I was wondering if anyone knew how to load a image in the background and have the current image show until the new image has been downloaded and then swap out the image.
I currently just have the replace without the buffering. Because of the download time of the new image there is a short time where the image space is blank.
I have 3 background images, and 1 is picked at random to be the background image of the body when loading the page.My code is below. Right now it's just white, can't get any pictures to load. I have checked the URLs and they are correct.

I'm trying to swap the background image of my index page logo div when a document is loaded into an Iframe on the index page. This is what I have so far in the external js of the page loaded to the Iframe. The function is called in the window onload of the same js file but it makes the logo image turn blank. The alert declares 'silver jewelry' and the image I want to replace the logo is named 'silver jewelry.jpg'

I'm trying to work with a jquery dialog, starting with code from a site at [URL]. I set up a small sample php and modified the code to make an ajax call. It all worked correctly, but when I tried to migrate the code to an existing php page, what happens is the back ground changes to the grayed out color, but the dialog box does not appear. I put alerts in each of the jquery procedures, which all fire, but I can't find the reason why the dialog doesn't show.
The code seemed pretty straight forward, but I was modifying an existing php page I didn't write, so I'm not sure if I'm missing something being new to jquery. Here's the code from an called html file that includes the jquery code followed by the php page code I changed to include the dialog div tag. I removed most of the php code leaving just the final page code that includes the div for the dialog. The css is straight from the sample code in the web page listed above.

I've used the cycle plugin on several Wordpress sites and it works great, except that when I run it the background is visible between transitions. Instead of a smooth fade between images, there is a long pause between images. Even when I use the default values, there is still a noticeable delay between the slides.

I'm having an issue with the status bar in Mozilla and Netscape showing that
it is still waiting on the page to load even after it is finished. This
problem does NOT occur with IE.
In summary, I am using a onLoad event in the BODY tag to communicate back to
another server each time a page finishes loading. I do this by using a "new
Image()" and setting the .src property to the server. The .src includes a
value in the querystring so I know what request it was that finished
loading.
The challenge here is that the status bar still shows "Transferring data
from www.mysite.com..." despite the image being loaded. It never clears and
leaves the user with the impression that there was a problem loading the
page. My web server logs at the mysite.com show that the browser does
indeed make a request for the image and I get the querystring just fine and
it returns a status of 200 so the image is being found and served ok.
I've tried everything I can think of to solve this and really could use your
help please. Bottom line is that if you use the "new Image" statment from
within the OnLoad event of the Body tag, Netscape and Mozilla never seem to
update the status bar to show "Done" despite it succesfully loading the
image.

So when it does it, it is getting the URL of the generator (I logged it. what is actually being passed is [URL] This would require a server call to generate a new image, In this particular application, even if it wasn't exactly the image y had it would be acceptable. But it's not doing it. It is not getting any image at all. Am I doing something wrong, i.e. is it supposed to just work? I would think not, since the page has already been rendered. This is almost an ajax situation but I don't know how to do it for an image. I don't really want to generate a new image anyway, I'd be very happy to get the one that's already there. How would I access the actual image already attached to y and not do another server call?
at [URL] I am using jquery cycle in 5 divs. As you will see, in 4 of them it works perfectly, but in the main image it is only showing every second slide and fading to blank on the others.

I have this working fine, and I can append the preloaded image to a hidden div then fade the div in for a smooth effect.
Problem is I want to set this preloaded image as a css background image, not as a <img /> in a container. But if when the image is loaded, instead of .prepend() I do .css() and set the css property of a background-image to be the preloaded images URL, then when it carries on with displaying it the browser loads the image again. Rather than using the preloaded one.
I want the image to be a background image as I want it centered in the page background, even if it is too large for the viewport.
