I am using jQuery validation plugin to validate my form, but it is seems to ignore required fields witch have placeholder text.ow to solve it?To display placeholders in all browsers I am using this jQuery plugiAnd to validate my form, I am using this code :
I am currently loading the TreeView asynchronously and I'm trying toset it up so an animated gif displays while a node is being expandednd its child nodes are being created. Currently it just saysplaceholder until the child nodes are done loading
Is there a jQuery way for me to retrieve the placeholder attribute of a form input element? I've tried the obvious:
alert ( $ (
[Code]....
but it returns undefined in both firefox and chrome for some reason! All other attributes are displayed fine with the above code... is this a bug in jQuery? using the latest version. Is there a workaround?
how to display placeholder text in older browsers. I've succeeded in applying the following code (taken from p224 of "DOM Scripting", by Jeremy Keith) to a single input by its ID...
Code:
function elementSupportsAttribute(element, attribute) { if (!document.createElement) return false; var test = document.createElement(element);
[code]...
how these functions should be used and how I can change "resetFields" to use the test function from the first code example, instead of Modernizer?
I have a script i downloaded to add a twitter feed to a page on my site. Everything works perfectly, except there is at least 15-20 seconds until twitter loads, so what the user sees is a blank spot, and if JavaScript is disabled, its obviously a blank space.I wanted to add a placeholder such as an animated gif to that spot, I just don't know how to go about doing that, and how would i have the gif hide when the script functions.
I am using a mootools datepicker & I am working on a french page. My date picker works. I choose a date & it saves to database. If you refresh the page where the new date should appear, it will only appear if the month does not contain an accent. ie. 21/Avr/2011 will appear but if i had choosen 21/Fv/2011 then todays date would appear instead.
This is the datepicker js code
var DatePicker = new Class({
Implements: Options, // working date, which we will keep modifying to render the calendars d: '', // just so that we need not request it over and over
I am wondering about what seems to be a particular quirk in Javascript that does not allow form event listeners (e.g. "onsubmit=...") to work properly. In the code below, I would like to set up a function (doOnSubmit) that is called when the form is submitted.
But there is a "return false;" in the "onclick" of the button. If this "return false" is removed, the code works as I would hope it would. With it there, doOnSubmit is never called. Code:
In the top right of the page is a JavaScript (Prototype) Carousel that scrolls through images when you click the arrows. It works properly in all browsers except IE 6 & 7 (it does work properly in IE 8) with my primary concern being IE 7. When you click on the right arrow to scroll to the next image it scrolls properly but the entire strip of images is displayed and it sites on top of the page's content.I've tried all of the overflow:hidden hacks I could find so.
I have a javascript prompt box (as you can see in the code below) it works perfectly fine with internet explorer however it's NOT working in firefox. I tried everything I can think of, but still its not working!
<%@LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" CODEPAGE="28592"%> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "[URL]"> <html xmlns="[URL]"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-2" /> <title>Choose Your Language</title> <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> function checklang(){ var lang = prompt('Choose A Language:'+' ' + "(Ex: Armenian, Arabic, English, French, Greek, Russian)",'English'); if (lang==null || lang=="") {lang=""; return;} if (lang=="Armenian" || lang=="Arabic" || lang=="English" || lang=="French" || lang=="Greek" || lang=="Russian") {location.href = "sermon-section.asp?lang="+lang}; else location.reload(); } </script></head><body> <a href="#" onclick="checklang()">Choose Your Language</a> </body></html>
I have a webpage(with a text field and a button) which prompts for a local file and attempts to load the file in the window if the user clicks on the button. The javascript code onClick event uses the location.href property to achieve the desired result. (This loaded page has some additional functionality which lets them upload the contents to the server.)
This approach only seem to work for some computers and on others it is loading a blank page. I have alerts in the code to show that location.href is correctly reflecting the file location after the assignment. When it is loading the blank page I see the message "Opening page about:blank" on the status bar. Iam currently using IE6 sp1 on Win2k. This issue is not just limited to this combination. We are experiencing issues with IE5.5, WinXP as well.
