JQuery :: Plugin To Implement Browser's "back" Functionality?

Dec 16, 2010

We've got application builded on custom-made mvc-framework and all navigation made on POST-requests. Usually request contains "command" and some parameters. Currently our implementation of "back" functionality is pretty bad - every link on page should write command and parameters to session params so next page can take them to form "back" link. Obviously, such method leads to many bugs. Is there some jQuery plugin to make those things easier to write and maintain?

JQuery :: Implement A Plugin/Extension?

Mar 18, 2010

I want to implement the jQuery GUID Helper plugin into my web app but I don't know what's the "best practice" method of incorporating it into my code.I'm basically creating a cart system from scratch (figured it was asufficientlycomplicated system to use when learning jQuery). When the visitor first adds an item to their cart is when I wanted to create the GUID for the visitor. I have a cart-handler.js script that I link to from the item view page:

<script type="text/javascript" src="/js/cart-handler.js"></script>

That script's first line is my$(document).ready(function(){ and the script handles AJAX calls to loading the data into cart record in my MySQL database, updates the cart total on the items page, and changes the button from "Add Item" to "Update Quantity".So would I need to link to the jquery.Guid.js script right from the view items file for my item view page? Or can I reference the plugin from the cart-handler.js file?

JQuery :: Add Validate Plugin Functionality To A D7 Form?

Feb 10, 2011

I'm trying to add jQuery validate plugin functionality to a D7 form. Here's what I've done so far: Enabled jQuery update module, so we're using jQuery 1.4.2 validate plugin in my theme's script folder Created form.js & called both it, and the validate plugin, in my .info file

Here's the initial contents of form.js:

(function ($) {
$(document).ready(function() {
// validate signup form on keyup and submit
var validator = $("#webform-client-form-53").validate({

[Code].....

The error is an unexpected "(". This is the syntax shown in the documentation, so I don't see what’s wrong here. After some checking, I was able to determine that it's the 2nd "(" that in line 6 that is being flagged.

JQuery :: Implement The Growl Option For The BlockUI Plugin?

Aug 21, 2009

I'm trying to implement the Growl option for the blockUI plugin, the "hard" way ( as seen here: http:[url].... second to last example). The reason why I'm going the "hard" way is because I'd like to have multiple Growl messages - one for an error,one for a success, etc, all of which have different background images / styles (ex: a red X for error, a green checkmark for a success).The "easy" growl method, while allowing for different text content,only allows for one style. Thus I'm trying to get around this limitation using the "hard" way:

$.blockUI({
message: $('div.growlUI'),
fadeIn: 700, [code]...

subsequently adding different styles in my stylesheet. Yet I get an error that says "data.parent = node.parentNode", when I try and run the above code. Has anyone had any luck getting *different* growl messages with different styles/images in them to run on the same page?

Having A Lightbox Pop Up When A User Clicks The Back Button In Their Browser Rather Than Just Navigating Back

Jul 1, 2011

I'm looking to have a lightbox pop up when a user clicks the Back button in their browser rather than just navigating back. The purpose is to ask a question with a Yes/No answer, and if they click No, I allow them to go back. The only thing I've found anything like this is the onUnload event, but that doesn't prevent them from going back. How should this be handled?

JQuery :: Detecting Browser's Back Button

Apr 12, 2011

I have a jquery-powered "start page" that checks your log in and if successfull it slides in a "menu" of new places to go. The problem is, if you click back from one of the new places, the original "start page" looks as if you never logged in. You have to reload the page. Not very intuitive and this website is for kids. Now I've tried setting form field values with server session variables, javascript variables, etc etc but they all get reset when you click back. I've tried the "onunload hack" which I don't fully understand, and then read a bit about the onhashchange event which is from what I gather only compatible with HTML5 browsers...is there no way to detect if the user is already logged in when they click the back button or am I not doing enough homework?

JQuery :: Append() And The Browser Back Button?

May 8, 2009

I use append() to add html fragments to a page dynamically. This works fine until the user navigates to another page and then clicks on the browser back button. The dynamically added html fragments are no longer visible. I read somewhere that dynamically added elements are not remembered by the browser and therefore the back button will only render the original page (without the dynamically added elements).

JQuery :: Cross-Browser On Variable Change Call Back

Jul 1, 2011

I want to bind a hook to objects member variable change event i.e. lets say I have object:
var obj { var1 : 1,
var2 : 2,
var3 : 3
};

I want to call "Magical" function like this:
onVariableChange(obj, "var1", function(obj, varname, old, new) {
alert("Variable " + varname + " changed from " + old + " to " + new);});
And after this function call every time obj.var1 is set to some value have my callback function called

I found something in internet: [URL]. Its cool but:
-It is changing Object-s prototype
-It is not working under IE 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12....
I've changed it a little bit and instead of adding to Object class prototype I'm adding it as member to any object which needs this hook. But IE still doesn't work. Is there any known cross-browser solution for this? I remember there was a jQuery upcoming project which would allow users to bind object to form and by changing one other will change automatically I wonder whats that project name and how they change input value when object member value changed.

JQuery :: Triggering Evaluations After A Refresh Or Back Browser Button?

Mar 10, 2010

I have a large form that uses jquery's .change to rewrite html select forms, make some calculations, etc. It works great if I don't reload the page via a refresh or a back. If I click back or refresh it doesn't change some of my form's selections, but all of the jquery generated stuff doesn't recalculate. Is there a way I can trigger a re-evaluation? I tried

$(document).ready(function () {
...
(#id).trigger('change');

JQuery :: Update To 1.5.1 Changed Browser Back Button Behavior?

Mar 29, 2011

I recently updated from jQuery 1.4 (I think 1.4.4) to 1.5.1. Before the upgrade, when users pressed the browser's Back button, they would usually be taken back to a page with all their changes intact. If they had modified input values or clicked objects that caused other parts of the page to change, they would still see those changes. Back literally took them back to the exact thing they were looking at before. Under 1.5.1, Back takes them to the prior page as it was when it first loaded. What changed? Can I get the old behavior back?

JQuery :: Enabling Disabled Submit Button On Browser's Back Action?

Feb 3, 2010

when the following code is used in my JSP page:

$('#myForm').bind('submit', function() {
$('#submit').attr('disabled', 'disabled');
});

it disables the submit button when my form is submitted (IDs are used). This action displays a result page. If the browser's Back button is pressed to change some of entered items, the submit button in Firefox is still disabled, while the same action in MSIE8 enables it again. I don't know if this is exactly JavaScript/browser/chache issue, how to get the submit button enabled 'automatically' Unfortunately the refresh button in Firefox doesn't help either (probably JSP issue) - I have to press Enter on the address bar which is not very obvious for every user.

I remember I had before a problem because I wanted to bring back iframe and not top window as it did. But today I tested my Facebook app and was surprised to see it works as I need which means it brings back/forward iframe window and not top. Is it possible that Facebook has some javascript code which does that or is this normall behaviour?
