I am trying to load html into a jquery popup window having limited success thus far due to being "stuck" on jquery 1.2.6I use CS-Cart for my eCommerce store which uses a custom AJAX framework based upon jQuery 1.2.6, the downside is that I cannot use jQuery plugins post-1.2.6 nor upgrade it as it removes 99% of the AJAX functionality that the cart depends upon.What I'm attempting to do visually is create a jquery popup window upon user click.ie/eg:View Color Chart : More InformationCode:<p>View Color Chart <a href="url.html">More Information</a></p> The end result being displayed as followed.
CS-Cart have used "fancybox" for it's display, but alas my attempt to integrate it thus far have been limted as it fails to load the iframe unless I have the latest jquery.PS: The FAQ link doesn't work for this message: Before proceeding, please make sure you are aware of the Community Guidelines and you have read the 'Important' threads in this forum, if any.

I noticed that the computer that I used when I signed up for Sitepoint's newsletters does not pop-up that subscription window anymore. But, when I go to SitePoint using any other computer I get the pop-up window almost everytime I return to the site.
Is there a script that does this... and if so, where can I get it? I would love to use that on a new site we are creating.

I have this jQuery chain
Code:
$(elements).delay(500).fadeInSequence().hide();
fadeInSequence is a plugin defined below
Code:
jQuery.fn.fadeInSequence = function(fadeInTime, timeBetween)
{
console.log("fadein");
//Default Values
timeBetween = typeof(timeBetween) == 'undefined' ? 0 : timeBetween;
[Code]...
I'm trying to make this plugin chainable, but right now the animation is not going in the queue. This is indicated by the fact that the .hide() goes into effect immediately. My goal is to make the plugin work so any methods called after it will wait until fadeInSequence() is finished. So in this case, all the elements will fade in and THEN .hide() will go into effect.

I have created a new site that has a contact page and am trying to use the Forms plugin and Validation plugin. I can get the validation plugin to work fine and submit the form when it is valid but I am trying to use AJAX to update a div when the form has been successfully sent. All that is happening is it sends the form then validates meaning I get empty emails..
This is my code:
The output div should have already been updated with the responseText.');} </script> and the webpage is [url].

Ok, this is my last resort, as I've been working on this for a while and am completely stumped. I'm probably just doing something stupid that I haven't noticed, Essentially my problem is this: on this website I'm developing, users can submit photos for a monthly contest. I'm using the Lightbox plugin with prototype and script.aculo.us to display winners from the past few months, and the Validate and Form plugins for jQuery to display a form where users upload their pictures. Thus, I have this in the head of my document:

I would like to know how to create a function in an external file for validating the fields of a form. If someone could please provide the code, it'll be real helpful. The form is as follows:
<form name="contactus" action="" method="get" id="form">
Name: <input type="text" name="name" id="name" class="autoName"></br>
Email: <input type="text" name="email" id="email" class="autoEmail"></br>
Phone:<input type="integer" name="phone" id="phone"></br>
Date: <input type="text" name="date" id="date"></br>
<input type="submit" value="submit" id="submitclick"></form>

I am trying to create a basic unobtrusive form validation function but I am having some issues/questions. Basically I am checking if any of the form fields have <= 3 characters, and if they do so, then I make those fields' backgrounds and borders red. Also in the empty <span> tags I insert an error message. My issues/questions are:
#1: So when I say if (fieldVals<=3) this means that the errors should appear if the values are 1,2 or 3 characters long, right? It does not do that though, when I insert one character in any of the form fields the errors go away, but they should not, right?
#2: How do I cancel the form from submitting if errors are visible and vice versa? When I use the return false when errors are visible, the code does not even run. What is going on? return true does the same.
#3: When I use a submit button(type="submit") instead of just a button(type="button"), the code does not run? What am I doing wrong?
I am not trying to use this on a website, I am just trying to learn how to use unobtrusive javascript. That's why I am only checking for empty fields. If I learn how to do this first, later I will try to add email check, date check etc.
THE CODE:

I need to know how to create a pop up window that opens behind a browser window. I don’t want to bother my visitors with a pop up window every time they visit my site and I don’t want to use cookies to prevent my site from popping up a window when a surfer visit my site a second time or more; some visitors may need to read my offer more than once before they subscribe to my newsletter.
The answer seems to be a pop up window that opens behind all other browser; this way the pop up window will not interfere with their visit to my site.
Does anyone know the codes for such a pop up window?

i'm building a website at the moment with a user registration form. something i struggle with everytime is the best way to give feedback to the user (e.g. further instructions for a particular field or error messages).I saw a very nice execution of this recently at this site. /user/register - this looks to be a custom job, but i'm curious is the open-source or even paid plugins that do a similar thing.

i've got a function which makes a call to the database( via jquery $.post) to check if a username already exists. All the data I get back is fine and both the conditional statment works as intentded. I just can't get the function to return a value to the other function that calls it. Could this be something to do with the scope.
Code:
function checkIfUsername(o)
{
$.post(""+CI_ROOT+"index.php/admin/check_if_username",{
username: username.val()
}, function(data){
if(data.bool == true){

I know that there can be a 3rd argument for Jquery's $post. I want to figure out what the best solution is, for a function, that can be used so we can guarantee that no other jquery functions run until the $post action is completed. I use $post to hit 'vote.php' to submit a vote but I want it to complete this process, and be able to confirm it (Without an annoying alert) so it can properly continue with the process of displaying vote results to the site visitor. I just am not sure what I should do. What is the best idea, just create a function that displays a 'please wait' image that loads for a few seconds and then continue?

If I have this:
$.post('/admin/duration', $str, function(data){
var jsonData = eval('(' + data + ')');
return jsonData.TIME;
});
How do I get the return value from the function to use afterwards? I know this must be simple. I'm just not seeing it.

I have an HTML div that gets filled with the following HTML/javascript code via ajax:
<script
type
=
"text/javascript"
[Code]....
The idea is that when I post the form the response gets loaded back into the same div. This works, but when I use the form to post a file I see the following output from Firebug: $ is not defined
Naturally when I resubmit my form again (for example after incorrect input) the resulting response doesn't get loaded into the div because jquery never setup the ajaxForm method.

//code outside of .post function executes successfully

I am new to all this but making good progress and having fun in the process. I have written quite a bit over recent weeks (including a few $.post / $.ajax calls) for various sites/applications but this one is really puzzling me. Here is a snippet of code that is causing me problems.
[Code]....
The problem is that execution jumps from line 2 to line 6 ... ignoring the function(data) and I am not sure why. I get the correct value of "team" arriving at the perl script .... and the perl writes the correct json back. I just can't think where else I need to look to debug this - as I said, I have done something similar 5-6 times over the last few weeks - all without a problem. So I am sure I am doing something stupid here.

I can't seem to get a variable declared from within a post callback, so that I could manipulate my script accordingly. I have delete.php, that deletes an id from a mysql db. If it fails, I want the script to stop and display the error. The .php script echos an "ok" if everything went fine, if not - it echos the error.var abort_error; // set the error variable
$.get("delete.php", { delete: $(this).parent().parent().parent().attr('id') },
