JQuery :: Possible To Display The Focus At End Of Char Using Focus()?

Mar 29, 2011

The default behaviour of focus() method is displaying the cursor at start of the char(In FF focusOffset is 0(zero) and anchorOffset is 0(zero)). I need to display the focus at end of char after calling focus() method.

Focus On Field - IPad Browser Blocking The Focus

Aug 18, 2010

I'm currently making a web application which needs to be fully compatible with iPad. The functions I've implemented so far work perfectly on Firefox, Internet Explorer and other browsers. However, the iPad itself responds a bit different. After a certain action, I want to put focus on a textfield with the help of Javascript. Again, this works perfectly with the normal browser, the iPad browser however seems to be blocking the focus. The reason I'm not posting any code is because it's basically irrelevant. All I do is:

Manual Focus Vs. Focus()

May 20, 2007

I'm attaching an onfocus event handler to an anchor tag like this:

if(window.attachEvent) anchor_node.attachEvent('onfocus', gotFocus);
if(window.addEventListener) anchor_node.addEventListener('focus',
gotFocus, false);

function gotFocus() {
alert('i got focus');
}

Is there any way to tell the difference between when this anchor is
focused by a user (perhaps by tabbing to it) as opposed to when I
programatically do it via anchor_node.focus()?

JQuery :: Remove Focus For IE?

Jul 11, 2011

I am using javascript form validation, and jquery to display the error messaging and to highlight the fields. The current behavior is when you click submit, the validation runs returning an error message, and when a user clicks back into the field the error message disappears but the form highlighting (a red border around the field) remains - until the user submits the form again. Additional behavior that's needed (working in firefox but not in IE) is when an error state pops up, the field returning the error is supposed to lose focus, and the user has to click back into the field (which then removes the error message). In IE, the focus is never removed and i need it to:

Example section from accordion with input that cannot get focus:

JQuery :: Determine If An Input Has Focus?

I would like to test if a particular input field has focus before allowing an event to take place. How can I do this, I tried using:

if ($('input#div_name').focus()) { do_something... }

But I guess many of you already know that in this case all it did was transfer focus to input#div_name - Which is not what I wanted to do - I wanted to only test if input#div_name had focus.

JQuery :: Possible To Select Element With Focus

Feb 23, 2010

Is it possible to extend jquery to include a function that will select elements with focus. In the same way :input selects all inputs :selected selects all selected etc but instead :focus or focused: which would select the focused element. I have a table which includes an input field on each row (like a simple datagrid). Id like to be able to hit an access key and delete the row (input textbox) which has focus ie the row which the cursor has been placed in.

I found this but it selects the first input textbox only for some reason?... and not the one with focus.
$.extend($.expr[':'], {
focused: function(elem) { return elem.hasFocus; }
});
var id = $('input :focused').val();
console.log(id);

JQuery :: Elements Not Validating Until After Focus?

Jun 3, 2011

I've used this plugin many times and this is the first problem I've had with it (1.8.1). I've uploaded my standalone version (unstyled) here to demo: [link redacted, see reply for solution] try submitting the form, then focusing on some fields and attempting to resubmit. I have a form with 6 fields, all required (class attribute 'required' has been added to them all). On submit, only 2 of the fields display an error message as they should. The other fields do not act as required. Filling in data for the 2 working fields and re-submitting will work, when it shouldn't be.

However, if I click through to focus on the fields, they will appear to "get" the validator property. Clicking submit how, however, will actually toggle the error message on and off. I have never seen this kind of behavior in the past and am scratching my head how to proceed. I have checked in Chrome and Firefox, I have re-downloaded the plugin and used various jQuery versions, I have stripped out the functionality to a completely separate standalone page to remove any potential conflicts. Markup and JS validates. No luck.

JQuery ::: Focus On Tabindex Instead Of Input?

Aug 1, 2009

The function below will automatically move to the next input field in the event that a user hits the enter key. I'm trying to modify it so that it moves to the next input field with a tabindex set. So, in the example below, it'll move to the next input field chronologically, instead of how they're ordered on the page itself:

<input type="text" name="a" tabindex="1" />
<input type="text" name="b" tabindex="3" />
<input type="text" name="c" tabindex="2" />

how I can do it?

Code:

$('input').live("keypress", function(e) {
/* ENTER PRESSED*/
if (e.keyCode == 13) {
/* FOCUS ELEMENT */