The code works if I pass a web site address. It only fails if I attempt to pass a file name(c: est.htm)
Any thoughts on why the blank page is being loaded or how can I go about resolving this issue.
The banner on my page takes longer to load than the website... Right now nothing is at the top, then suddenly it will appear then after it loads. I was wondering if it's possible to have a placeholder there that says "Feature Banner is Loading" so visitors know something will appear there before they click away to another page.

I have created a basic Javascript function to check that all fields in the contact form that are required have information from the user. It works fine with input fields but not with textarea. Even when I dont insert message into textarea, the script allows to submit the form. I have given the name for textarea "userinput". Could anyone look at the code, and tell me what could possible be wrong with it?
function required() { user_message=document.contact_form.userinput.value;[code]......
I have a form with multiple fieldsets which are visible conditionally. There are three submit buttons "Abandon", "Save" and "Save & Continue". Each button should validate specific controls of the form and submit it. I tried setting "onsubmit: false" and checking for "$('#myForm').valid ()" on click of these buttons., but that validates all controls of the form.
I am trying to display validation error messages when form validation fails. Currently it does display the error messages but then disappears straight away. How can I stop the page from refreshing when validation fails? I have return false in my code when validation fails but still having same problem. Currently I have only done the validation for the full name only. The error msg is showed in:
This is in regards to Jrn Zaefferer's plug in.How do you customize input validation so that I can remove foullanguage?So that first name or last name doesn't have "fck you" or something
I have the following code that validates a credit card expiration date, from 2 separate select boxes as being valid. changing this to an addMethod for the validation plug in. I have one that works as validating input from a text input, but would like to understand this method when applied to values of select boxes. Code for change function
I have a formdivided into 2 fieldsets (see the image) : MASTER and DETAIL. When I press Add in the DETAIL fieldset a new item is added to an array where I store temporarly the data entered trough the DETAIL inputs and finally when I press save I send both the MASTER and DETAIL (the temporary array shown in the html table) data to the server. As you may have already noticed, I need to validate both MASTER an DETAIL, but I don't want the Save button to fire the DETAIL validation or the Add link to fire the MASTER validation. I've been googling for a while and though I couldn't find exactly what I've been looking for, I found that it's possible to add/remove a class (e.g, required, number); that gave me some ideas on how to simulate validation groups and here's the code:
<script> $ ( document
[Code]...
Although this code allow me to stop the MASTER validation from firing when I press Add( and DETAIL validation when I click Save), I still can't manage to insert a new DETAIL if only if all of the inputs in the DETAIL fieldset are valid and, what's more I don't want the Add link to cause a form submission.
I have a select box with and onchange event to get the data from serever, <SELECT name="States" id="State" onchange="getData(this.value)" > Now i want to validate that if no value is selected from the above list, then it should not send the ajax request. How can i apply the Jquery validation plugin here?
I am using the jquery validation plugin to validate a form's email address field. The validation works but with the minor exception that when trailing whitespace is entered after the email the validation fails. I'm not sure if this is because of the regexp or a missing trim.
I'm using the Validation plugin for JQuery and was wondering if there was a function to submit the form without causing it to validate the form. I have a table with a list of radio-buttons and above that is a drop down list of states. The drop down list of states is used to filter the table rows and when the selected item changes it posts-back to the server (via $("#frm").submit()). I don't want this to cause any validation to occur. Is there another function I can call besides submit(), or some other method?
I'm using the validation plugin available here and seem to be encountering trouble in IE7. The validation is not occuring and my forms submit. Not what I want.The functions below are working fine in FF3, Opera 9.0, Chrome, & Safari.I'm going to guess this is a result of some misplaced character or ...??? Maybe a second set of eyes will spot the error.
I have a form and trying to validate all fields with jquery validation plugin.Every thing is fine except the checkboxes which i create dynamically.[code]how i make a rule which check that if no check box is checked then show error message like above input fileds do.
