at [URL]...Basically I setup a function for message selection that will call an AJAX request. Once content is loaded via .html() in my #messages div, I could not click links from within and have to use .delegate().
The code works fine when I copy and paste code from my message_click function, but if I access the function from within .delegate(), it does not work. Is it possible to use a predefined function with .delegate() or will I have to continue to reuse code?

I got 3 sections on the site, at the bottom of each are 5 bars which are used to change the text color. I'm trying to minimize the code, so I created an array which contains all the colors, but I'm not sure where to put the call to the array. If I put it in the for loop, the selected color will always be green no matter which color you click. The bars should also go up to 40px when clicked and when the next bar is clicked the current bar at 40px should go back to it's originals size(20px)
this is the JS
Code:
var colors = new Array(4);
colors[0] = "#ed1c24";
colors[1] = "#736257";
colors[2] = "#620460";
[Code]....

I've used nice livequery plugin for many things, not just for binding events. Now when jquery1.4.2 is out it seems like it is time to replace $.livequery() with new .delegate() or even .live(), but browser events like (ready) does not work. Am I using the incorrect event (with delegate)? For example I am using livequery:
$('ul.fileList li').livequery(function(){
var oi =$(this);
// DOM manipulation, appending menus and attaching plugins and so on
[code].....

I'm using jQuery 1.4.4 andI can't understand where I'm doing wrong, I'm simply populating all the rows of a table with template function, so far so good, but I cant delegate the "hover" (and click and all the events) event on a row or a cell.
I've tried to put the .delegate() code also in the footer of my page but nothing.
My code actually is:

Plugin:[url]
Usage examples:[url]
I have a dropdown box and a div. Depending on what is selected in the dropdown box, different content is appended to the div using the jQuery append function. This is working without problems. But, when I append DOM that should trigger events, I am using the delegate method to accomplish this. That is also working without problems, but not with the tooltip plugin. Let me try to illustrate what I mean with some code.
jQuery
HTML
Using Firebug, the "inside delegate" is indeed printed in the console every time I hover over the text, but nothing happens with the tooltip. I have tried to insert the text directly into HTML without appending it with jQuery, removing the delegate and then it works perfectly. For some reason beyond my knowledge, I can not get the plugin to work when I append the text and use the delegate method to set the event.

I've an HTML table that uses the jQuery-datatables plug-in. One of the columns in the table includes a button for adding a new row to the table immediately following the row where the button was clicked from.
My HTML code is as follows :
<table id="contactInfo">
<thead>...</thead>
<tbody>
<tr>
<td>...</td>
[Code]....
With this code, the function() to execute my button's onclick event isn't loading and therefore I cant event see the "button clicked" alert msg.

I tried to use delegate, but it is bounded with events. I don't really want to execute a function on a standard event. But I would need to change the elements that match a selector, when they appear in dom. Is possible to "unhook" delegate from events?like for all existing and new elements with class ".red" to add to the "data" a new key "initiated:true".

Here is the code :
And here is the HTML :
What's happening is when I click on "test", it does show the alert but it does not go to the 4th slide. Instead, It acts as if it was the first call, therefore the slideshow starts again from the 1st slide with the default options.

I am working on a page that will load in other pages using AJAX and the .html method. Something like this :
<span id = "edit">Edit</span>
<div id = "cont">
</div>
//the click edit script
[Code]....
Unfortunately this does not seem to work, entirely. It does trigger the click event but it messes up the post for some reason. I have played around with it for the last 45 minutes or so and it seems like the click event trigger is what is messing things up, if I comment it out it works fine. Could anyone tell me why they think this is? note this is an over simplified version of my actual code, but the structure is the same.

I'm very new to jQuery and have run into a problem. I've successfully put together a script that will load images in a different div with fadeIn and fadeOut. Thumbnails are clicked on, and then the full size image will load. This content is all contained on a Gallery page. The problem is that I have a separate page section, appearing on all pages of the site, that holds thumbnails of recent gallery uploads.
When these are clicked, I want to load the Gallery page, and set the source of the full scale image. I've so far only been able to load the Gallery page with the default image source, of just get the full scale image to load. The first section of code below works fine, it's the part for the Gallery page. The other section is for the recent entries. I've removed the fadeIn and fadeOut since they won't be necessary.
Code:
$(document).ready(function(){
$(".galleryholder a").click(function(){
var imageSource = $(this).attr("href");
$("#frame img").fadeOut("slow", function() {
$(this).load(function() {
$(this).fadeIn("slow");
});
$("#frame img").attr({ src: imageSource })
});
return false;
});
});
$(document).ready(function(){
$(".recentholder a").click(function(){
var imageSource = $(this).attr("href");
$("#frame img").attr({ src: imageSource })
document.location.href = '../gallery'
return false;
});
});
