My DOM structure in HTML page have some elements 'IMG'. One of 'img' element have attribute 'src' = 'lolo1.jpg'. How can i find the 'DIV' element with this specific 'img' element inside? I have to find nearest 'DIV'.
[Code]...
I wanna write function like a GetNearestDivID('lolo2.jpg') which would give me result 'mix2'
I want to find the parent element of some element.
$("tr input").each(function (i) { //loop input elements within tr's
if(this.name == "cid[]"){
//checkbox

I have an array "arr" that is an array of objects. Each object has the same 7 properties.I want to find the index of the object with a property that matches a certain value x in the array arr. The array has hash tables associated with it.
arr [ obj [ i ] . property1 + "_" + obj [ i ] . property2 ] = arr [ i ] ;
so whats the index of the object where .property1 = x ?
How do I find specific element id for "mod_?" when using JQuery
Code below, as you can see all the <span> are hidden.
For example, if I moveover do_2 then id mod_2 should display. How can that be done?
Code JavaScript:
<div class="task">
<div id="do_1" class="tasklist"> Task One <span id="mod_1" style="display: none"> Moderator </span> </div>
[Code].....
<select id="myselect">
<option value="a">test</option>
<option value="b">test</option>
<option value="c">test</option>
</select>
i need to somehow get the index of the item with value "c" (so it will return 2). how to do so?
This is my table structure, I want to find out the index of the tr which first td is empty, in this case, the index should be 1, how to pick it out?
<table width="100%" border="1" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
<tr><td>1</td>
<td>1</td>
<td>1</td>
<td></td></tr>
<tr><td></td>
<td>1</td>
<td>1</td>
<td>1</td>
</tr><tr>
<td>2</td>
<td>1</td>
<td>1</td>
<td>1</td>
</tr><tr>
<td></td>
<td>1</td>
<td>1</td>
<td>1</td>
</tr></table>
i have a dropdown. i want to check the value in 'i'th position. how can i find that? $("DropDownList1_ID").val() is not giving any value. its alerting [object object] .
[Code]...
Given the following HTML:
<ul>
<li class="">1</li>
<li>2</li>
<li>3</li>
[Code].....
Unfortunately that doesn't work. I understand that the index() isdocumentation (though confusing) correctly tells you that the above code doesn't work. Maybe I'm just weird, but I feel that the way .index() is implemented for string arguments is very counter intuitive. I have an expectation that .index() is similar to indexOf() in javascript.
i have a menu generated by a list with nested lists. i want the parent link to stay highlighted when the mouse hovers over the sub menus. because those sub menus are also generated by jquery (qtip), CSS alone won't do it (triedul.topnav li:hover a {background-color: #F00;}).is there a way to do this using jquery?

Adjust the CSS margins of the BODY element with the first slider. The yellow P (paragraph) element resizes to fit its smaller containing block, as I would expect.
Then, adjust the CSS border or padding of the BODY element with the second and third sliders. The P element does not resize, though its origin changes. Instead, it overflows its containing block.
Finally, adjust the margins again. The P element snaps back into its containing block.
As you can see from the source, this is jQuery 1.6.4 and jQueryUI 1.8 pulled from googleapis.com.
Edit: Client is Google Chrome16.0.889.0 dev-m.
I have an array of integersI like to retrieve the max number and index of max number from that array without using Math.Max() function..Presently in this below code, I have 4 dynamic values, end user will be select degree from combo box, entering the values semester, Max marks and Obtained marks as numeric values. Once entered dynamic rows will be created and it also calculate the percentage by the formula (om/mm)*100 for each row on clicking Sum and it also creates new columnŠI needed to have code when the degree changes only.. it should calculate the sum of all max.marks and Obtained marks of each semester and then calculate percentage by above formulaŠ and also new column should not be createdsort with max markswhat is the easiest way...

