Oct 11, 2010
I am making a web page which requires three main functions the layout is like this
function main()
{
update();
showResult();
[code]....
now, my problem is when I am calling main() method, right now, if i call update() method, the showResult() method is also getting executed simultaneously. I dont understand how. I am unable to fix this problem after trying many things. how I can make the flow of programs sequential?

I'm running a method:
Code JavaScript:
execute: function() {
for (var i in TXZ.dEvent) {
[code]....
I want to execute all functions that evaluate to true but I can't seem to get the syntax to actually run the function correctly.

I have a select options list where a different function is called depending on the option chosen. I'm using an internal function to check the value of the option selected, then calling an external function based on the option chosen. My problem is that I cannot get the external function to execute. I have three if statements checking three values. After each if statement I have a function call like this:
Code:
function DoWhat()
{
[code]....

My site has a template design using PHP includes. I have a chatbox include on the home page, which itself is an include of the master page.
The chatbox include contains all of the javascript functions for the chat. The problem is that I need to have a function automatically execute to start the chat, but I don't know how to do this without using 'onLoad' in a body tag. As far as I know, body tags should not be used in an include.How else can I have the 'startChat()' function load automatically?

I am creating a web interface where a user can click on a series of pictures and then click a 'play' button to play the sound (wav) files which are behind each picture in sequence.
So I have an onclick event attached to each image which loads the name of the wav file into an array. The play button loops through these sounds and plays them one at a time....or so it is meant to!
I have found that all the sounds play one on top of the other and I have been searching for hours to find a way to make them play one after the other.
I don't want to use a flash interface as I can't convert them all to flash. Does anyone know of a way to do this using javascript? I would be very very grateful if so.

I don't have the exact code anymore, but it was something like this:
$('html,body').animate({
scrollTop : $element.offset().top
}, 900, function() {
$element.find('h4').eq(0).click();
});
The click in the callback function was executed twice. Version 1.6.3.

I've been having trouble with a seemingly simple function...I have a form where 3 of 5 field values are generated by a script tied in with Google Search (like a business address). The user is prompted to enter their business license #, and as soon as the input field has val().length == 9 characters, I want to execute an ajax call among some other functions... The problem is the function works when there are 9 characters in the field, but only after I generate a new and different set of values for the generated fields (i.e. the first generated values, coupled with those 9 characters isn't enough to set off the function, although when i use a second set of generated values, the function kicks in). Here's the applicable code...although there's a lot more to the picture...

I am doing a simple function to validate text fields(you can see the code below). Now, the alert box appears only once when I refresh the page, not when I click inside or outside the username box. #username is the id of a input text field. On a sidenote, how can I pass multiple parameters to the function(not a fixed number of params)? or should I just pass an array?

I'm working on a simple slideshow made with jQuery. What I'm trying to do now, is to make it change image every X second. I know how to change image, but i'm kind of stuck trying to find out how to make it "do something" every Xth second.
Here's an example: (obviously not working..)
function slideSwitch() {
//change image...
}
setInterval(slideSwitch, 5000);
//make the function slideSwitch execute every 5th second.
Also, is there any "else if" function in jQuery? Like in for example PHP, you can use "if", "else if" and "else".. like this:
if(){
}else if(){
}else {
}
So is there any function like that? I googled it, and I found out I have to use some kind of plugin for it to work? How do I use it?

I'm having a problem with Chrome and jQuery where I'm appending a script block to a page and I want the script to execute when it is appended. This works fine in every version of FF and IE I can find, but not in Chrome.
see the attachment for a simple example. In FF and IE you should get a 'hello world' alert when you click the page, but in Chrome you get nothing.
get Chrome to execute a script when the script is appended to a web page?

I have an html page with a lot of JavaScript functions that all work fine. Then I decided to add a jQuery function, but the document ready is not executing when the page loads. As you can see below I've added the document.ready function at the top of the page, below the links. And below that are the JavaScript functions that were there all along. Why the document ready function doesn't execute? (I don't see the "ready" alert, and the jQuery isn't working.)
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/real.css" />
<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(){
alert("ready");
$(".CheckBoxClass").change(function(){
if($(this).is(":checked")){
alert("adding LabelSelected class");
$(this).next("label").addClass("LabelSelected");
}else{
$(this).next("label").removeClass("LabelSelected");
}});
});
</script>
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
function showImage(image) {
image.style.visibility="visible";
} function hideImage(image) {
image.style.visibility="hidden";
}

I have a slogan that is supposed be animated so that one part slides onto the screen, followed by the other part. My understanding of the 'callback function' parameter on the .animate() function is that it's not supposed to execute until the animation is finished. The trouble is, the two functions seem to be executing at the same time (that is, the two parts of the slogan appear on the screen at the same time.) Here is my code:
$(document).ready(function() {
// hide slogan text $('#slogan_1').css('left','270px');
$('#slogan_2').css('top','75px');});

For a webpage displaying test results I have written jQuery in order to display the points scored as percentage of the maximum, and animated bars that expand and display different colours depending on the result.FF and Webkit display this without any problem, but IE somehow does not like it. First it displays the values as intended, but after clicking away the error message, I'm left with "NaN"..

I have written a number of functions designed to return frequency data on 1000 randomly chosen numbers using different math functions for the rounding. I would like to include all of these functions within the wrapper of another function so that only one call is needed to get returns from all of the 'inner' functions. However, while each of the functions works in isolation, the moment I wrap them in another function they stop working. :confused:
The following code is one of the functions 'frequencyWrapperOne' that has been wrapped in the function 'testWrapper'. A call to testWrapper does nothing.
function testWrapper()
{
function frequencyWrapperOne()
{
