JQuery :: Force A Tab To Remain Current In The Face Of Changing Content?
Dec 29, 2011
I have a tab control finally behaving the way I want, with one exception. The second tab page contains a search form that returns data to be used in the first form on that page. The cgi program returns the results of the searh fine. The problem is that it when it returns the data, the tab control displays with the first page visible rather than the second. NB: I have not yet figured out how to add AJAX to the mix, but for now I just need a simple way for the search cgi program to tell the borwser that when it opens the page it produces, it should open with the second page visible Rather than the first.

I'm working on a javascript-only application that queries an in-memory database, at times requests (all internal to the JS app) are lengthy, so I need to post a "Processing..." overlay atop the clicked UI tab to provide user feedback that something is actually happening. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to push the "Processing..." content to the screen while the DB lookup is underway. It appears that there's only one shot at updating the display, and that's when all JS processing has concluded (ie, the data has been looked up and is displayed).

I'm trying to create a list that contains items which are filters for a search. The list shows 10 items (max) on the page load. if there are more than 10 it changes the class of the elements > 10 so they are hidden, and a 'show more' link is appended. Now if the user has 'unhidden' the previously hidden items and then chooses one, I want the class for all those previously hidden items to change until the user has deselected that item.
[Code]...
Is there a better, smaller way to write this? It works for what i need currently, but there are future features im planning that will not be practical checkingindividualindexes the way i've done it.

I have tried this without success:
$("@font-face").css("font-family","myCustomFont");
$("@font-face").css("src","url('myFontLocation')");
trying to emulate the expected CSS3 statement:
@font-face {
font-family: "myCustomFont";
src: url("myFontLocation");
}
Is this possible? If so what is the exact syntax?
Searching found no clear answer, though I ran across Cufon and similar libraries, but I would rather stay in jQuery if possible.

I am trying to define an "onclick" event to a form button, so that when I click this button, content from another webpage will overwrite this page (not open a new webpage). I've tried the below code (sample) which is not working.
<form action="/script" method="post">
<..other elements../>
<input type="button" name="jump" value="Jump" />
</form>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(':button[name="jump"]').click(function() {
$(document).load('/path/to/another_page.html');
});
</script>

This should be the easiest thing in the world - set a background image for a div on mouseover. I'm working on a color picker for a clothing store. The customer can choose any of 20 colors. The colors are represented on screen by 20 tiny divs, each with a background color. When the customer wants to see a particular color variation, for the clothing, they mouse over the div with that color. A background image is then set that highlights that div, showing it is choosen. This background image should remain till another color div is mouseover-ed. The image appears on hover, then disappears on mouseout. I can not figure out why it disappears on mouseout. I've tried several variations of the following jQuery code, but the back ground image still disappears on mouseout. I also removed the background image from the hover rule in the style sheet - it made no difference.
// 04-24-09 - the little color divs have this styling:
//
// div.color-row div:hover{
// background: url(../img/bg-color.gif) no-repeat;

i'm trying to set up a page that has 5 radio buttons at the top of the page and when you select one of them, without needing to hit a 'submit' button, it will change the contents of the second half of the page, which will contain form elements.
i'm trying to do this without frames or iframes, and am hoping there's a way to do it with cfloop or something.

I know this sounds so stupid, but it's a project that I am working on. I need to develop an application where people can upload a picture of themself and then it will add a wig to their picture over their hair.I just don't know how the code scans the uploaded photo and finds where to add the wig to the picture. The program will be really simple. No choice of wigs there is just one wig and as soon as the picture is uploaded the wig should be added and then displayed.

I would like to do the following:
- I have a page with a form inside. When the user submits the form, I
would like to have a hidden variable in that form that contains the
entire page content as it was when the 'submit' button was clicked
(including the HTML, not only the form values). (The reason I want to
do this is that I want to save every 'form submission' to a database on
the server side.)
I read about the innerHTML, but it looks like its not portable across
browsers.
I suspect the solution would be using somekind of javascript, by
iterating through the DOM elements of the document and so on, but I'm
not sure..