I've got the a bunch of selects back from a find:
Code:
var selects = $( "#my_id").find( 'SELECT');
Now I want to say this:
For each {desired value} in array with index ix Select the {ix}th select box Set the option in the {ix}th select box whose value == {desired value} as selected
I know it's really exceptionally easy, but I suck at jQuery...
I think it looks something like one of the below two lines:
Code:
selects[ix].val( {desired value});
OR
selects[ix].val( {desired value}).attr( 'selected', true);
but I know the select[ix] syntax is wrong, and I don't know how to reference an item at a specific index from the jquery object returned by jquery.find()
i have got about 50 definition lists on one html-page witch all look linke this:
<dl>
<dt class="title">aaa</dt>
<dd class="subtitle">bbb</dd>
<dd class="city">ccc</dd>
<dd class="email">ddd</dd>
<dd class="website">eee</dd>
<dd class="description">fff</dd>
</dl>
if the dt-element in one of the definition lists has a specific css-property (e.g. length > 100px) then the dd-element with the css-class "subtitle" in the same definition list should be removed.
I am dynamically adding text boxes within a table and I want to be able to dynamically remove them as well. I have this part of the code figured out.
With each text box that I add, I also add a link in the same row, but different cell that will be a "remove" link. Im having trouble finding the index of that row by clicking on a link.
I can find the index by clicking on the row(tr) but I can't seem to figure out how to find the index by clicking on the link inside of the row.
Here is my code:
Creates the link dynamically in the 4th cell:
Code:
Remove Row Code:
Code:
Find Row Index Code:
Code:
I beleive the problem is in the rows[i].onlick part, since I'm not techinically clicking on a row, Im clicking on the link. I have tried changing the rows variable to:
Code:
But that doesn't work.
I need to find all rows in a table ending with an id.. $("element[id$='txtTitle']")
this will work fine i know.... but i want to find it inside it inside another table whose id i have and not the whole document.. how do i achieve this??
I know this might seem like a newb question,
but the following returnsnothingfor me, except a blank alert box...[code]...
I want to check if the image wrapped by a tag, so I write the [code]...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI wonder if there's any chance to get the parent's ID of an html comment.
Let's say I have the following comment inside the DOM[code]...
And I would like to know where is it contained asking for it literally.
I have tried with :contains("<!--this is a comment-->") but contains doesn't seems to support comments.
I have three images nested in three divs that I want to change size on mouseover, but since they're each in their own div, I can't effect their z-indexes relative to one another without targeting their parent divs.I thought I'd be able to contain the images in an <a> tag with z-index style in a mouseover, but I can get it to work. What am I doing wrong here? [code]I've tried a few approaches to the function's targeting, like document.getElementById(this.parent.id).style.zIndex, etc, but still nothing.
View 23 Replies View RelatedI'm building a volunteer translation site. In order to constantly update only paragraphs that multiple translators are working on, I need to pass an array to PHP of A: which paragraphs are open, and B: which translations have been submitted and are visible on the user's screen. PHP will then compare this with what is in the database and tell jQuery to add new submitted translation paragraphs or remove deleted ones.I've managed to make a string of all the open Div's and have it updated every second, like this:
function cycle(){
var data = '';
$('.paragraphtobetranslated:visible').each(function(){

I have a div that is float: left and has a bunch of divs inside it. Those divs inside are all position: relative. They also have z-index values. I want to know the actual height of the outer div's content when I add a div.
Here's the problem:
Code:
<div class="outer">
<div class="something_With_Z_Index_Of_Zero">Something</div>
<div class="something_With_Z_Index_Of_One">Something</div>
</div>
(NOTE: Both inner divs have a height of 20px)
When I ask for either: outerDiv.offsetHeight or outerDiv's computedStyle.height, both give me 40 (or 40px). This is actually not right as the two inner divs are placed one over the other. How would I figure out the proper height?
I'm trying to get the index of a div when its the same mark up for each set. I want to return index of '1' when a second "yo" is clicked in any "a" and '0' if the first "yo" is clicked in any "a". If i clicked the "yo" which has the color #330000, then i should get 1 not 5. This seems like a simple task but i cannot get it to work.
