JQuery :: Selecting Random Generated Id/class?

Jun 7, 2010

I have list of forms generated from SQL database and every single one of them has to have unique id, so how I can select the specific item that is to be manipulated (changing values via php).the $("#submit").click(function())will trigger every submit buttons on the page, so how I can tell it to be "#<randomInteger>" thought of passing the unique value with onClick="myfunction(unique_id)", but don't know how it goes with jQuery.

JQuery :: Selecting Only Within Generated DIV?

Feb 16, 2011

I've got a hidden template div that contains an <LI> that is cloned and added to an <UL> on the fly. The cloned <LI> items have placeholder IDs. What I want to do is find all the IDs *within the cloned <LI>* that has a defined string in it (and then replace that string with the proper index, etc.)

So, for example, here's the HTML of the template:
<DIV id='thisLineRowTemplate' style="display:none"> <LI class='arrow' id='thisLineTemplateLI'>
<a href='#ex_EXNUMBER'>
<DIV class='LABELCLASS thisLine_labelContainer'>
<TABLE height=100% width=100%>
<TR valign='center'><TD align='center'>EXLABEL</TD></TR>
</TABLE>
</DIV>
<IMG id='thisLine_checkmark_EXNUMBER' class='thisLine_checkMark_off' src="assets/checkmark.png" width=60px height=54px>
<DIV id='thisLine_item_EXNUMBER' class='thisLine_exNameContainer'>
<TABLE height=100% width=100%>
<TR valign='center'><TD>EXNAME</TD></TR>
</TABLE>
</DIV>
</a>
</LI>
</DIV>

And here's the code so far:
for(rowIdx=0;rowIdx<theRows.rows.length;rowIdx++) {
thisRow = $("#thisLineTemplateLI").clone();
$(thisRow).attr({'id':'thisLineRow_'+rowIdx, 'display':'block'}).appendTo("#theList")
$(thisRow 'select[id*="EXNUMBER"]').each(function() {console.log("Found a EXNUMBER")});
};
Line 4 is what's stumping me. The <LI>s are being cloned perfectly. I've tried a couple of different selectors but honestly, I'm still pretty new to jQuery, so some of the concepts continue to elude me. At this point, all I get is "Parse Error" on that line.

JQuery :: Selecting Objects In Dynamically Generated HTML?

Jun 3, 2009

I'd like to do something like this: After the page is loaded I have some forms with submit buttons. The buttons have a class called "open". By clicking any of these buttons the script is using AJAX to take some data from database and add some HTML to the document. This part of generated HTML has also buttons with a class "open". By clicking any of the new buttons script should do what it does with the old ones. The problem is I have no idea how to "refresh" a click function. After generating HTML it "sees" only the old buttons.

Here's some code:

$(document).ready(function(){
$(".open").click(function(){
var idVal = $(this).parent().parent().find("#PlaceId").val();
if($("#admin_places_"+idVal).html()=='')

[Code].....

JQuery :: Get Dynamically Generated ID By Class Name?

Sep 1, 2010

I'm stumped on a jQuery related development task. I'm using jQuery in a SharePoint Web Part...The web part pulls data from a list and displays each item as a link button. When the link button is clicked it uses the jQuery-UI to display the body of the list item in a dialog box. I have this working perfectly when all of the class names are hardcoded. So in this code dialog0 is the class name for the body of the first article. newTitle0 is the linkbutton so they correspond 1:1 (and so on Dialog1, newsTitle1 etc..)

$('.dialog0').dialog({
height: 500,
width: 990,
autoOpen: false,

[Code].....

Problem is, when I have more than 1 instance of the web part on a page, because they use the same class names (2nd web part would also use Dialog0, newTitle0), if I click on an item in one web part, the item with the same class name opens in the other web part as well.

I've implemented it so each item now has a unique ID but I don't know where to go from here, so multiple instances of the web part can be on the page, and have the jQuery know which body to display when a link is clicked.

Prevent Random Duplication With Generated Lines Of Text?

Sep 30, 2009

Trying to develop a small app for my site. What is the code to generate a random # of lines (1 min - 5 max) and a random phrase for each line sourced from a multidimensional array? These also need to be unduplicated (so I won't have quote 1 be on lines 1 and 4). How do I prevent random duplication with the generated lines of text?

JQuery :: Selecting A Class And A Variable Defined ID At The Same Time?

Apr 27, 2011

I'm trying to select a class (.home) and an ID (#something) at the same time,

normally I'd use:

$(".home,#something")

but in this instance, the ID is already stored in a variable called "newpage" - I'm trying the following:

$(newpage,".home")

(note, selecting the id on it's own with just$(newpage) does work, so I know the issue isn't with my variable, it's just a matter getting both the class and the variable stored ID selected at the same time)

JQuery :: Loading A Random <a> Class?

Aug 17, 2010

I wasn't able to find a plugin that does what I'm hoping to do. Please take a look at the little diagram to (hopefully) help understand my question.

I am building a site that is utilizing a lightbox-type plugin to display a gallery of images when the user clicks image A, B, C, etc. However, what I would also like to do is set up the main content area (area '1' above) to load a random image from the row below (A, B, C, etc.) each day or two in order to highlight a different gallery/project.

I have seen a number of random image plug-ins, but is it possible to load an entire element from the same page? For example, if image A has a structure of: <a href="../images/photos/image01.jpg" rel="example1" title="Image Title">Grouped Photo 1</a> How would I set up area 1 to load that element and its attributes randomly on.pageload, and then, every couple of days, load another random element?

Prevent Repeating In A Random (Math.random) Array?

Aug 6, 2009

I've looked for a solution to this issue, but it seems like a little different scenario than other situations. I made a system for generating friend requests on Facebook. I have a grid that is 6 x 3, for a total of 18 cells. Each cell has a picture in it, and the picture is linked to the Facebook friend request page. My problem is that since each cell is populated at random from the array, I'm getting lots of repeats. For example, some picutures are in 5 cells, and some are in none. I'm trying to figure out how to make it so that once a picture is used once in the grid, it does not get used again in the same grid.I still want every cell filled at random on each page load, I just want to prevent the repeating.

Here's my current code:
<script type="text/javascript">
var vip_list=new Array(
new Array('http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/v225/1616/88/s1220771654_2158.jpg','http://www.facebook.com/addfriend.php?id=1220771654'),

JQuery :: Assigning A Click To A Class Selector - Once Clicked The Class Is Removed - Does This Work

May 5, 2011

I have a huge blob of code but the main part I am focusing on is this

$('.billboard_click').click(function () {
//this remove class
$(".billboard_click").removeClass("billboard_click");
});

1. Execute a click event when the div with the class 'billboard_click' is clicked

2. Once clicked, remove the class from that very div to avoid another click from happening

3. Execute a series of events such as animations, etc

4. add the class back to the clicker div

The code does not seem to work as expected but I am wondering if I am having issues elsewhere at this point and wonder if this actually is known to work