I've been given the task of mantaining and fixing a website which I
didn't design.
I'm using Internet Explorer 5.5 and 6.x. Specifically, the problem is that navigation menues (written in javascript) don't disappear when the mouse moves outside of the area of the menues (some of the menues are nested two and three levels). As long as the mouse cursor remains *within* the options of the menues, the option under the mouse cursor is highlighted and the corresponding
sub-menu is displayed. If the mouse pointer then moves over another
option of the menu then the former sub-menu hides, the new option is
highlighted and its corresponding sub-menu is displayed, or, in case of
a nested sub-menu, the corresponding sub-menu is displayed. So far so
good.
As I said before, the problem arises when the mouse pointer moves *out*
of the menu area. In this case, the last menu + sub-menu (if available)
+ sub-sub-menu (if available) remain visible treading any underlying
content, instead of auto-hiding after half a second, for example, as is
the case of all well designed websites.
As far as I could find out, the original programmer used some
third-party tool to design the menues, and the javascript code was
automatically generated by that tool. By the way, the code ....

So I have this script that will let me detect whether @font-face is supported by the browser. Once this script runs then isFontFaceSupported() // will return a boolean indicating support.
So I just want to load a single .css stylesheet if isFontFaceSupported returns a 1, and if it returns a 0, then it does nothing, finished.
Here is the script.
The following is a font-face glyph definition for the . character:

I created a bookmarklet script to help me audit extremely large style sheets.Basically while on a site that you would like to audit, you click the bookmarklet and the document's body contents gets remove and replaced with an iframe that points to the current sites home page. From here you can choose what style sheet (the script finds) to begin reporting over. The more pages you browse (through the iframe) the more accurate the report gets.My problem however, is if the person is on the site's home page when first running the script, the iframe never loads up. I think it has to do with the fact that you are on the home page, and then the iframe tries to point to the home page as well and fails for some reason.You can test it by bookmarking this bookmarklet and running it on any site's home page where style sheets can be found:
Get The Bookmarklet on this page (http://tinyurl.com/3gx7fw5)
Again, it works great if you don't start the script from a sites home page.

I have a content slider called "Codaslider" (ver 1.1 I believe) setup, and using CSS I have an absolute positioned image hovering above the slider at all times. The effect is what I want, where I have a static image of my company's product hovering above the content slider, and the background images slide around showing various features and such.
I would like to make it where the customer can click anywhere within the bounds of the content slider (including on top of the static image), and be able to follow the link for the image in the content slider.
For example, if the background image shows "New Features" or something similar, I want the customer to be able to click anywhere and get to the "New Features" page.
So basically, is there a way to dynamically set the URL that the static overlaid image points to, based on what page the content slider is on?
Here is the javascript that setups up the content slider:
Code javascript:
<script type="text/javascript">
var theInt = null;
var $crosslink, $navthumb;

I have a website with some navigation buttons on top. When one button is clicked I replace it's content with the content of a red button using this code:
document.getElementById('button').innerHTML = '
<a href="javascript:void(0)">
<img src="header/button_active.jpg" border="0" />
</a>'
The original code was enclosed in a DIV and I cant just change the img src because the original code is:
<div id="aanbiedingen">
<a href="javascript:void(0)">
<img src="1px_tranceparent.gif" name="Aanbiedingen" width="99px" height="20px" border="0" />
</a>
</div>
But when the orignal button is clicked, a ajax event goes off and loads the new page without reloading the button.
Using this code a button becomkes red once you click it. This is what I want.
Just one problem: when I click on another button, the first one stays red because it doesn't reload the page. Now I thought, I'll refresh the navigation page using a div and ajax. Code:

I've got a link that launches a little AJAX application in a window.
Like this:
function launchListener()
{
var newWindow = window.open("listener.php", "newWindow",
"width=300,height=150");
}
Ideally, once this window is loaded, it will sit in the background and
wait for stuff to happen. I would like to then change the title bar to
denote changes. Simple enough, right?
Anyway, problem is: When the new window launches, its title is not
exactly what I assign it in "listener.php" (for instance, "Listener"),
but rather "http://155.55.55.55 - Listener" (or whatever). This means
that while sitting the taskbar, generally all the user is going to see
is a domain name and some dots, rather than what I want them to see.

I am running a website and I want to display many things on the same page. Currently what I have is something like this: [two buttons here][some code here, showing][some code here, hiding]When i click the second button, the hidden code replaces the code that was just showing. The first button then re-hides that code and shows the first code again. What I want to do is combine the two buttons so that when you click the first one, the text and hyperlink will change to display that of the second button. And when you click the button again, it will change to the text and hyperlink of the first button.
